Basalts from the Late Carboniferous to Early Permian are extensively developed in the central Lhasa subterrane, southern Tibet. Studying the petrogenesis of these rocks may have implications for the late Paleozoic arc magmatism along the central Lhasa subterrane uncovering more of the evolution of the Sumdo Paleo‐Tethys Ocean and its dynamic mechanism. Basalt samples from the Luobadui Formation in the Leqingla area, NW of Linzhou City in the central Lhasa subterrane, southern Tibet exhibit arc‐like geochemical signatures in a subduction‐zone tectonic setting characterized by high Al2O3 and low TiO2 contents, fractionated REE patterns with low Nb/La ratios and high LREE concentrations, and negative HFSE anomalies. Based on their higher Th/Ce, Nb/Zr, and lower Ba/Th, Pb/Nd ratios, slightly negative to positive εNd(t) values, and the relatively high Sr‐Pb isotopic compositions, these samples were probably derived from partial melting of a depleted mantle source of garnet + spinel lherzolite, metasomatized by subducted sediments around 297 Ma. Modeling of the trace elements indicates that these basalts experienced fractional crystallization of olivine, clinopyroxene and minor plagioclase during magma ascent and eruption. It is proposed that these Late Carboniferous–Early Permian basalts are associated with the northward subduction of the Sumdo Paleo‐Tethys Ocean seafloor along the southern margin of the central Lhasa subterrane. Objective Methods Results Conclusion To evaluate the safety and efficacy of myomectomy for recurrent uterine fibroids (UFs) after high‐intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablation.This was a retrospective study. Patients who underwent abdominal myomectomy (AM) and laparoscopic myomectomy (LM) from January 2018 to December 2021 at the Three Gorges Hospital of Chongqing University were included. Among them, 73 had undergone prior HIFU ablation (Group 1), while 120 had not undergone HIFU (Group 2). Outcome measures included operating time, estimated blood loss (EBL), blood transfusion, postoperative activity times (PAT), duration of hospital stay (DOHS), and complications.The operating time was 90.0 min (70.5, 115.0) for Group 1 and 110.0 min (81.5, 130.0) for Group 2 (P < 0.05). During all AM pathways, there were no significant differences observed between the two groups in EBL, blood transfusion, PAT, DOHS, and complications; however, operating time was shorter in Group 1. The operating time, EBL, blood transfusion, PAT, DOHS, and complications were similar in both groups during LM pathway. During the follow‐up 40 (range: 24–53) months, the rate of relief, recurrence, and reintervention in Groups 1 and 2 was 78.1% versus 74.1%, 14.6% versus 16.4%, and 3.7% versus 2.6%, respectively (P > 0.05).Myomectomy is a safe and effective surgical method for treating recurrent UFs after HIFU. Myomectomy for treating recurrent UFs resulted in a shorter operative and hospital stay, reduced blood loss, faster postoperative recovery, and fewer complications, better symptom relief rates, and lower risk of recurrence or reintervention. With the increasing consumer focus on automotive safety, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) systems, recognized as effective active safety technologies for collision avoidance and the mitigation of collision-related injuries, are gaining wider application in the automotive industry. To address the issues of the insufficient working reliability of AEB systems and their unsatisfactory level of accordance with the psychological expectations of drivers, this study proposes an optimized second-order Time to Collision (TTC) safety time algorithm based on the motion state of the preceding vehicle. Additionally, the study introduces a safety distance algorithm derived from an analysis of the braking process of the main vehicle. The safety time algorithm focusing on comfort and the safety distance algorithm focusing on safety are effectively integrated in the time domain and the space domain to obtain the safety time–safety distance fusion algorithm. A MATLAB/Simulink–Carsim joint simulation platform has been established to validate the AEB control strategy in terms of safety, comfort, and system responsiveness. The simulation results show that the proposed safety time–safety distance fusion algorithm consistently achieves complete collision avoidance, indicating a higher safety level for the AEB system. Furthermore, the application of active hierarchical braking minimizes the distance error, at under 0.37 m, which meets psychological expectations of drivers and improves the comfort of the AEB system. To cope with global warming and increasing carbon emissions, the chemical looping process has attracted attention due to its excellent ability to convert fossil fuel and capture CO2. In this case, chemical looping partial oxidation technology has become the focus of attention due to its advantages in the production of syngas and hydrogen, especially with respect to the design and selection of oxygen carriers, which directly affect the efficiency of the production of syngas and hydrogen. In particular, the conversion of methane can reach 95% in the chemical looping partial oxidation of methane, and the selectivity of syngas, in the range of 700 °C to 900 °C at atmospheric pressure, can reach 99% for twenty or more cycles. In this review, from the perspective of metal oxide