Cooling processes like refrigeration and air conditioning are known for their high energy consumption. Since most Indian states experience abundant sunshine year-round, solar refrigeration is a suitable technology for the country. Solar-powered absorption refrigeration systems offer a viable alternative to traditional refrigeration, providing not only cooling and ice-making capabilities but also energy savings and environmental benefits. However, further research is necessary to enable widespread industrial adoption and the replacement of conventional refrigeration systems with solar powered absorption system. Using solar energy for an air-conditioning system is typically more cost-effective, when it can fulfil both heating and cooling needs. This research focuses on the thermodynamic modelling of a system, specifically the effect of various temperature on COP. Thermodynamic modelling was done with the help of first law of thermodynamics. Using engineering equation solver software, study simulated the cycle and equations were developed for energy and mass flow for each component. Further, before proceeding to analysis some assumptions were also made. We then analysed how the Coefficient of Performance (COP) changed when varying the temperatures across each component. Our findings show that COP increases with increase in condenser, evaporator, and absorber temperatures, but it is declined with decrease in generator temperature.

This study investigates the enhancement of aluminum-based composite manufacturing by incorporating Si3N4 reinforcement via the stir casting technique. Aluminum alloy serves as the matrix material, augmented with ceramic reinforcement particles. The alloy is melted at approximately 700°C in a muffle furnace, with ceramic particles gradually introduced and dispersed homogeneously through continuous stirring at 400 rpm for 10 minutes. The uniform distribution of Si3N4 particles underscores the efficacy of the stirring technique. Addition of 7.5% Si3N4 reinforcement results in substantial improvements across mechanical properties: tensile strength increases by 24.76%, hardness by 24.76%, fatigue strength by 26.78%, and wear resistance by 29.50%. These enhancements highlight the effectiveness of Si3N4 reinforcement in augmenting the performance of aluminum composites. The findings hold significant implications for industries requiring lightweight, high-strength materials, such as aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing, suggesting promising avenues for further research and practical applications in advanced engineering materials.

The present study focuses on revolutionizing SS-304 through microwave-assisted cladding of Ni-SiO2 composite coatings, aiming to enhance wear resistance and surface hardness properties. Meticulous preparation steps ensure effective deposition of a Ni and 15% SiO2 particle mixture onto SS-304 substrates. Thorough cleaning and preheating eliminate contaminants and moisture content, crucial for preventing coating defects. Maintaining material-specific skin depth and utilizing microwave hybrid heating ensure precise and uniform coating formation. Microwave-assisted cladding exhibits a uniform distribution of Ni and SiO2 particles across the substrate surface, crucial for consistent coating thickness and mechanical property enhancement. The surface hardness of SS-304 increases significantly by approximately 36.89% post-cladding, highlighting improved wear resistance. Tribological testing reveals favorable performance, with a wear rate of 0.0026 mm³/m and a coefficient of friction of 0.193. These findings underscore the efficacy of microwave-assisted cladding in enhancing the mechanical properties of SS-304, offering valuable insights for applications requiring enhanced durability and frictional performance.

This study explores the advancement of aluminum-based composite manufacturing by leveraging tungsten carbide (WC) reinforcement through the stir casting technique. Aluminum alloy served as the matrix material, enriched with ceramic reinforcement particles. The alloy underwent complete melting in a muffle furnace, maintaining a temperature of about 700°C. Ceramic particles were methodically introduced into the molten alloy, ensuring homogeneous dispersion through continuous stirring at 400 rpm for 10 minutes. The resulting composite exhibited a uniform distribution of WC particles, seamlessly integrated throughout the alloy matrix. Remarkably, the addition of 7% WC reinforcement led to substantial enhancements in mechanical properties: a 22.67% improvement in tensile strength, a remarkable 37.9% increase in hardness, a notable 25.80% enhancement in fatigue strength, and a significant 27.67% improvement in wear resistance. These findings underscore the efficacy of the stir casting technique in optimizing the properties of aluminum-based composites, offering promising avenues for the development of high-performance materials for diverse engineering applications.

