1. Quantum fractional revival governed by adjacency matrix Hamiltonian in unitary Cayley graphs

Abstract

In this article, we give characterization for existence of quantum fractional revival in unitary Cayley graph utilizing adjacency matrix Hamiltonian. Unitary Cayley graph $X=( Z_n, S)$ is a special graph as connection set $S \subseteq Z_n$ is the collection of coprimes to $n$. Unitary Cayley graph is an integral graph and its adjacency matrix is a circulant one. We prove that quantum fractional revival in unitary Cayley graphs exists only when the number of vertices is even. Number-theoretic and spectral characterizations are given for unitary Cayley graph admitting quantum fractional revival. Quantum fractional revival is analogous to quantum entanglement. It is one of qubit state transfer phenomena useful in communication of quantum information.

Abstract

We study how the rigidity transition in a triangular lattice changes as a function of anisotropy by preferentially filling bonds on the lattice in one direction. We discover that the onset of rigidity in anisotropic spring networks arises in at least two steps, reminiscent of the two-step melting transition in two dimensional crystals. In particular, our simulations demonstrate that the percolation of stress-supporting bonds happens at different critical volume fractions along different directions. By examining each independent component of the elasticity tensor, we determine universal exponents and develop universal scaling functions to analyze isotropic rigidity percolation as a multicritical point. We expect that these results will be important for elucidating the underlying mechanical phase transitions governing the properties of biological materials ranging from the cytoskeletons of cells to the extracellular networks of tissues such as tendon where the networks are often preferentially aligned., Comment: 13 pages, 17 figures

Abstract

Systems driven far from equilibrium often retain structural memories of their processing history. This memory has, in some cases, been shown to dramatically alter the material response. For example, work hardening in crystalline metals can alter the hardness, yield strength, and tensile strength to prevent catastrophic failure. Whether memory of processing history can be similarly exploited in flowing systems, where significantly larger changes in structure should be possible, remains poorly understood. Here, we demonstrate a promising route to embedding such useful memories. We build on work showing that exposing a sheared dense suspension to acoustic perturbations of different power allows for dramatically tuning the sheared suspension viscosity and underlying structure. We find that, for sufficiently dense suspensions, upon removing the acoustic perturbations, the suspension shear jams with shear stress contributions from the maximum compressive and maximum extensive axes that reflect the acoustic training. Because the contributions from these two orthogonal axes to the total shear stress are antagonistic, it is possible to tune the resulting suspension response in surprising ways. For example, we show that differently trained sheared suspensions exhibit: 1) different susceptibility to the same acoustic perturbation; 2) orders of magnitude changes in their instantaneous viscosities upon shear reversal; and 3) even a shear stress that increases in magnitude upon shear cessation. To further illustrate the power of this approach for controlling suspension properties, we demonstrate that flowing states well below the shear jamming threshold can be shear jammed via acoustic training. Abstract

Introduction: A significant portion of the world's population suffers from chronic otitis media (COM), especially in developing nations like India. The primary goals of surgical treatment of COM are to remove middle ear cleft disease and improve hearing. The extent of the preoperative middle ear disease affects the tympanoplasty results. In the current study, the middle ear risk index (MERI) score was calculated, patients were categorized as having mild, moderate, or severe MERI score, and the relationship between the MERI score and the success of tympanoplasty in terms of graft uptake and hearing improvement was examined. Methodology: Fifty patients with mucosal and squamous COM participated in this study. The patients' scores of MERI were classified as mild, moderate, and severe. Graft uptake and hearing improvement were evaluated. By using the Chi-square test, the relationship between MERI score and graft uptake was evaluated. Results: Tympanoplasty has an overall success rate of 80% in terms of graft uptake status and 74% in terms of improved hearing. Conclusion: The MERI score was proven to be a reliable indicator of tympanoplasty success. The graft will be taken-up better and hearing is better with a lower MERI score.

Abstract

The present study investigated the relationship between MSH3 and MSH6 genes in lung cancer patients. Genotyping of lung cancer patients and healthy controls was performed. Odds ratio values were calculated and survival analysis performed. Patients with mutant genotype (TT) for MSH6 polymorphism have 1.5-fold risk for the development of lung cancer (p = 0.03). For non-smokers, the mutant-type genotype had a threefold increased risk of lung cancer (p = 0.01). Patients administered with docetaxel and carbo/cisplatin and carrying GT genotype for MSH6 polymorphism, patients reported a decrease in median survival time (4.9 vs 9.13 months). MSH3 and MSH6 polymorphisms are involved in modulating the risk towards lung cancer. MSH6 polymorphism is associated with high mortality rate for patients undergoing cisplatin and docetaxel chemotherapy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