selection and structure regarding the chemical looping partial oxidation process, we discuss the role of oxygen carriers in the chemical looping partial oxidation cycle, in which the specific surface area, the lattice oxygen mobility, and the thermal stability are understood as the important factors affecting reactivity. We hope to summarize the design and development of efficient oxygen carriers with high oxygen-carrying capacity and syngas selectivity, as well as contribute to the selection, design, optimization, and redox reaction mechanism of redox catalysts. Background: Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) is widely used in the functional food and nutraceutical industries due to its important benefits to human health. Oleaginous microorganisms are considered a promising alternative resource for the production of EPA lipids. However, the storage of EPA in triglyceride (TG) becomes a key factor limiting its level. Results: This study aimed to incorporate more EPA into TG storage through metabolic engineering. Firstly, key enzymes for TG synthesis, the diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT) and glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase (GPAT) genes from Schizochytrium sp. HX-308 were expressed in Yarrowia lipolytica to enhance lipid and EPA accumulation. In addition, engineering the enzyme activity of DGATs through protein engineering was found to be effective in enhancing lipid synthesis by replacing the conserved motifs "HFS" in ScDGAT2A and "FFG" in ScDGAT2B with the motif "YFP". Notably, combined with lipidomic analysis, the expression of ScDGAT2C and GPAT2 enhanced the storage of EPA in TG. Finally, the accumulation of lipid and EPA was further promoted by identifying and continuing to introduce the ScACC, ScACS, ScPDC, and ScG6PD genes from Schizochytrium sp., and the lipid and EPA titer of the final engineered strain reached 2.25 ± 0.03 g/L and 266.44 ± 5.74 mg/L, respectively, which increased by 174.39% (0.82 ± 0.02 g/L) and 282.27% (69.70 ± 0.80 mg/L) compared to the initial strain, respectively. Conclusion: This study shows that the expression of lipid synthesis genes from Schizochytrium sp. in Y. lipolytica effectively improves the synthesis of lipids and EPA, which provided a promising target for EPA-enriched microbial oil production. Accurate prediction of TCR-pMHC binding is important for the development of cancer immunotherapies, especially TCR-based agents. Existing algorithms often experience diminished performance when dealing with unseen epitopes, primarily due to the complexity in TCR-pMHC recognition patterns and the scarcity of available data for training. We have developed a novel deep learning model, 'TCR Antigen Binding Recognition' based on BERT, named as TABR-BERT. Leveraging BERT's potent representation learning capabilities, TABR-BERT effectively captures essential information regarding TCR-pMHC interactions from TCR sequences, antigen epitope sequences and epitope-MHC binding. By transferring this knowledge to predict TCR-pMHC recognition, TABR-BERT demonstrated better results in benchmark tests than existing methods, particularly for unseen epitopes. Squalene (C 30 H 50 ) is an acyclic triterpenoid compound renowned for its myriad physiological functions, such as anticancer and antioxidative properties, rendering it invaluable in both the food and pharmaceutical sectors. Due to the natural resource constraints, microbial fermentation has emerged as a prominent trend. Schizochytrium sp., known to harbor the intact mevalonate acid (MVA) pathway, possesses the inherent capability to biosynthesize squalene. However, there is a dearth of reported key genes in both the MVA and the squalene synthesis pathways, along with the associated promoter elements for their modification. This study commenced by cloning and characterizing 13 endogenous promoters derived from transcriptome sequencing data. Subsequently, five promoters exhibiting varying expression intensities were chosen from the aforementioned pool to facilitate the overexpression of the squalene synthase gene squalene synthetase (SQS), pivotal in the MVA pathway. Ultimately, a transformed strain designated as SQS-3626, exhibiting squalene production 2.8 times greater than that of the wild-type strain, was identified. Finally, the optimization of nitrogen source concentrations and trace element contents in the fermentation medium was conducted. This review aims to present a comprehensive synthesis of the existing treatment modalities for keratosis pilaris (KP) and evaluate their therapeutic efficacy. KP is a prevalent chronic dermatological condition typified by its unique 'chicken skin appearance', with the cheeks being the most commonly involved sites. Numerous therapeutic interventions have emerged, given its substantial prevalence and impact on skin aesthetics and psychological wellbeing. Nonetheless, a consistent therapeutic response has been challenging to achieve. This review endeavours to collate and critically appraise the current treatment landscape for KP. An exhaustive literature search was performed using databases such as Ovid, PubMed and Scopus. From an initial count of 459 articles identified after deduplication, 52 were selected for inclusion after a thorough full-text examination for articles with concrete outcome data highlighting the efficacies of different therapeutic modalities; articles