Purpose: To analyze the causal factors of the nursing diagnosis of ineffective breathing pattern (IBP) in children with congenital heart disease., Methods: This was a cross-sectional study carried out in a tertiary hospital located in northeastern Brazil. Our sample was composed of 340 children with congenital heart disease. The latent class model with adjusted random effects determined the IBP. Univariate logistic regression analysis was performed for each IBP nursing diagnosis causal factor., Results: The analysis of etiological factors for the nursing diagnosis of IBP in children with congenital heart disease revealed a high prevalence of all causal factors investigated. The causal factors with the greatest impact on the occurrence of IBP were body position that inhibits pulmonary expansion; physical effort; pain; age less than two years; increased resistance to air passages; and reduced pulmonary compliance., Conclusions: The occurrence of causal factors, body position that inhibits pulmonary expansion, physical effort, pain and age less than two years increases the chance of IBP nursing diagnosis in children with congenital heart disease., Implications to Practice: The results obtained in this investigation can guide pediatric nurses in making diagnostic decisions, as identifying the causal factors that trigger or potentiate IBP in children with congenital heart disease allows nurses to intervene early, facilitating the maintenance of breathing patterns., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest The author(s) declared no potential conflict of interest with respect to the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article., (Copyright © 2025 Elsevier Inc. Objective: To evaluate the accuracy of the defining characteristics of the nursing diagnosis Impaired skin integrity (00046) in patients admitted to intensive care units (ICUs)., Methods: A cross-sectional diagnostic accuracy study was conducted with 105 adult patients admitted to an ICU. A latent class model with random effects was used to test the sensitivity and specificity of the defining characteristics investigated. The diagnosis Impaired skin integrity (00046) was the dependent variable, whereas sociodemographic and clinical data were the independent variables., Results: Impaired skin integrity was present in 3.75% of the sample. The defining characteristic with the best accuracy for the diagnosis was dry skin, with high sensitivity (0.9994) and specificity (0.9106). Other characteristics stood out in terms of sensitivity measures: altered skin color (0.9994) and foreign matter piercing skin (0.9994). In terms of specificity, the following stood out: desquamation (1.000), localized area hot to touch (0.9901), pruritus (0.9897), bleeding (0.9802), and hematoma (0.9208)., Conclusion: The defining characteristics that helped infer the diagnosis Impaired skin integrity (00046) with greater certainty were dry skin, altered skin color, foreign matter piercing skin, desquamation, localized area hot to touch, pruritus, bleeding, and hematoma., Implications for Nursing Practice: Identifying defining characteristics with high diagnostic accuracy for Impaired skin integrity (00046) enables nurses to expand their clinical perspective on this dysfunction, which can affect the skin of critically ill patients, and to develop individualized care plans., (© 2025 NANDA International, Inc.)

Objective: To analyze the concept of sexual dysfunction in postpartum women and identify their essential attributes, antecedents, and effects., Method: Concept analysis based on a framework by Walker and Avant, elaborated in eight stages, which were: concept selection; identification of the use of the concept; determination of essential attributes; construction of the model case; additional case; identification of antecedents and effects; and definition of empirical references. Furthermore, an integrative review was carried out simultaneously, with a view to supporting the analysis of the concept., Results: The sample consisted of 55 studies included in the integrative review. 3 essential attributes, 38 antecedents and 6 effects were identified. The most prevalent antecedents were: perineal laceration, depression, and breastfeeding. Dyspareunia, decreased sexual desire, and altered sexual satisfaction were the main effects., Conclusion: The concept indicates that the diagnosis involves multifactorial conditions that affect the sexual response cycle, limiting the woman's ability to perform satisfactory sexual relations in the postpartum period.
