Turbine blisk is one of the typical components of gas turbine engines. The fatigue life of turbine blisk directly affects the reliability and safety of both turbine blisk and aeroengine whole-body. To monitor the performance degradation of an aeroengine, an efficient deep learning-based modeling method called convolutional-deep neural network (C-DNN) method is proposed by absorbing the advantages of both convolutional neural network (CNN) and deep neural network (DNN), to perform the probabilistic low cycle fatigue (LCF) life prediction of turbine blisk regarding uncertain influencing parameters. In the C-DNN method, the CNN method is used to extract the useful features of LCF life data by adopting two convolutional layers, to ensure the precision of C-DNN modeling. The two close-connected layers in DNN are employed for the regression modeling of aeroengine turbine blisk LCF life, to keep the accuracy of LCF life prediction. Through the probabilistic analysis of turbine blisk and the comparison of methods (ANN, CNN, DNN and C-DNN), it is revealed that the proposed C-DNN method is an effective mean for turbine blisk LCF life prediction and major factors affecting the LCF life were gained, and the method holds high efficiency and accuracy in regression modeling and simulations. This study provides a promising LCF life prediction method for complex structures, which contribute to monitor health status for aeroengines operation.

Abstract Introduction Observational studies have found that most patients with arthritis have depression. We aimed to determine the causal relationship between various types of arthritis and depression. Methods We conducted a two‐sample bidirectional Mendelian randomized (MR) analysis to determine whether there was a significant causal relationship between depression and multiple types of arthritis. The data of our study were derived from the publicly released genome‐wide association studies (GWASs) and the largest GWAS meta‐analysis. MR analysis mainly used inverse‐variance weighted method; supplementary methods included weighted median, weighted mode, and MR‐Egger using MR pleiotropy residual sum and outlier to detect and correct for the presence of pleiotropy. Results After adjusting for heterogeneity and horizontal pleiotropy, we found that depression was associated with an increased risk of osteoarthritis (OA) (OR = 1.02, 95%CI: 1.01–1.02, p = 2.96 × E − 5). In the reverse analysis, OA was also found to increase the risk of depression (OR = 1.10, 95%CI: 1.04–1.15, p = .0002). Depression only increased the risk of knee OA (KOA) (OR = 1.25, 95%CI: 1.10–1.42, p = 6.46 × E − 4). Depression could potentially increase the risk of spondyloarthritis (OR = 1.52, 95%CI: 1.19–1.94, p ≤ 8.94 × E − 4). Conclusion There is a bidirectional causal relationship of depression with OA. However, depression only augments the risk of developing KOA. Depression may increase the risk of spondyloarthritis and gout.

Abstract Nanotechnology‐inspired small‐sized water‐enabled electricity generation (WEG) has sparked widespread research interest, especially when applied as an electricity source for off‐grid low‐power electronic equipment and systems. Currently, WEG encompasses a wide range of physical phenomena, generator structures, and power generation environments. However, a systematic framework to clearly describe the connections and differences between these technologies is unavailable. In this review, a comprehensive overview of generator technologies and the typical mechanisms for harvesting water energy is provided. Considering the different roles of water in WEG processes, the related technologies are presented as two different scenarios. Moreover, a detailed analysis of the electrical potential formation in each WEG process is presented, and their similarities and differences are elucidated. Furthermore, a comprehensive compilation of advanced generator architectures and system designs based on hydrological cycle processes is presented, along with their respective energy efficiencies. These nanotechnology‐inspired small‐sized WEG devices show considerable potential for applications in the Internet of Things ecosystem (i.e., microelectronic devices, integrated circuits, and smart clothing). Finally, the prospects and future challenges of WEG devices are also summarized.

