Abstract The objective of this study is to utilize optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) techniques for the purpose of identifying abnormalities in retinal and conjunctival vascular density among patients afflicted with renal hypertension. From October 2022 to October 2023, a cohort of sixteen patients diagnosed with renal hypertension (RH), comprising a total of 32 eyes, was selected from the Department of Nephrology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University. Concurrently, a group of sixteen healthy individuals, carefully matched in characteristics, was recruited from volunteers at the Ophthalmology Research Center and designated as the healthy controls (HCs) group. Optical coherence tomography angiography was employed to assess and examine the superficial vascular plexus (SVP) and deep vascular plexus (DVP) of the macular retina in both eyes. AIM: To examine the disparities in macular retinal vascular density between individuals with connective tissue disease-related interstitial lung disease (CTD-ILD) and healthy controls (HCs) by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and to investigate the changes in microvascular density in abnormal eyes. METHODS: For a retrospective case-control study, a total of 16 patients (32 eyes) diagnosed with CTD-ILD were selected as the ILD group. AIM: To study functional brain abnormalities in patients with hypertensive retinopathy (HR) and to discuss the pathophysiological mechanisms of HR by fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (fALFFs) method. METHODS: Twenty HR patients and 20 healthy controls (HCs) were respectively recruited. The age, gender, and educational background characteristics of the two groups were similar. After functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scanning, the subjects' spontaneous brain activity was evaluated with the fALFF method. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to classify the data. Further, we used Pearson's correlation analysis to explore the relationship between fALFF values in specific brain regions and clinical behaviors in patients with HR. RESULTS: The brain areas of the HR group with lower fALFF values than HCs were the right orbital part of the middle frontal gyrus (RO-MFG) and right lingual gyrus. Abstract Acute pancreatitis, a common exocrine inflammatory disease affecting the pancreas, is characterized by intense abdominal pain and multiple organ dysfunction. However, the alterations in retinal blood vessels among individuals with acute pancreatitis remain poorly understood. This study employed optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) to examine the superficial and deep retinal blood vessels in patients with pancreatitis. Sixteen patients diagnosed with pancreatitis (32 eyes) and 16 healthy controls (32 eyes) were recruited from the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University for participation in the study. Various ophthalmic parameters, such as visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and OCTA image for retina consisting of the superficial retinal layer (SRL) and the deep retinal layer (DRL), were recorded for each eye. The study observed the superficial and deep retinal microvascular ring (MIR), macrovascular ring (MAR), and total microvessels (TMI) were observed. Changes in retinal vascular density in the macula through annular partitioning (C1–C6), hemispheric quadrant partitioning (SR, SL, IL, and IR), and early diabetic retinopathy treatment studies (ETDRS) partitioning methods (R, S, L, and I). Correlation analysis was employed to investigate the relationship between retinal capillary density and clinical indicators. Our study revealed that in the superficial retinal layer, the vascular density of TMI, MIR, MAR, SR, IR, S, C2, C3 regions were significantly decreased in patients group compared with the normal group. For the deep retinal layer, the vascular density of MIR, SR, S, C1, C2 regions also reduced in patient group. The ROC analysis demonstrated that OCTA possesses significant diagnostic performance for pancreatitis. In conclusion, patients with pancreatitis may have retinal microvascular dysfunction, and OCTA can be a valuable tool for detecting alterations in ocular microcirculation in pancreatitis patients in clinical practice.

Abstract Myocardial infarction is defined as a sudden decrease or interruption in blood flow to the coronary arteries, causing ischemic necrosis of the corresponding cardiomyocytes. It is unclear whether systemic macrovascular alterations are associated with retinal microvascular changes. This study utilized optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) to compare variations in conjunctival vascular density and fundus retinal vessel density between patients with myocardial infarction (MI) and healthy controls. This study recruited 16 patients (32 eyes) with MI and 16 healthy controls (32 eyes). The superficial retinal layer (SRL), deep retinal layer (DRL) and conjunctival capillary plexus in each eye were evaluated by OCTA. Parameters measured included the density of the temporal conjunctival capillary, retinal microvascular (MIR) and macrovascular (MAR) alterations and total MIR (TMI). Background: Although gastric adenocarcinoma (GA) related ocular metastasis (OM) is rare, its occurrence indicates a more severe disease. We aimed to utilize machine learning (ML) to analyze the risk factors of GA-related OM and predict its risks. Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study. The clinical data of 3532 GA patients were collected and randomly classified into training and validation sets in a ratio of 7:3. Those with or without OM were classified into OM and non-OM (NOM) groups. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator were conducted. We integrated the variables identified through feature importance ranking and further refined the selection process using forward sequential feature selection based on random forest (RF) algorithm before incorporating them into the ML model. We applied six ML algorithms to construct the predictive GA model. The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve indicated the model's predictive ability. Also, we established a network risk calculator based on the best performance model. We used Shapley additive interpretation (SHAP) to identify risk factors and to confirm the interpretability of the black box model. We have de-identified all patient details. Results: The ML model, consisting of 13 variables, achieved an optimal predictive performance using the gradient boosting machine (GBM) model, with an impressive area under the curve (AUC) of 0.997 in the test set. Utilizing the SHAP method, we identified crucial factors for OM in GA patients, including LDL, CA724, CEA, AFP, CA125, Hb, CA153, and Ca 2+ . Additionally, we validated the model's reliability through an analysis of two patient cases and developed a functional online web prediction calculator based on the GBM model. Conclusion: We used the ML method to establish a risk prediction model for GA-related OM and showed that GBM performed best among the six ML models. The model may identify patients with GA-related OM to provide early and timely treatment.

