Background: The growing number of aging people, ensuring their quality of life (QoL), and the social services designed for this population group are becoming increasingly significant concerns. This study explored how socioeconomic status and self-care affect older adults’ QoL. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 322 older people living in Tabriz in 2021. The subjects were recruited using a multi-stage sampling method. Older persons were asked to complete the Socio-Economic Status (SES) questionnaire, the Self-Care Behavior Questionnaire, and the Iranian version of the 12-item Short Form Health Survey (SF-12). Results: A hierarchical logistic regression analysis model was used to investigate the factors influencing QoL. The regression analysis showed that marital status, social self-care, and self-care during illness significantly impacted the older person’s quality of life (p < 0.05). Twenty-nine and twenty-seven percent of the variance in the mental and physical health dimensions, respectively, were predicted by the variables included in the model.Conclusion: Promoting social self-care and self-care during illness had a positive relationship with the QoL of older persons. These results can serve as a reference for future studies pertinent to self-care for older adults.

Background: Thyroid problems have been reported in over 110 countries worldwide. In some countries, the prevalence of known thyroid disorders has been reported to be as high as 18.9%. Given that thyroid dysfunction can adversely affect adult health, we aimed to assess the prevalence of thyroid disease and related factors in the Fasa Persian Cohort Study Centre.Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in southwestern Iran. It included 10,132 participants, with an average age of 48.63. Demographic and clinical data were used as baseline cohort information. Multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted to investigate factors associated with thyroid disease.Results: The prevalence of thyroid disease was 8.8%. According to the results of the multiple analysis gender (AORfemale/ male=5.94.95% CI: 1.66-7.58), education level (AOR Literate/ Illiterate=1.21, 95% CI: 1.04-1.40), diabetes (AORYes/No=1.32, 95% CI: 1.09-1.69), hypertension (AORYes/No=1.38, 95% CI: 1.17-1.64), depression (AORYes/No=1.72, 95% CI: 1.38-2.13) were associated with the odds of thyroid disease. Also, metabolic equivalent task (MET) (AOR=0.99, 95% CI: 0.02-0.083), duration sleep (AOR6- 7/≤5=0.77, 95% CI: 0.61-0.97), and duration sleep (AOR≥8/≤5=0.80, 95% CI: 0.64-0.99) were identified as protective factors in the study.Conclusion: This study’s findings indicated that the total prevalence of thyroid disease in adults was 8.8%. The researchers found that gender, education level, hypertension, diabetes, and depression increased the odds of thyroid disease. In addition, duration of sleep and MET were identified as protective factors. Further consideration of thyroid disease and screening for this population is recommended.

Background: Childbearing plays a crucial role in population movements and one of the most important factors in societal development. Nowadays, given the decrease in fertility rates, especially in developed and some developing countries, and the multitude of factors affecting these rates, this study aims to investigate the association of positive body image and childbearing intention in Iran. Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional study involved all health care centers of Qaen city, eastern Iran. The list of reproductive-age women and men in each center was extracted from the Ministry of Health of Iran's database. Ultimately, 494 individuals were included in the study using available convenience sampling method. Data were collected applying demographic information questionnaire, “body appreciation scale-2 (BAS-2) and childbearing intention questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS.26 software. Results: Of 494 participants in this study, 50 % were men. The average age of the participants was 32.25 years (SD = 8.02). The average age of women was higher than that of men. In this study, the mean and SDs of positive body image score and childbearing intention were 39.49 (SD = 8.14) and 2.36 (SD = 1.63), respectively. Background: The incidence of traffic accidents in Iran is significantly higher than the global average (more than 17000 deaths a year, mostly young adults). The aim of this study was to determine the risk factors of high-risk drivers based on their observable driving behaviors, police records, and car condition in Fars province (Iran).Methods: In this case-control study, an interviewer interviewed a random sample (about 1 in 5 of the drivers) of all drivers who were referred to Shiraz traffic accident court from March 21, 2021, to June 21, 2021, due to being involved in a traffic accident. Based on the police report, we interviewed at-fault drivers who caused injurious or fatal traffic accidents as the case group (200 at-fault drivers) and those not-at-fault drivers as the control group (200 not-at-fault drivers). No matching was done. Data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire filled out through face-to-face interviews with the drivers. Using univariate and multivariate logistic regression, the statistical analyses were conducted in R 4.0.2 software.Results: In this study, a total of 400 drivers were interviewed, of whom 367 (91.8%) were male. The mean ages of the case and control groups were 32.35 years (SD=9.84) and 31.75 (SD=10.33) years, respectively (P>0.05). In addition, 102 (51.0%) and 95 (47.5%) drivers were married in the case and control groups, respectively.
