The Sichuan Basin in Southeastern China contains extensive bedded cherts dating back to the Late Ordovician–Early Silurian period. To investigate the origin and depositional environment of these cherts, we conducted a comprehensive study using field observations, thin sections microscopic, silicon isotope analysis, and major and trace element geochemistry of samples from three sections. Our results indicate that the cherts from Wufeng and Longmaxi formations are non-hydrothermal, normal biogenic seawater deposits mainly affected by terrigenous input and slightly associated with volcanic ash. Al2O3/(Al2O3 + Fe2O3T) and LaN/CeN ratios, δCe values and Fe2O3T/TiO2 − Al2O3/(Al2O3 + Fe2O3T), Fe2O3T/(100 − SiO2) − Al2O3/(100 − SiO2), 100 × (Fe2O3T/SiO2) – 100 × (Al2O3/SiO2), and LaN/CeN − Al2O3/(Al2O3 + Fe2O3T) discrimination diagrams indicated that the bedded cherts deposited in the continental margin environment. Background: 3% chloroprocaine (CP) has been reported as the common local anesthetic used in pregnant women undergoing urgent cesarean delivery during labor analgesia period. However, 0.75% ropivacaine is considered a promising and effective alternative. Therefore, we conducted a randomized controlled trial to compare the effectiveness and safety of 0.75% ropivacaine with 3% chloroprocaine for extended epidural anesthesia in pregnant women. Methods: We conducted a double-blind, randomized, controlled, single-center study from November 1, 2022, to April 30, 2023. We selected forty-five pregnant women undergoing urgent cesarean delivery during labor analgesia period and randomized them to receive either 0.75% ropivacaine or 3% chloroprocaine in a 1:1 ratio. The primary outcome was the time to loss of cold sensation at the T4 level. Results: There was a significant difference between the two groups in the time to achieve loss of cold sensation (303, 95%CI 255 to 402 S vs. 372, 95%CI 297 to 630 S, p = 0.024). There was no significant difference the degree of motor block (p = 0.185) at the Th4 level. Fewer pregnant women required additional local anesthetics in the ropivacaine group compared to the chloroprocaine group (4.5% VS. 34.8%, p = 0.011). The ropivacaine group had lower intraoperative VAS scores (p = 0.023) and higher patient satisfaction scores (p = 0.040) than the chloroprocaine group. The incidence of intraoperative complications was similar between the two groups, and no serious complications were observed. Conclusions: Our study found that 0.75% ropivacaine was associated with less intraoperative pain treatment, higher patient satisfaction and reduced the onset time compared to 3% chloroprocaine in pregnant women undergoing urgent cesarean delivery during labor analgesia period. Therefore, 0.75% ropivacaine may be a suitable drug in pregnant women undergoing urgent cesarean delivery during labor analgesia period. Background: Femoral nerve block (FNB) is a prevalent method used for postoperative pain management after knee surgery; however, it decreases the strength of the quadriceps muscle and is not conducive to early recovery after surgery. Pectineus muscle plane (PMP) block involves the injection of a local anaesthetic into the fascial plane below the pectineus muscle, where it blocks the obturator and saphenous nerves. However, there is little evidence on the effectiveness of PMP block for analgesia after knee surgery. The aim of this trial is to assess whether PMP block can improve postoperative analgesia, promote early recovery and reduce the length of hospital stay., Methods and Analysis: In this randomised controlled study, 46 patients will be randomly allocated into two groups: the PMP block group (n=23) and the FNB group (n=23). The primary outcome measures will include Visual Analog Scale scores for pain at rest and during movement at various time points following knee surgery. Secondary outcomes will include the degree of active flexion, straight leg raise test performance, get-out-of-bed test result, 20 m walk test result, total dose administered via patient-controlled analgesia infusion pumps, hospital stay duration, patient satisfaction and postoperative complications, such as pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis.This study protocol adheres to rigorous standards for ethical conduct and patient safety.
