Abstract

In order to promote the development of the next generation of nano-spintronic devices, it is of great significance to tune the freedom of valley in two-dimensional (2D) materials. Here, we propose a mechanism for manipulating the valley and nonlinear Hall effect by the 2D ferroelectric substrate. The monolayer Mn2P2S3Se3 is a robust antiferromagnetic valley polarized semiconductor. Importantly, the valley polarized metal-semiconductor phase transition of Mn2P2S3Se3 can be effectively tuned by switching the ferroelectric polarization of Sc2CO2. We reveal the microscopic mechanism of phase transition, which origins from the charge transfer and band alignment. Additionally, we find that transformed polarization direction of Sc2CO2 flexibly manipulate the Berry curvature dipole. Based on this discovery, we present the detection valley polarized metal-semiconductor transition by the nonlinear Hall effect devices. These findings not only offer a scheme to tune the valley degree of freedom, but also provide promising platform to design the nonlinear Hall effect devices., Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures

Abstract

The development of alternative catalytic systems toward high‐performance CO2 photoreduction is considered to be a promising approach to address the future energy demand and reduce the CO2 emissions. However, CO2 molecules are thermodynamically stable in nature, and thus the adsorption and activation of CO2 on the surface of catalysts are the key factors to determine the conversion efficiency. Herein, a porous liquid (NH2‐UIO‐66 PL) is demonstrated for efficiently facilitating the adsorption and activation of CO2 by modification of metal–organic framework (NH2‐UIO‐66) with ionic liquid via amide bonds. CdS/NH2‐UIO‐66 PL exhibits high‐performance CO2‐to‐CO photoreduction with CO yield of 71.37 µmol g−1 h−1 and selectivity of 100%. Experiments and theoretical calculations show that the introduced amide moieties not only enriched the electron density at Zr4+ active sites but also stabilize *COOH intermediate. The achievements provide an effective strategy for the development of metal–organic frameworks for energy catalysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

5. Spinel-Based Catalysts That Enable Catalytic Oxidation of Volatile Organic Compounds

Abstract

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have caused serious harm to human health and ecological environment, and have received much attention in recent years. Despite the successful applications of catalytic combustion of VOCs as the core technology of VOCs removal in industry, the development of efficient catalysts that can mineralize VOCs into nontoxic CO2and H2O at low temperatures remains a great challenge. Recent studies show that spinel-based materials as efficient catalysts were extensively used in the catalytic oxidation VOCs field due to their synergistic effect, manifold compositions, and electron configurations. However, most of the pollutants are complex, consisting of multiple VOCs, water vapor, CO2, SO2and other substances, which presents a significant challenge in constructing highly active and stable catalysts. To meet the future demand for efficient catalysts capable of removing various types of VOCs, it is urgent to rationally design and scientifically prepare spinel catalysts based on existing knowledge. This work reviews the research and development of various spinel catalysts with an emphasis on their catalytic performance in VOCs oxidation. The catalytic performance of spinel-based catalysts for different sorts of VOCs was summarized and compared. Moreover, the effects of the reaction conditions on the catalytic performance of spinel-based catalysts were examined to accommodate complicated operating conditions. Subsequently, the regulation of spinel oxides in structure and defect was coherently reviewed to guide the development and design of efficient catalysts. Especially, the research techniques for the reaction mechanism over spinel catalysts were displayed to better deepen the understanding of catalytic oxidation of VOCs. Finally, the current development and challenges were proposed and put forward for future research. This review provided a systematic understanding of the VOCs oxidation over spinel-based catalysts and offered guidance for the development of high-performance catalysts for VOCs elimination.