ABSTRACT The appearance and prevalence of multidrug-resistance (MDR) Gram-negative bacteria (GNB) have limited our antibiotic capacity to control bacterial infections. The clinical efficacy of colistin (COL), considered as the “last resort” for treating GNB infections, has been severely hindered by its increased use as well as the emergence and prevalence of mobile colistin resistance (MCR)-mediated acquired drug resistance. Identifying promising compounds to restore antibiotic activity is becoming an effective strategy to alleviate the crisis of increasing MDR. We first demonstrated that the combination of berberine (BBR) and EDTA substantially restored COL sensitivity against COL-resistant Salmonella and Escherichia coli. Molecular docking indicated that BBR can interact with MCR-1 and the efflux pump system AcrAB-TolC, and BBR combined with EDTA downregulated the expression level of mcr-1 and tolC. Mechanically, BBR combined with EDTA could increase bacterial membrane damage, inhibit the function of multidrug efflux pump, and promote oxidative damage, thereby boosting the action of COL. In addition, transcriptome analysis found that the combination of BBR and EDTA can accelerate the tricarboxylic acid cycle, inhibit cationic antimicrobial peptide (CAMP) resistance, and attenuate Salmonella virulence. Notably, the combination of BBR and EDTA with COL significantly reduced the bacterial load in the liver and spleen of a mice model infected with Salmonella. Our findings revealed that BBR and EDTA can be used as adjuvants collectively with COL to synergistically reverse the COL resistance of bacteria.IMPORTANCEColistin is last-resort antibiotic used to treat serious clinical infections caused by MDR bacterial pathogens. The recent emergence of transferable plasmid-mediated COL resistance gene mcr-1 has raised the specter of a rapid worldwide spread of COL resistance. Coupled with the fact of barren antibiotic development pipeline nowadays, a critical approach is to revitalize existing antibiotics using antibiotic adjuvants. Our research showed that berberine combined with EDTA effectively reversed COL resistance both in vivo and in vitro through multiple modes of action. The discovery of berberine in combination with EDTA as a new and safe COL adjuvant provides a therapeutic regimen for combating Gram-negative bacteria infections. Our findings provide a potential therapeutic option using existing antibiotics in combination with antibiotic adjuvants and address the prevalent infections caused by MDR Gram-negative pathogens worldwide.

Reservoir numerical simulation is an important tool and method for the reasonable and efficient development of shale reservoirs. Accurate description of three-dimensional fractures in shale reservoir development is a necessary and sufficient condition to improve the accuracy and robustness of shale reservoir numerical simulation. This paper achieves precise characterization of complex fracture shapes and oil, gas and water flow by establishing an embedded discrete fracture model based on a non-structural network, which has advantages in the fine characterization of complex morphological fractures in the reservoir and the grid division of the reservoir. In the large matrix solution method, the Newton-Raphson method is used to linearize the nonlinear equations, the Jacobian matrix is ​​constructed, the ILU method is used for preprocessing, the conjugate gradient method is used to solve the linear equations, and the shale oil quasi-elasticity is established A fully implicit solution method for mathematical models of energy development.

Abstract Background Dreaming sometimes occurs during sedation. It has been reported that factors such as different anesthetics, depth of anesthesia, age, sex, and preoperative psychological state may affect dreams. Ciprofol and remimazolam are novel choices for painless endoscopy. Herein, we aimed to investigate dreaming during gastrointestinal endoscopy under propofol, ciprofol, and remimazolam anesthesia respectively. Methods This is a prospective, parallel-design double-blind, single-center clinical trial. Three hundred and sixty subjects undergoing elective painless gastroscopy, colonoscopy, or gastroenteroscopy will be enrolled. Eligible subjects will undergo propofol-, ciprofol-, or remimazolam-induced anesthesia to finish the examination. Interviews about the modified Brice questionnaire will be conducted in the recovery room. Incidence of dreaming is set as the primary outcome. Secondary outcomes include type of dreams, improvement of sleep quality, evaluation of patients, incidence of insufficient anesthesia, and intraoperative awareness. Safety outcomes are the incidences of hypotension and hypoxia during examination and adverse events during recovery. Discussion This study may observe different incidences of dreaming and diverse types of dreams, which might lead to different evaluations to the anesthesia procedure. Based on the coming results, anesthesiologists can make a better medication plan for patients who are going to undergo painless diagnosis and treatment. Background: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a common musculoskeletal condition that affects dynamic balance control and increases the risk of falling during walking. However, the mechanisms underlying this are still unclear. Diminished ankle proprioception during walking has been found to be related to fear of falling in older adults, with a gender difference in incidence of falling. This study aimed to determine 1) whether ankle inversion proprioceptive acuity during walking is impaired in patients with KOA; and 2) whether there is any difference between genders.Methods: Thirty-two patients with KOA (F:M = 17:15, Median age = 52.5, BMI = 22.3 ± 3.0) and 34 healthy controls without KOA (HC) (F:M = 17:17; median age = 49.0, BMI = 22.5 ± 2.7) were recruited. In patients with KOA, ankle inversion proprioceptive acuity was measured on the affected side using the ankle inversion discrimination apparatus for walking (AIDAW), whilst HC were assessed on a randomly selected side. Two-way (2*2) analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed to determine the main effects and interaction between gender and KOA condition.Results: Two-way ANOVA showed a significant KOA main effect (F = 26.6, p < 0.001, ƞp2 = 0.3) whereby AIDAW scores during walking for individuals with KOA were significantly lower than those without KOA (KOA vs. HC: 0.746 ± 0.057 vs. 0.807 ± 0.035). There was neither a gender main effect nor interaction (both p > 0.05).Conclusion: Individuals with KOA demonstrated lower ankle proprioception scores during walking compared to their healthy counterparts, with a similar level of impairment in ankle proprioceptive acuity between male and female patients. A low score may contribute to an increased risk of falling in the KOA population. The current findings suggest the need for global concern about lower limb proprioception in the clinical management of KOA.