that lacked data or were tangential to the core focus on KP treatment were excluded. The included articles were then catalogued based on the nature of treatment strategies and their respective outcomes. Among the various therapeutic interventions, laser and light modalities appear to be supported by the most substantial evidence base. Notably, the Nd:YAG (neodymium-doped yttrium-aluminium-garnet) laser, attributed to its longer wavelength, emerged as a preferred option. While other therapeutic avenues have also exhibited notable improvements in skin texture and discolouration relative to baseline, the inconsistency in outcome measures underscores the need for a standardized, KP-specific scoring system to foster a more coherent comparison across treatments. Based on the current evidence, Nd:YAG laser therapy demonstrates promising effectiveness with a relatively favourable side-effect profile. This study aimed to explore the potential of liquid biopsy as a diagnostic tool by integrating two key biomarkers, Circulating Tumor Cells (CTCs) and Circulating Tumor DNA (ctDNA), and to enhance the detection fidelity of prostate cancer. A dual biomarker analysis approach was employed to synergize the sensitivities of CTCs and ctDNA. Various genetic mutations of ctDNA and tissues were scrutinized, investigating their prevalence, co-existence, and mutual exclusivity. The findings uncovered a more intricate mutation landscape than previously anticipated, indicating a complex interplay between cellular and genetic aberrations in prostate cancer. Through harnessing the combined power of CTCs and ctDNA, our dual biomarker approach provides a more comprehensive understanding of prostate cancer genetics. This has the potential to revolutionize early detection and guide personalized therapeutic interventions.

With full-field imaging and high photon efficiency advantages, structured illumination microscopy (SIM) is one of the most potent super-resolution (SR) modalities in bioscience. Regarding SR reconstruction for SIM, spatial domain reconstruction (SDR) has been proven to be faster than traditional frequency domain reconstruction (FDR), facilitating real-time imaging of live cells. Nevertheless, SDR relies on high-precision parameter estimation for reconstruction, which tends to suffer from low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) conditions and inevitably leads to artifacts that seriously affect the accuracy of SR reconstruction. In this Letter, a physics-enhanced neural network-based parameter-free SDR (PNNP-SDR) is proposed, which can achieve SR reconstruction directly in the spatial domain. As a result, the peak-SNR (PSNR) of PNNP-SDR is improved by about 4 dB compared to the cross-correlation (COR) SR reconstruction; meanwhile, the reconstruction speed of PNNP-SDR is even about five times faster than the fast approach based on principal component analysis (PCA). Given its capability of achieving parameter-free imaging, noise robustness, and high-fidelity and high-speed SR reconstruction over conventional SIM microscope hardware, the proposed PNNP-SDR is expected to be widely adopted in biomedical SR imaging scenarios.

Study Objective: This study aimed to explore the relationship between intravenous 5% dextrose infusion during emergence from anesthesia to postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) in patients after gynecologic laparoscopic surgery., Design: This was a double-blind randomized controlled trial. Participants were randomized into the experimental group and control group using a computer-generated random number generator. Intervenors and measurers were blinded to group assignments of the study., Setting: A single academic tertiary medical center., Patients: Patients undergoing gynecologic laparoscopic surgery., Interventions: On completion of surgery, participants were randomized into the test group (receive 5% dextrose) and control group (receive Ringer's lactate solution)., Measurements and Main Results: The primary outcome of the present study was the incidence of PONV. Other outcomes included postoperative rescue analgesic and rescue antiemetic, postoperative pain response, and recovery time of postanesthesia care unit. Baseline characteristics were statistically similar between the 2 groups of participants. There were 49 of 105 patients experienced PONV within 24 hours postoperatively. The overall incidence of PONV within 24 hours postoperatively was not significantly different (45.5% vs 48%; relative risk [RR], 0.95; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.67-1.37; p = .794). However, fewer patients experienced PONV in the test group than in the control group during 0 to 1 hours (6.0% vs 20.0%; RR, 0.85; 95% CI, 0.73-0.99; p = .024) and 1 to 3 hours (14.5% vs 32.0%; RR, 0.80; 95% CI, 0.64-0.99; p = .033) postoperatively. In addition, recovery time in the postanesthesia care unit was less in the test group (17.07 ± 6.36 vs 22.04 ± 7.33; mean difference, -4.97; 95% CI, -7.62 to -2.32; p <.001) and pain score was lower in the test group during 0 to 0.5 hours postoperatively (2.29 ± 1.74 vs 3.08 ± 1.64; mean difference, -0.79; 95% CI, -1.45 to -0.13; p = .019)., Conclusion: In patients after gynecologic laparoscopic surgery, postanesthesia 5% dextrose infusion may be useful in improving the early management of PONV and pain response and may warrant further study., (Copyright © 2024 AAGL.
