Introduction: Hypodermoclysis is an alternative method for administering medications and fluids. From this perspective, decision-making tools are useful for systematizing care. Objective: To develop and validate the content and appearance of an algorithm to guide eligibility for hypodermoclysis in adult patients. Materials and methods: Methodological study, developed between April and December 2020, in two stages: Construction of the algorithm and validation of content and appearance. In the first stage, a scoping review was constructed to identify and map the evidence on the eligibility/indication criteria for adult patients to use hypodermoclysis. In the second stage, the Delphi technique was used to evaluate the tool. The consensus among the judges was measured by the content validity coefficient. The item with more than 80% agreement was considered valid. Results: The algorithm uses three dimensions to assess the eligibility criteria for the use of hypodermoclysis in adults, focusing on the main absolute contraindications, such as anasarca, severe thrombocytopenia, and whether there is a need for rapid volume replacement. The content validation reached a total value of 0.95, while the appearance was 0.93, both in Delphi II. After the proposed changes, 100% of the judges recommended the use of the algorithm. Conclusions: The instrument produced and validated in this study constitutes a safe tool for care, because it reinforces the use of evidence-based praxis, as it is an instrument capable of bringing the theoretical field closer to the practical.

Introduction: Disordered Eating Attitudes and Behaviours (DEABs) can impact both the mental and physical health of children. Early detection is crucial to prevent complications and improve outcomes. The Eating Attitudes Test-26 (EAT-26) is a widely used, cost-effective tool for assessing DEABs. Objective: To evaluate the psychometric properties of the EAT-26 by analysing its factor structure, internal consistency, convergent validity, and measurement invariance across sexes in Spanish schoolchildren. Method: Validation study in a sample of 718 schoolchildren. The sample was randomly divided into 2 groups, each with 359 participants, and we carried out an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of the instrument. Subsequently, we assessed the internal consistency by means of the ordinal alpha, the convergent validity with the SCOFF questionnaire and the measurement invariance across the sexes. Results: The results of the EFA and CFA supported a multidimensional structure of the EAT comprising 6 factors and 21 items. These factors underlie a second-order model of DEABs. The internal consistency was adequate for most factors. The SCOFF questionnaire showed a moderate convergent validity for most of the EAT-21 factors. We found measurement invariance across the sexes. Conclusions: The abbreviated EAT-21 scale exhibited modest and promising psychometric properties, making it a suitable instrument for assessing DEABs in both sexes in educational settings.

This study focuses on analyzing the psychometric properties of the Internalized Homonegativity Test among homosexual individuals in the department of Nariño (Colombia), aiming to develop a relevant and adapted instrument for gender and sexual orientation studies in the region. It employs a quantitative instrumental cross-sectional design with a sample of 161 participants, including both gay and lesbian individuals from 25 municipalities in Nariño. Participants' ages ranged from 15 to 87 years, selected through convenience sampling using the Snowball method. The Internalized Homonegativity Test, the Homosexual Sexual Orientation Recognition Scale, and a SociodemographicGenerational Questionnaire were administered. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, correlation and hypothesis testing, and calculations of Cronbach's Alpha and McDonald's Omega were conducted using JASP V 0.17.1 software. The results indicate that the instrument exhibits a unifactorial structure explaining 56.4 % of the common variance in the data and adequate internal consistency, with reliability values ranging from 0.828 to 0.894. These findings support the scale's reliability for measuring internalized homonegativity in the studied context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SMOKING , *TOBACCO use among youth , *CULTURAL adaptation , *COLLEGE students , *PSYCHOMETRICS , *CIGARETTES - Abstract
