Objective: To investigate the decision-making process of women returning to work after maternity leave or parental leave and explore the influence of cultural norms and societal expectations on their choices. Additionally, we seek to understand the lived experiences of the women in this context. Introduction: Cultural norms and societal expectations significantly affect women's decisions regarding post-childbirth employment. However, a comprehensive understanding of these influences on women's experiences returning to work after parental leave is lacking. Inclusion criteria: We will include qualitative studies examining women's decision-making processes and experiences of returning to work after parental leave, with a focus on the influence of cultural norms and societal expectations. Studies from diverse cultural and geographical settings, including peer-reviewed journals and gray literature, will be considered without restrictions on publication date or language. Methods: The review will adhere to the JBI approach for qualitative systematic reviews. Major academic databases and search engines, such as CINAHL, PubMed, and Google Scholar, will be used. Study selection will involve screening titles and abstracts for relevance, followed by a full-text assessment against inclusion criteria by two independent reviewers. Critical appraisal using the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist for Qualitative Research will evaluate study rigor. Data extraction will be conducted by two independent reviewers, using the standardized JBI data extraction tool within JBI SUMARI, to identify key themes and findings related to the women's decision-making process and lived experiences of returning to work after parental leave. The meta-aggregation approach will be utilized to synthesize findings, with confidence assessed through study quality and consistency. Any methodological deviations will be documented. Findings will be graded using the ConQual approach and presented in a summary of findings table. Discussion: By synthesizing data from different cultural contexts, this review will help bridge the gap in understanding how these factors influence women's choices. Rigor in the review will be ensured through the process of study selection, appraisal, and synthesis using the JBI approach. Spine disorders are the leading cause of disability worldwide. To promote social inclusion, it is essential to ensure that people can participate in their societies by improving their ability, opportunities, and dignity, through access to high-quality, evidence-based, and affordable spine services for all. To achieve this goal, SPINE20 recommends six actions. - SPINE20 recommends that G20 countries deliver evidence-based education to the community health workers and primary care clinicians to promote best practice for spine health, especially in underserved communities. - SPINE20 recommends that G20 countries deliver evidence-based, high-quality, cost-effective spine care interventions that are accessible, affordable and beneficial to patients. - SPINE20 recommends that G20 countries invest in Health Policy and System Research (HPSR) to generate evidence to develop and implement policies aimed at integrating rehabilitation in primary care to improve spine health. - SPINE20 recommends that G20 countries support ongoing research initiatives on digital technologies including artificial intelligence, regulate digital technologies, and promote evidence-based, ethical digital solutions in all aspects of spine care, to enrich patient care with high value and quality. - SPINE20 recommends that G20 countries prioritize social inclusion by promoting equitable access to comprehensive spine care through collaborations with healthcare providers, policymakers, and community organizations. - SPINE20 recommends that G20 countries prioritize spine health to improve the well-being and productivity of their populations. The U4 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) forms a duplex with the U6 snRNA and, together with U5 and ~30 proteins, is part of the U4/U6.U5 tri-snRNP complex, located at the core of the major spliceosome. Recently, recurrent de novo variants in the U4 RNA, transcribed from the RNU4-2 gene, and in at least two other RNU genes were discovered to cause neurodevelopmental disorder. We detected inherited and de novo heterozygous variants in RNU4-2 (n.18_19insA and n.56T>C) and in four out of the five RNU6 paralogues (n.55_56insG and n.56_57insG) in 135 individuals from 62 families with non-syndromic retinitis pigmentosa (RP), a rare form of hereditary blindness. We show that these variants are recurrent among RP families and invariably cluster in close proximity within the three-way junction (between stem-I, the 5' stem-loop and stem-II) of the U4/U6 duplex, affecting its natural conformation. Interestingly, this region binds to numerous splicing factors of the tri-snRNP complex including PRPF3 , PRPF8 and PRPF31, previously associated with RP as well. The U4 and U6 variants identified seem to affect snRNP biogenesis, namely the U4/U6 di-snRNP, which is an assembly intermediate of the tri-snRNP. Based on the number of positive cases observed, deleterious variants in RNU4-2 and in RNU6 paralogues could be a significant cause of isolated or dominant RP, accounting for up to 1.2% of all undiagnosed RP cases. This study highlights the role of non-coding genes in rare Mendelian disorders and uncovers pleiotropy in RNU4-2 , where different variants underlie neurodevelopmental disorder and RP.
