As urbanization accelerates and population structures change, healthcare buildings are becoming increasingly crowded. Predicting functional area demand is crucial to adapting to this trend and providing high-quality services. This paper introduces an innovative multi-stage method to forecast unbuilt projects using operational data from hospital information systems and building design models to automatically calculate spatial demands. The study’s main findings demonstrate that our method successfully outputs regional demand data, supporting hospital design validation and operational decision-making. Through processing and analyzing log data, this research identified the dynamic characteristics of user activities in hospital buildings and converted them into a time series data format. This method has iterative self-validation and self-optimization features and can maintain flexibility in different scenarios and frequently changing design drawings. This method will provide technical support for a wide range of hospital building stakeholders and has the potential to be applied to more types of buildings. These findings will contribute to various fields, including medical facility planning, design, and public health.

The oxidative potential (OP) of ambient particulate matter (PM) is a common metric for estimating PM toxicity and linking PM exposure to adverse health effects. Organic aerosol (OA), a dominant fraction of ambient PM worldwide, may significantly contribute to PM toxicity. Here, we investigated the source‐based OA components contributing to the OP of PM in the urban (Beijing, summer and winter) and rural (Gucheng, winter) environments of the North China Plain (NCP). Various OA components as identified by the aerosol mass spectrometer/aerosol chemical speciation monitor (AMS/ACSM), transition metals, and black carbon were compared with the OP of PM measured by dithiothreitol assays. The results consistently demonstrate the importance of OA as a contributor to PM's OP in both urban and rural NCP environments. Higher intrinsic OP was observed in winter Beijing than in summer, possibly due to OA being predominantly from anthropogenic sources in winter. Furthermore, different OA components were found to drive the response of OP in the two environments. More‐oxidized oxygenated OA (MO‐OOA), cooking OA, and oxidized primary OA (during winter) are the OA contributors to OP in the urban environment, with a dominant contribution from MO‐OOA. In contrast, biomass burning OA (BBOA) and OOA play a major role in the OP in the rural environment, with BBOA making the largest contribution. Overall, this work highlights the significance of OA in determining PM's OP and calls for more work to reveal the sources and characteristics of OA components contributing to OP across different regions. The oxidative potential (OP) of PM2.5 is widely used to estimate PM2.5 toxicity and link PM2.5 exposure with its adverse health effects. Organic aerosol (OA) constitutes a major fraction of PM2.5 and can contribute substantially to the OP of PM2.5. But OA is also a complex mixture comprised of thousands of compounds each with widely different health effects. Here, we reveal the key OA components driving the OP in the urban and rural environments of the NCP. We find that more‐oxidized oxygenated OA, which is highly oxidized and can be formed from multiple atmospheric processes, is a dominant contributor to the OP in the urban environment. In contrast, biomass burning OA makes the largest contribution to the OP in the rural environment. In sum, different OA components are found to be the main drivers of the OP in the two environments. More studies are warranted to further our understanding of the causes, sources, and characteristics of the PM2.5 OP over a wide range of geographical regions. Semi-hydrogenation of alkynes to alkenes using electrochemical approaches is an appealing alternative to conventional thermocatalytic strategies, as it efficiently utilizes water as the hydrogen source at ambient temperature. However, the precise modulation of atomic and electronic structures of catalytic Pd active sites remains a persistent challenge, particularly in enhancing the conversion yield of alkynes and improving the selectivity of alkenes. Here, we synthesize Pd nanoparticles anchored onto the surface of the defective two-dimensional Fe2O3 support, referred to as Pd/Fe2O3 catalysts, to conduct the electrocatalytic semi-hydrogenation of alkynes. Intriguingly, we observed the reconstruction of the atomic structure and configuration of Pd nanoparticles in the Pd/Fe2O3 catalysts due to metal–support interaction, caused by the hybridization of Pd d and O p orbitals. This interaction significantly weakens the binding strength of Pd sites in the Pd/Fe2O3 catalysts to the chemisorbed 4-aminophenylacetylene and reactive hydrogen intermediates. Consequently, Pd/Fe2O3 catalysts achieve a high conversion rate (99%) and selectivity (99%) in the semi-hydrogenation of 4-aminophenylacetylene coupled with high faradaic efficiency, outperforming both benchmark commercial Pd/C and other reference catalysts. Additionally, terminal alkynes featuring diverse functionalized groups, including those with easily reducible or passivated functionalities, can be efficiently semi-hydrogenated using Pd/Fe2O3 catalysts. Variance or complete loss of the avirulence gene (Avr) enables the pathogen to escape resistance protein (R) recognition. The field resistance effectiveness of the R gene is determined by its corresponding Avr gene in field isolates. To effectively deploy the rice blast R gene Pi54, the distribution, variation and evolution of the corresponding Avr gene, AvrPi54, were determined through PCR amplification, pathogenicity assay, gene sequences and evolutionary analysis. Among 451 Pyricularia isolates from rice and non-rice hosts, including Oryza rufipogon, Digitaria sanguinalis, Eleusine coracana, E. indica and Musa sp. in Yunnan province, the PCR amplification result showed that AvrPi54 alleles existed among 218 (48.3%) isolates including rice isolates, O. rufipogon isolates and E. coracana isolates. Pathogenicity assay showed that 336 (74.5%) isolates were avirulent to Tetep (holding Pi54). Five AvrPi54 haplotypes were