Introduction. Tobacco use among youth continues to be a public health problem. Since identifying attitudes can help understand why young people use conventional cigarettes, it is essential to have valid instruments to assess attitudes towards conventional cigarettes. Objective. To culturally adapt and analyze the psychometric properties of the scale of attitudes towards conventional cigarettes in young university students. Method. The study was conducted in two phases: it was culturally adapted to determine its linguistic validity and its psychometric properties were subsequently verified through factor analysis, Cronbach's Alpha, McDonald's Omega, and the ROC curve. Results. Participants included 635 university students with a mean age of 23.56 ± 5.89, 56.4% of whom were women. Exploratory analysis identified three components explaining 57.06% of the total variance of the thirteen items with high internal consistency (α = .875). Factor analysis confirmed that three factors had excellent fit indices (χ²/gl = 1.78, IFI = .98, CFI = .98, TLI = .97, RMSEA = .04 (90% CI [.028, .057]), SRMR = .03). Discussion and conclusion. The scale of attitudes towards conventional cigarettes in the Mexican population has high construct validity and reliability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CONFIRMATORY factor analysis , *FACTOR structure , *MEXICANS , *PSYCHOMETRICS , *SEXUAL dysfunction - Abstract
Background. Male sexual function results from a complex interaction of psychological, neurogenic, and vascular factors; an interruption in any part of this process leads to sexual dysfunction. Since sexual dysfunction in Mexico seems prevalent between 30% to 35%, it is necessary to have a valid and reliable scale to measure sexual functionality in the male population. Objective. To determine the psychometric properties of the scale of the Composite Index for Prostate Cancer for sexual evaluation (EPIC) in Mexican men. Method. Study design: cross-sectional, non-experimental instrumental. Participants were 206 men aged 20 to 73 years. Instruments. The Expanded Composite Index for Sexual Function and the Functional Assessment of Chronic Diseases-General Population. Results. An internal consistency of .93 resulted, including an explained variance of 67.6%. The confirmatory factor analysis yielded a two-factor model (Sexual function and Sexual distress) with indexes suggesting stability and adjustment. Discussion. The Mexican version of the EPIC has reliability and validity and has a factorial structure like the original one. Results lead to recommendations for clinical practice and research, including using the scale in men with different sexual affectations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Lifestyles refer to the habitual behaviors each person presents and characterizes based on their health. However, the psychometric characteristics of the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile (HPLP-II) are unknown. Objective: To evaluate the dimensionality and reliability of the HPLP-II in Colombian university students. Method: A psychometric study was carried out with the participation of 293 university students over 18 years who completed the HPLP-II. Exploratory factor analysis was performed using the principal components method. Reliability was estimated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Results: Five factors were identified that explained 63.6% of the variance. The factor coefficients of the items were observed between 0.44 and 0.78. Internal consistency was acceptable per factor, with Cronbach's alpha values between 0.82 and 0.91. Conclusion: The questionnaire's psychometric properties show adequate values in most adjustment indices, but not in all, which is why new applications must be made to confirm the instrument's suitability to measure lifestyles in the Colombian population. Background: Generativity has been associated with resilience and life satisfaction in older age, including among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT+) older adults. Objective: To examine the psychometric properties of the Loyola Generativity Scale (LGS) and Generative Behavior Checklist (GBC) for Spanish LGBT+ older adults (over the age of 50). Methodology: A psychometric study was conducted with 141 Spanish LGBT+ older adults to examine the construct validity (exploratory factor analysis), convergent validity, and reliability (internal consistency) of the LGS and the GBC. Results: Parallel and exploratory factor analyses suggested a two-factor model with good sample adequacy for both scales. The LGS explained 45.1% of the variance and had an internal consistency of 0.78. The GBC explained 41.76 % of the variance and had an internal consistency of 0.879. A positive and statistically significant correlation was found between life satisfaction and the generative scales. A positive and significant correlation (rs = 0.310) was also observed between both instruments. Conclusion: Both instruments proved valid and reliable for measuring generativity in Spanish LGBT+ older adults. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: The lack of discussions on nursing care for pregnant women with sickle cell disease in Brazil and the urgent need for intervention and improvements in the nursing care provided to these women sparked this study. In addition, validity is an essential attribute for instruments used in research and/or clinical practice. Objective: To develop and validate an instrument covering the care of pregnant women with sickle cell disease. Materials and methods: This is a methodological, content validation study conducted with specialist judges. The instrument was structured with 19 nursing diagnoses that addressed the biological, psychological, and social dimensions, as well as 126 nursing interventions. The Delphi technique was used with the participation of 18 judges. The results were analyzed using the content validity index and a level of agreement above 0.80. Results: Of the 145 items analyzed, 22 (15.17 %) scored a content validity index < 0.80, and the adjustments suggested by the judges were implemented. The instrument's general content validity index was calculated at 0.87. The instrument reached acceptable content validity parameters, according to the criteria used. Conclusions: The instrument's potential stands out, and it can be improved through its use as a resource for guiding nursing practices directed to pregnant women with sickle cell disease, both in primary health care and in hospital networks. COMPULSIVE eating , *COMPULSIVE behavior , *PSYCHOMETRICS , *CONFIRMATORY factor analysis , *EATING disorders - Abstract
Introduction: Mexico is one of the countries with the highest prevalence of childhood obesity worldwide. The increase of addictive behaviors at an early age is a possible cause of its development. The Yale Food Addiction Scale for Children (YFAS-C) allows identifying children with food addictive behaviors. Objective: to validate the YFAS-C scale in Spanish in a population sample of Mexican children and adolescents. Material and methods: an exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was performed. The study sample consisted of 448 children from seven to 14 years of age. The first stage involved translation into Spanish; a second stage involved the solution of questions with discrepancies; then, a reverse translation into the original language and a review by experts on the subject of eating disorders in pediatric population were performed; and in the last stage, a pilot test in order to culturally adapt the instrument and the evaluation of the psychometric properties was carried out. Results: using the principal component extraction method, four components were identified that explained 47.1 % of the sample variance. In the confirmatory factor analysis, it was found that the goodness-of-fit indices met the required values (CFI = 0.906: GFI = 0.932; AGFI = 0.915, SRMS = 0.007 and RMSEA = 0.043). Conclusions: a validated Spanish version of the YFAS-C scale was obtained for Mexican children and adolescents to assess food addiction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To construct and validate a questionnaire about the attitude of university students toward health promotion. Method: A cross-sectional study. A questionnaire of 14 questions was designed and administered to 1486 first-year undergraduates. The principal axes factoring method with oblique rotation was applied and a confirmatory factor analysis was carried out. Reliability was calculated through internal consistency with Cronbach's alpha and item-total correlation for the global scale and its subscales. Results: A 14-item scale was constructed, with two dimensions. Its Cronbach's alpha was 0.872, and 0.852, and 0.718 for its subscales. The adjustment values of the confirmatory factor analysis were adequate. Conclusions: The attitude towards health promotion scale has shown to have adequate psychometric properties. It is an instrument that will help to detect referents and health assets for future interventions.

- Abstract
Early detection is crucial to prevent complications and improve outcomes. The Eating Attitudes Test-26 (EAT-26) is a widely used, cost-effective tool for assessing DEABs. Objective: To evaluate the psychometric properties of the EAT-26 by analysing its factor structure, internal consistency, convergent validity, and measurement invariance across sexes in Spanish schoolchildren. Method: Validation study in a sample of 718 schoolchildren. The sample was randomly divided into two groups, each with 359 participants, and we carried out an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of the instrument. Subsequently, for the total sample, we assessed the internal consistency by means of the ordinal alpha, the convergent validity with the SCOFF questionnaire and the measurement invariance between the sexes. Results: The results of the EFA and CFA supported a multidimensional structure of the EAT comprising six factors and 21 items. These factors underlie a second-order model of DEABs. The internal consistency was adequate for most factors. The SCOFF questionnaire showed a moderate convergent validity for most factors. We found strict invariance across the sexes. Conclusions: The abbreviated EAT-21 scale exhibited modest and promising psychometric properties, making it a suitable instrument for assessing DEABs equitably in both sexes in educational settings.