Immune cell therapy as a revolutionary treatment modality, significantly transformed cancer care. It is a specialized form of immunotherapy that utilizes living immune cells as therapeutic reagents for the treatment of cancer. Unlike traditional drugs, cell therapies are considered “living drugs,” and these products are currently customized and require advanced manufacturing techniques. Although chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapies have received tremendous attention in the industry regarding the treatment of hematologic malignancies, their effectiveness in treating solid tumors is often restricted, leading to the emergence of alternative immune cell therapies. Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) cell therapy, cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cell therapy, dendritic cell (DC) vaccines, and DC/CIK cell therapy are designed to use the body’s natural defense mechanisms to target and eliminate cancer cells, and usually have fewer side effects or risks. On the other hand, cell therapies, such as chimeric antigen receptor-T (CAR-T) cell, T cell receptor (TCR)-T, chimeric antigen receptor-natural killer (CAR-NK), or CAR-macrophages (CAR-M) typically utilize either autologous stem cells, allogeneic or xenogeneic cells, or genetically modified cells, which require higher levels of manipulation and are considered high risk. These high-risk cell therapies typically hold special characteristics in tumor targeting and signal transduction, triggering new anti-tumor immune responses. Recently, significant advances have been achieved in both basic and clinical researches on anti-tumor mechanisms, cell therapy product designs, and technological innovations. With swift technological integration and a high innovation landscape, key future development directions have emerged. To meet the demands of cell therapy technological advancements in treating cancer, we comprehensively and systematically investigate the technological innovation and clinical progress of immune cell therapies in this study. Based on the therapeutic mechanisms and methodological features of immune cell therapies, we analyzed the main technical advantages and clinical transformation risks associated with these therapies. We also analyzed and forecasted the application prospects, providing references for relevant enterprises with the necessary information to make informed decisions regarding their R&D direction selection.