identified among 142 isolates through the gene sequence. These haplotypes were determined to be avirulent to Pi54 through pathogenicity assay. Four novel haplotypes (H2 to H5) of the AvrPi54 gene would provide new target sites for rice blast control. Haplotype diversity analysis indicated that there existed a lower genetic diversity of AvrPi54 for P. oryzae populations (five haplotypes, Hd = 0.127, π = 2.9 × 10−4) in this study. Neutrality tests showed that AvrPi54's genetic variation was affected by purified selection. Haplotype network and phylogeny analysis showed that H1 was an ancestral haplotype and was widely distributed in rice isolates and O. rufipogon isolates, while H5 diverged early and evolved independently. As global crises such as COVID-19 become more frequent, many projects, which can be called blitz projects, will need to be completed extremely quickly in response. However, there remains a lack of theoretical support for their implementation as well as systematic strategies for managing their schedules. This article examines the responses to COVID-19 by three specialty field hospitals in China. Through reviews and cross-analysis of the influential factors and practices, and their effects on extreme schedule management, this article proposes a systematic strategic framework including the elements of mission, solution and innovation, organization and culture, communication, resources, dynamics, and adaptability. A kind of adsorbent (Hydrogel-I) derived from sodium alginate and modified alkaline lignin (MAL) has been proved to possess a good adsorption performance for Pb(II)-loaded wastewater based on batch experiments. However, practical removal of Pb(II)-loaded-wastewater is a continuous and dynamic process. Herein, Hydrogel-I was further evaluated by packing it into a fixed-bed column. The breakthrough curves were established under different inflow rates (0.159–0.318 L/min), inflow directions (down-inflow mode and top-inflow mode), initial concentrations (5–20 mg/L) of Pb(II), and bed depths (20–60 cm). The results indicated that the slower inflow rate (0.159 L/min), down-inflow mode, lower initial concentration (5 mg/L), and higher bed depth (60 cm) prolonged breakthrough times (tb) and saturation times (ts). Compared to the top-inflow mode, the down-inflow mode guaranteed enough contact between Hydrogel-I and Pb(II). The values of adsorption capacity at tb, ts, and the removal efficiency under the down-inflow mode were higher than that under top-inflow mode by 2.33, 0.78, and 0.07 times, respectively. Hydrogel-I beads exhibited better adsorption performance than other adsorbents by comparing the rate constant (kAB) and the adsorption capacity (N0). The kAB and N0 of Hydrogel-I beads were calculated to be 0.0034 L/(mg·min−1) and 678 mg/L. Hydrogel-I beads showed good regeneration ability in a three-adsorption-desorption cycle. Meanwhile, FT-IR analysis showed that the groups of –NH/–NH2, C=S, and C–S were proved to be the adsorption sites. Oxygenated volatile organic compounds (OVOCs), emitted in large quantities by the chemical industry, are a major contributor to the formation of ozone and subsequent particulate matter. For the efficient catalytic oxidation of OVOCs, the challenges of molecular activation and intermediate inhibition remain. The construction of bifunctional active sites with specific structures offers a promising way to overcome these problems. Here, the Pd@Layered-CoO x /MFI bifunctional catalyst with core-shell active sites was rationally fabricated though a two-step ligand pyrolysis method, which exhibits a superb oxidation efficiency toward ethyl acetate (EA). Over this, 13.4% of EA (1000 ppm) can be oxidized at just 140 °C with a reaction rate of 13.85 mmol·g Pd -1 ·s -1 , around 176.7 times higher than that of the conventional Pd-CoO x /MFI catalyst. The electronic coupling of the Pd-Co pair promotes the electron back-donation from Pd nanoparticles to the layered CoO x shell and facilitates the formation of Pd 2+ species, which greatly enhances the adsorption and activation of the electron-rich C═O bond of the EA molecules. In addition, the synergy of these core-shell Pd@Layered-CoO x sites accelerates the activation and transformation of *O species, which inhibit the formation of acetaldehyde and ethanol byproducts, ensuring the rapid total oxidation of EA molecules via the Mars-van Krevelen mechanism. This work established a solid foundation for exploring robust bifunctional catalysts for deep OVOC purification.

The widespread presence of formaldehyde (HCHO) pollutant has aroused significant environmental and health concerns. The catalytic oxidation of HCHO into CO 2 and H 2 O at ambient temperature is regarded as one of the most efficacious and environmentally friendly approaches; to achieve this, however, accelerating the intermediate formate species formation and decomposition remains an ongoing obstacle. Herein, a unique tandem catalytic system with outstanding performance in low-temperature HCHO oxidation is proposed on well-structured Pd/Mn 3 O 4 -MnO catalysts possessing bifunctional catalytic centers. Notably, the optimized tandem catalyst achieves complete oxidation of 100 ppm of HCHO at just 18 °C, much better than the Pd/Mn 3 O 4 (30%) and Pd/MnO (27%) counterparts as well as other physical tandem catalysts. The operando analyses and physical tandem investigations reveal that HCHO is primarily activated to gaseous HCOOH on the surface of Pd/Mn 3 O 4 and subsequently converted to H 2 CO 3 on the Pd/MnO component for deep decomposition. Theoretical studies disclose that Pd/Mn 3 O 4 exhibits a favorable reaction energy barrier for the HCHO → HCOOH step compared to Pd/MnO; while conversely, the HCOOH → H 2 CO 3 step is more facilely accomplished over Pd/MnO. Furthermore, the nanoscale intimacy between two components enhances the mobility of lattice oxygen, thereby facilitating interfacial reconstruction and promoting interaction between active sites of Pd/Mn 3 O 4 and Pd/MnO in local vicinity, which further benefits sustained HCHO tandem catalytic oxidation. The tandem catalysis demonstrated in this work provides a generalizable platform for the future design of well-defined functional catalysts for oxidation reactions.
