Language has been widely acknowledged as the benchmark of intelligence. However, evidence from cognitive science shows that intelligent behaviors in robust social interactions preexist the mastery of language. This review approaches human‐unique intelligence, specifically cooperation and communication, from an agency‐based theory of mind (ToM) account, emphasizing the ability to understand others' behaviors in terms of their underlying mental states. This review demonstrates this viewpoint by first reviewing a series of empirical works on the socio‐cognitive development of young children and non‐human primates in terms of their capacities in communication and cooperation, strongly suggesting that these capacities constitute the origin of human‐unique intelligence. Following, it reviews how ToM can be formalized as a Bayesian inference of the mental states given observed actions. Then, it reviews how Bayesian ToM can be extended to model the interaction of minds in cooperation and communication. The advantage of this approach is that non‐linguistic knowledge such as the visual environment can serve as the contextual constraint for multiple agents to coordinate with sparse and limited signals, thus demonstrating certain cognitive architectures underlying human communication. Background: Coinfection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and the hepatitis B virus (HBV) occurs in 5-67% of patients with HIV. HIV weakens the human immune system and leads to various tumors. Patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and HIV experience poor treatment efficacy and have a short survival period. Approximately 70% of cases of HCC are diagnosed at advanced stages due to the subtle onset of the disease. As a result, most cases are not suits for curative therapy. Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) is the first-line treatment for intermediate-stage HCC and is commonly used to treat unresectable HCC in China. Recent advancements in systemic treatments have significantly enhanced the effectiveness of unresectable HCC treatment. Several previous study showed that combination treatment combination therapy can enhance the efficacy. Notably, studies proposed that TACE combined targeted drugs with immune checkpoint inhibitors results in a high objective response rate and overall survival. However, the novelty of this study lies in its report of a complete response using a triple combination in patients with HIV and HCC with main trunk portal vein tumor thrombus., Case Presentation: A 57-year-old woman was diagnosed with HCC with a main trunk portal vein tumor thrombus combined with HIV infection, cirrhosis, and chronic viral hepatitis. She underwent TACE and was administered donafenib and tislelizumab. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the involvement of the TLR4/NF-κB/NLRP3 signaling pathway and its underlying mechanism in diabetic dry eye., Methods: Two models of diabetic dry eye were established in high glucose-induced human corneal epithelial (HCE-T) cells and streptozotocin (STZ)-induced C57BL/6 mice, and the TLR4 inhibitor fosfenopril (FOS) was utilized to suppress the TLR4/NF-κB/NLRP3 signaling pathway. The expression changes in TLR4, NF-κB, NLRP3, and IL-1β, and other factors were detected by Western blot and RT‒qPCR, the wound healing rate was evaluated by cell scratch assay, and the symptoms of diabetic mice were evaluated by corneal sodium fluorescein staining and tear secretion assay., Results: In the diabetic dry eye model, the transcript levels of TLR4, NF-κB, NLRP3, and IL-1β were raised, and further application of FOS, a TLR4 inhibitor, downregulated the levels of these pathway factors. In addition, FOS was found to be effective in increasing the wound healing rate of high glucose-induced HCE-T cells, increasing tear production, and decreasing corneal fluorescence staining scores in diabetic mice, as measured by cell scratch assay, corneal sodium fluorescein staining assay, and tear production., Conclusions: The current study found that the TLR4/NF-κB/NLRP3 signaling pathway regulates diabetic dry eye in an in vitro and in vivo model, and that FOS reduces the signs of dry eye in diabetic mice, providing a new treatment option for diabetic dry eye.