Quantum secure direct communication (QSDC) guarantees both the security and reliability of information transmission using quantum states. One-photon-interference QSDC (OPI-QSDC) is a technique that enhances the transmission distance and ensures secure point-to-point information transmission, but it requires complex phase locking technology. This paper proposes a mixed-encoding one-photon-interference QSDC (MO-QSDC) protocol that removes the need for phase locking technology. During non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep, neural ensembles in the entorhinal-hippocampal circuit responsible for encoding recent memories undergo reactivation to facilitate the process of memory consolidation. This reactivation is widely acknowledged as pivotal for the formation of stable memory and its impairment is closely associated with memory dysfunction. To date, the neural mechanisms driving the reactivation of neural ensembles during NREM sleep remain poorly understood. Here, we show that the neural ensembles in the medial entorhinal cortex (MEC) that encode spatial experiences exhibit reactivation during NREM sleep. Notably, this reactivation consistently coincides with isolated theta waves. In addition, we found that the nucleus reuniens (RE) in the midline thalamus exhibits typical theta waves during NREM sleep, which are highly synchronized with those occurring in the MEC in male mice. Closed-loop optogenetic inhibition of the RE-MEC pathway specifically suppressed these isolated theta waves, resulting in impaired reactivation and compromised memory consolidation following a spatial memory task in male mice. The findings suggest that theta waves originating from the ventral midline thalamus play a role in initiating memory reactivation and consolidation during sleep. High-k gate dielectrics have attracted a great deal of attention in the investigation of transistors due to their unique properties such as superior gate controllability. However, their integration into graphene field-effect transistors (GFETs) remains problematic and the physical mechanisms governing the performance of these devices are still not fully understood. In this study, the effects of post-annealing on GFETs utilizing the high-k HfLaO ternary oxide as the gate dielectric were comprehensively investigated. The HfLaO film was deposited on top of graphene by magnetron sputtering, and the device performance with various post-annealing temperatures was conducted. It was found that post-annealing temperature can effectively increase the dielectric constant through balancing the oxygen-vacancy defects and moisture absorption. Both the surface morphology of HfLaO and performance of GFETs were investigated, and the fabricated GFETs exhibit notable electrical performance enhancements. Specifically, GFETs with a 200 °C post-annealed HfLaO gate dielectric demonstrate the optimal device performance, featuring a minimal Dirac point voltage (VDirac) of 1.1 V and a minimal hysteresis (ΔVDirac) of 0.5 V. The extracted hole and electron mobilities are 4012 and 1366 cm2/V · s, respectively, nearly one order of magnitude higher than that of GFETs with as-deposited HfLaO. This work outperforms other existing GFETs utilizing high-k gate dielectric and chemical vapor deposition grown graphene in terms of both carrier mobility and on–off ratio. It is also noted that the excessive post-annealing temperature can negatively impact the GFET performance through introducing oxygen vacancies, increasing the surface roughness, lowering the breakdown voltage, and inducing recrystallization. In this paper, we further verify the validity of the quantum partial adiabatic search algorithm which was initialized in the previous related works by revisiting its quantum circuit model. The main results got here are as follows. When considering implementing quantum partial adiabatic evolution on a quantum circuit, a correction is given for the time slice estimation for the first stage during this approximation in the previous related works, new evidence is provided for a time complexity cost O (N / M) of quantum partial adiabatic algorithm is impossible, and the correct time complexity O (N / M) of it is emphasized once more according to its circuit correspondence, in which N is the total number of elements in the search problem of which M of them are the marked ones. Using CloudSat/CALIPSO satellite data and ERA5 reanalysis data from 2006 to 2010, the effects of aerosols on ice- and mixed-phase, single-layer, non-precipitating clouds over the Tibetan Plateau during nighttime in the MAM (March to May), JJA (June to August), SON (September to November), and DJF (December to February) seasons were examined. The results indicated the following: (1) The macrophysical and microphysical characteristics of ice- and mixed-phase clouds exhibit a nonlinear trend with increasing aerosol optical depth (AOD). When the logarithm of AOD (lnAOD) was ≤−4.0, with increasing AOD during MAM and JJA nights, the cloud thickness and ice particle effective radius of ice-phase clouds and mixed-phase clouds, the ice water path and ice particle number concentration of ice-phase clouds, and the liquid water path and cloud fraction of mixed-phase clouds all decreased; during SON and DJF nights, the cloud thickness of ice-phase clouds, cloud top height, liquid