Introduction: Voluntary lateral weight shifting is essential for gait initiation. However, kinematic changes during voluntary lateral weight shifting remain unknown in people with low back pain (LBP). This study aims to explore the differences in kinematics and muscle activation when performing a voluntary lateral weight shifting task between patients with LBP and asymptomatic controls without pain.Methods: Twenty-eight participants volunteered in this study (14 in both the LBP group and the control group). The Sway Discrimination Apparatus (SwayDA) was used to generate a postural sway control task, mimicking lateral weight shifting movements when initiating gait. Kinematic parameters, including range of motion (ROM) and standard deviation of ROM (Std-ROM) of the lumbar spine, pelvis, and lower limb joints, were recorded using a motion capture system during lateral weight shifting. The electroactivity of the trunk and lower limb muscles was measured through surface electromyography using root mean square (RMS). The significant level was 0.05. An independent t-test was employed to compare kinematic parameters, and muscle activation between the LBP group and the control group. A paired-sample t-test, adjusted with Bonferroni correction (significant level of 0.025), was utilized to examine differences between the ipsilateral weight shifting towards side (dominant side) and the contralateral side.Results: The results of kinematic parameters showed significantly decreased ROM and std-ROM of the ipsilateral hip in the transverse plane (tROM = −2.059, p = 0.050; tstd-ROM = −2.670, p = 0.013), as well as decreased ROM of the ipsilateral knee in the coronal plane (t = −2.148, p = 0.042), in the LBP group compared to the control group. For the asymptomatic controls, significantly larger ROM and ROM-std were observed in the hip and knee joints on the ipsilateral side in contrast to the contralateral side (3.287 ≤ t ≤ 4.500, 0.001 ≤ p≤ 0.006), but no significant differences were found between the two sides in the LBP group. In addition, the LBP group showed significantly lower RMS of the biceps femoris than the control group (tRMS = −2.186, p = 0.044).Discussion: Patients with LBP showed a conservative postural control pattern, characterized by reduced ROM of ipsilateral joints and diminished activation of the biceps femoris. These findings suggested the importance of voluntary postural control assessment and intervention to maximize recovery.

PurposeWe investigated the value of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) histogram features, a non-invasive method, in assessing the changes in chemoresistance of colorectal cancer xenografts in rats.MethodsA total of 50 tumor-bearing mice with colorectal cancer were randomly divided into two groups: control group and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) group. The MRI histogram characteristics and the expression levels of p53 protein and MRP1 were obtained at 24 h, 48 h, 72 h, 120 h, and 168 h after treatment.ResultsSixty highly repeatable MRI histogram features were obtained. There were 16 MRI histogram parameters and MRP1 resistance protein differences between groups. At 24 h after treatment, the MRI histogram texture parameters of T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) images (10%, 90%, median, energy, and RootMeanSquared) and D images (10% and Range) were positively correlated with MRP1 (r = 0.925, p = 0.005). At 48 h after treatment, histogram texture parameters of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) images (Energy) were positively correlated with the presence of MRP1 resistance protein (r = 0.900, p = 0.037). There was no statistically significant difference between MRI histogram features and p53 protein expression level.ConclusionsMRI histogram texture parameters based on T2WI, D, and ADC maps can help to predict the change of 5-FU resistance in colorectal cancer in the early stage and provide important reference significance for clinical treatment.

IntroductionLow back pain (LBP) is associated with altered somatosensory perception, which is involved in both involuntary and voluntary control of posture. Currently, there is a lack of methods and tools for assessing somatosensory acuity in patients with LBP. The purpose of this study was (1) to assess the reliability of the sway discrimination apparatus (SwayDA) (2) to evaluate the differences in somatosensory acuity between patients with LBP and pain-free individuals, and (3) to examine relationships between somatosensory acuity, severity of LBP, and mobility in patients with LBP.MethodsTwenty participants (10 patients with LBP and 10 matched asymptomatic controls) were recruited in a test–retest reliability test. Another 56 participants were recruited for this study with 28 individuals presenting with LBP and a further twenty-eight being asymptomatic. The SwayDA was custom-built to measure somatosensory perception during voluntary anterior–posterior (SwayDA-AP), medial-lateral to the dominant side (SwayDA-ML-D), and non-dominant side (SwayDA-ML-ND) postural sway control. Participants also completed mobility tests, including 10 times and 1-min sit-to-stand tests (10-STS, 1 m-STS). The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) was calculated to quantify somatosensory acuity in discriminating different voluntary postural sway extents.ResultsThe ICC (2.1) for the SwayDA-AP, SwayDA-ML-D, and SwayDA-ML-ND were 0.741, 0.717, and 0.805 with MDC95 0.071, 0.043, and 0.050. Patients with LBP demonstrated significantly lower SwayDA scores (tSwayDA-AP = −2.142, p = 0.037; tSwayDA-ML-D = -2.266, p = 0.027) than asymptomatic controls. The AUC values of the SwayDA-AP test were significantly correlated with ODI (rSwayDA-AP-ODI = −0.391, p = 0.039). The flammability of epoxy resins and knowing how to achieve curing are particularly important factors during use. A novel approach for enhancing the fire resistance and reducing the smoke emission of epoxy resin during the curing process is suggested, which involves the utilization of a three-source integrated polymerization intumescent flame-retardant. In this study, the synthesis of poly 4,4-diaminodiphenylsulfone spirocyclic pentaerythritol bisphosphonate (PCS) is achieved through using solution polymerization, utilizing 4,4′-diaminodiphenylsulfone (DDS) and spirocyclic pentaerythritol bisphosphorate disphosphoryl chloride (SPDPC) as initial components. Following that, the EP underwent the inclusion of PCS to examine its resistance to heat, its ability to prevent flames, its effectiveness in reducing smoke and its curing effect. Compared to the unmodified epoxy resin, the addition of PCS can not only cure the epoxy resin, but also decompose before the epoxy resin and has a good carbonization effect. With the addition of 7 wt.% PCS, the LOI value can achieve 31.2% and successfully pass the UL-94 test with a V-0 rating. Moreover, the cone calorimeter experiment demonstrated a noteworthy decline of 59.7% in the maximum heat release rate (pHRR), 63.7% in overall heat release (THR), and 42.3% in total smoke generation (TSP). Based on the examination of TG-FTIR and SEM findings, there is ample evidence to suggest that PCS, functioning as a phosphorus-nitrogen intumescent flame-retardant that combines three origins, has the potential to exhibit a favorable flame-retardant impact in both its gas and condensed phases.