droplet number concentration, and liquid water path of mixed-phase clouds all decreased. When the lnAOD was >−4.0, with increasing AOD during MAM and JJA nights, the cloud top height, cloud base height, cloud fraction, and ice particle number concentration of ice-phase clouds, and the ice water path of mixed-phase clouds all increased; during SON and DJF nights, the cloud fraction of mixed-phase clouds and the ice water path of ice-phase clouds all increased. (2) Under the condition of excluding meteorological factors, including the U-component of wind, V-component of wind, pressure vertical velocity, temperature, and relative humidity at the atmospheric pressure heights near the average cloud top height, within the cloud, and the average cloud base height, as well as precipitable water vapor, convective available potential energy, and surface pressure. When the lnAOD was ≤−4.0, an increase in aerosols may have led to a decrease in the thickness of ice and mixed-phase cloud layers, as well as a reduction in cloud water path values. The presence of toxic organic pollutants in aquatic environments poses significant threats to human health and global ecosystems. Photocatalysis that enables in situ production and activation of H2O2 presents a promising approach for pollutant removal; however, the processes of H2O2 production and activation potentially compete for active sites and charge carriers on the photocatalyst surface, leading to limited catalytic performance. Herein, a hierarchical 2D/2D heterojunction nanosphere composed of ultrathin BiOBr and BiOI nanosheets (BiOBr/BiOI) is developed by a one‐pot microwave‐assisted synthesis to achieve in situ H2O2 production and activation for efficient photocatalytic wastewater treatment. Various experimental and characterization results reveal that the BiOBr/BiOI heterojunction facilitates efficient electron transfer from BiOBr to BiOI, enabling the one‐step two‐electron O2 reduction for H2O2 production. Moreover, the ultrathin BiOI provides abundant active sites for H2O2 adsorption, promoting in situ H2O2 activation for •O2− generation. As a result, the BiOBr/BiOI hybrid exhibits excellent activity for pollutant degradation with an apparent rate constant of 0.141 min−1, which is 3.8 and 47.3 times that of pristine BiOBr and BiOI, respectively. This work expands the range of the materials suitable for in situ H2O2 production and activation, paving the way toward sustainable environmental remediation using solar energy. Background: The low response rate of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) prompts the exploration of novel combination therapies for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Here, we aimed to examine the efficiency and potential mechanism of cryo‐thermal ablation (Cryo‐A) combined with anti‐programmed death protein 1 (αPD1) and/or cytotoxic T‐lymphocyte antigen 4 (αCTLA4) inhibitors in a murine hepatoma model. Method: Immunocompetent C57BL/6 mice inoculated with unilateral or bilateral H22 hepatic tumour cells were treated with Cryo‐A and/or ICIs (αPD1 and/or αCTLA4). Flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, ELISpot assay, time‐of‐flight cytometry, tumour rechallenging, and T‐cell depletion assay were used to assess the dynamic changes of immune cell subsets following therapy. Results: We found Cryo‐A resulted in immunogenic cell death of tumour cells, activation of dendritic cells, and enhancement of antitumor immunity. Cryo‐A alone was insufficient to extend survival, combining Cryo‐A with αPD1 and αCTLA4 further modulated the tumour microenvironment, inducing a durable antitumor immune response by tumour‐reactive CD8+ T cells and significantly prolonged survival. Time‐of‐flight cytometry (CyTOF) data revealed that combination therapies reshaped the tumour microenvironment by the increase of intratumoral CD8+ T cells expressed higher levels of cytotoxic markers and immune checkpoint molecules, and by downregulation of intratumoral granulocytes. The combination also resulted in the eradication of remote unablated tumours (abscopal effect). Conclusions: These findings suggested that Cryo‐A turned HCC from "cold" tumours to "hot" tumours and the combination of Cryo‐A with αPD1 and αCTLA4 may be a promising approach to improve the prognosis of HCC. In recent years, the area of newly planted C. oleifera forest has been expanding, which led to a larger yield potential in Guizhou Province. This paper combeded the main problems of camellia processing industry development in Guizhou Province, including a lack of scale production, basic research and deep processing technology, as sell as a lack of powerful brands and quality management system. It foucused on discussion of processing industry, and pointed out keys to healthy develop Guizhou camellia processing industry. Ventricular arrhythmias are the leading cause of sudden cardiac death in patients after myocardial infarction (MI). Connexin43 (Cx43) is the most important gap junction channel-forming protein in cardiomyocytes. Dysfunction of Cx43 contributes to impaired myocardial conduction and the development of ventricular arrhythmias. Following an MI, Cx43 undergoes structural remodeling, including expression abnormalities, and redistribution. These alterations detrimentally affect intercellular communication and electrical