The emergent van der Waals semiconductor GaPS4 is heralding frontiers for gallium-based semiconductors. Despite its potential, the intricacies of its Raman spectrum and phonon heat transport remain elusive. In this research, experimental and theoretical methods are employed to give a comprehensive portrayal. The Raman spectra and phonon calculations obtained were cross-validated, affirming the study's credibility. A total of 28 Raman peaks were identified, with all phonon irreducible representations delineated. Advanced calculations unveiled notable shifts in the transition of GaPS4 from bulk to monolayer. During this process, phonons undergo a red shift, and the vibration contributions of different atoms change. The lifetime and group velocity of low wavenumber phonons are markedly reduced, suppressing the thermal conductivity in the monolayer. The thermal conductivity of GaPS4 bulk at 300 K is 0.5 W/m K, and 0.13 W/m K for monolayer, while the thermal conductivity in the cleavage direction is lower. These findings offer a detailed account of the complex Raman spectra and phonon thermal transport properties of GaPS4, setting the stage for its subsequent exploration and prospective applications in electronic and thermal devices, and contributing to enriching condensed matter theory of phonon thermal transport in van der Waals materials. This cross-over study aimed to explore effects of acute whole-body vibration (WBV) at frequencies of 5–35 Hz on heart rate variability and brain excitability. Thirteen healthy physically active college students randomly completed eight interventions under the following conditions: static upright standing without vibration (CON), static squat exercise (knee flexion 150°) on the vibration platform (SSE), and static squat exercise (knee flexion 150°) combined with WBV at vibration frequency of 5, 9, 13, 20, 25, and 35 Hz. Five bouts × 30 s with a 30-s rest interval were performed for all interventions. The brain’s direct current potentials (DCPs), frequency domain variables (FDV) including normalized low frequency power (nLF), normalized high frequency power (nHF) and the ratio of LF to HF (LF/HF), along with the mean heart rate (MHR) were collected and calculated before and after the WBV intervention. Results suggested that WBV frequency at 5 Hz had a substantial effect on decreasing DCPs [−2.13 μV, t(84) = −3.82, p < 0.05, g = −1.03, large] and nLF [−13%, t(84) = −2.31, p = 0.04, g = −0.62, medium]. By contrast, 20–35 Hz of acute WBV intervention considerably improved DCPs [7.58 μV, t(84) = 4.31, p < 0.05, g = 1.16, large], nLF [17%, t(84) = 2.92, p < 0.05, g = 0.79, large] and the LF/HF [0.51, t(84) = 2.86, p < 0.05, g = 0.77, large]. A strong (r = 0.7, p < 0.01) correlation between DCPs and nLF was found at 5 Hz. In summary, acute WBV at 20–35 Hz principally activated the sympathetic nervous system and increased brain excitability, while 5-Hz WBV activated the parasympathetic nervous system and reduced brain excitability.