conduction within the myocardium, thereby increasing the susceptibility to post-infarction ventricular arrhythmias. Emerging evidence suggests that post-translational modifications play essential roles in Cx43 regulation after MI. Therefore, Cx43-targeted management has the potential to be a promising protective strategy for the prevention and treatment of post infarction ventricular arrhythmias. In this article, we primarily reviewed the regulatory mechanisms of Cx43 mediated post-translational modifications on post-infarction ventricular arrhythmias. The cytological diagnosis of atypical squamous cells that cannot exclude high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (ASC-H) is subjective and entails great variation in the risk of HSIL+. Therefore, we retrospectively analyzed the clinicopathological outcomes of patients with ASC-H cytology from January 2018 to June 2021 to determine associated predictors for diagnosing HSIL+ and explore their appropriate clinical management. Overall, 279 patients with ASC-H cytology were enrolled, 64.9% (181/279) of whom were histopathologically confirmed as HSIL+. Further analysis showed that only human papillomavirus (HPV) positivity was an independent risk factor for HSIL+ in ASCH patients. Additionally, no significant difference was observed in the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) of the three HPV testing methods (hybrid capture (HC) II, HPV E6E7 mRNA and HPV genotyping testing) for detecting HSIL+ (p > 0.05). The perfect agreement between colposcopy and final histology was 40.5%, with a κ value of 0.145. The sensitivity, specificity, PPV and NPV of colposcopy for detecting HSIL+ were 32.6%, 91.8%, 87.9% and 42.3%, respectively. After cervical conization, none of the patients diagnosed with normal/benign histopathology by cervical biopsy was reclassified to HSIL+, while 39.5% (17/43) of the low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL) patients were reclassified as HSIL. During follow-up, ASC-H patients diagnosed with LSIL had a high rate of normalization (70%) and a low rates of persistence (20%) and progression (10%). In four ASC-H patients younger than 30 years old with HSIL (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) 2), two normalized and two persisted during followup. In conclusion, ASC-H patients should be directly referred for colposcopy and undergo biopsy irrespective of their age, menopausal status and HPV status. Recent advances in speaker embeddings promote a great development of speaker diarization. However, determining 'who spoke when' in the meeting scenarios is still challenging due to similar speaker voices and unknown speaker quantity. In this paper, this research proposes enhanced discriminative features for speaker diarization, including discriminative speaker-specific features based on Siamese networks, and a speaker re-verification method. With Siamese architecture, SiamTDNN, this research first explores latent representations which is capable of modeling intra-class and inter-class differences between speakers, by training with audio pairs. Then, the re-verification method is introduced with a local-global strategy to identify speakers in a multi-person talking scene. Our method provides a novel speaker embedding with enhanced discriminative power for disambiguated speakers and achieves an elevated upper bound on the number of speakers. The proposed speaker embedding achieved an EER of 1.1% and a minDCF of 0.1192 on VoxCeleb1 for the speaker verification task. Extensive experiments on AiShell-4, ICSI, AMI and VoxConverse demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method with an average DER reduction of 3% and an RTF of 0.0792. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between perceived social support and adolescent non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) behavior. 3539 adolescents were recruited to complete the Multidimensional Social Support Scale, Hope Scale, Resilience Scale for Chinese Adolescents and NSSI Scale. The results showed that perceived social support significantly negatively predicted adolescent NSSI behavior, and resilience played a mediating role between perceived social support and adolescent NSSI behavior. In addition, perceived social support could also promote the levels of adolescent resilience through hope, thereby further reducing the frequency of adolescent NSSI behavior. The results suggest that the intervention of adolescent NSSI can start from providing a safe and effective external environment. Highlights: This study revealed the internal mechanism of NSSI from the perspective of "environment-psychological ability-behavior" for the first time. The results showed that resilience played a mediating role between perceived social support and adolescent NSSI behavior. In this study, we found that hope and resilience, which are both positive psychological traits, had different influence paths on adolescent NSSI behavior. Hope needed to affect NSSI behavior by promoting resilience, but resilience could directly affect NSSI behavior. This suggested us that there may be a certain type of positive psychological quality that could protect adolescents from NSSI. From the perspective of positive development, this study explored the protective factors and their internal mechanisms that influence NSSI.