Noise pollution from aircraft is a critical environmental issue, affecting not only wildlife but also human health and comfort, especially for populations living near airports. The recent, researchers have been primarily focused on reducing noise pollution in aircraft systems. Among the major contributors to noise pollution are the aircraft engine and nozzle. To address noise in the nozzle, the chevron nozzle, characterized by a sawtooth pattern at its edge, has been commercialized. Thus, there is a need for dependable Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) capabilities to swiftly assess initial designs for noise reduction and analyze problems that involve fluid flows. For noise reduction in aircraft systems, CFD capabilities are essential. This study conducts Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis of the chevron nozzle. Additionally, design optimization is performed utilizing the Taguchi method.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) poses a significant global health challenge due to its highly aggressive nature and invasive characteristics. Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway, a key regulator of various biological processes, is observed in TNBC, and its inhibition holds promise for impeding cancer growth. This in-silico analysis investigates the role of Transcriptional Enhanced Associate Domain 4 (TEAD4) in TNBC and its interaction with Yes Associated Protein (YAP) in cancer progression. Our results demonstrate that TEAD4 upregulation is linked to poor prognosis in TNBC, emphasizing its critical role in the disease. Moreover, we identify CID44521006, an analog of Flufenamic acid, as a potential therapeutic compound capable of disrupting the TEAD4-YAP interaction by binding to the YAP-binding domain of TEAD4. These findings underscore the significance of TEAD4 in TNBC and propose CID44521006 as a promising candidate for therapeutic intervention. The study contributes valuable insights to advance treatment options for TNBC, offering a potential avenue for the development of targeted therapies against this aggressive form of breast cancer. Background: Short birth interval (SBI) has profound implications for the health of both mothers and children, yet there remains a notable dearth of studies addressing wealth-based inequality in SBI and its associated factors in India. This study aims to address this gap by investigating wealth-based disparities in SBI and identifying the underlying factors associated with SBI in India. Methods: We used information on 109,439 women of reproductive age (15–49 years) from the fifth round of the National Family Health Survey (2019-21). We assessed wealth-based inequality in SBI for India and its states using the Erreygers Normalised Concentration Index (ECI). Additionally, we used a multilevel binary logistic regression to assess the factors associated with SBI in India. Results: In India, the prevalence of SBI was 47.8% [95% CI: 47.4, 48.3] during 2019-21, with significant variation across states. Bihar reported the highest prevalence of SBI at 61.2%, while Sikkim the lowest at 18.1%. SBI prevalence was higher among poorer mothers compared to richer ones (Richest: 33.8% vs. Poorest: 52.9%). This wealth-based inequality was visible in the ECI as well (ECI= -0.13, p < 0.001). However, ECI varied considerably across the states. Gujarat, Punjab, and Manipur exhibited the highest levels of wealth-based inequality (ECI= -0.28, p < 0.001), whereas Kerala showed minimal wealth-based inequality (ECI= -0.01, p = 0.643). Multilevel logistic regression analysis identified several factors associated with SBI. Mothers aged 15–24 (OR: 12.01, p < 0.001) and 25–34 (2.92, < 0.001) were more likely to experience SBI. Women who married after age 25 (3.17, < 0.001) and those belonging to Scheduled Caste (1.18, < 0.001), Scheduled Tribes (1.14, < 0.001), and Other Backward Classes (1.12, < 0.001) also had higher odds of SBI. Additionally, the odds of SBI were higher among mothers in the poorest (1.97, < 0.001), poorer (1.73, < 0.001), middle (1.62, < 0.001), and richer (1.39, < 0.001) quintiles compared to the richest quintile. Women whose last child had passed away were also significantly more likely to have SBI (2.35, < 0.001). Furthermore, mothers from communities with lower average schooling levels (1.18, < 0.001) were more likely to have SBI. Geographically, mothers from eastern (0.67, < 0.001) and northeastern (0.44, < 0.001) regions of India were less likely to have SBI. Conclusion: The significant wealth-based inequality in SBI in India highlights the need for targeted interventions focusing on economically disadvantaged women, particularly in states with high SBI prevalence. Tuberculosis (TB) continues to be a major global health burden and kills over a million people annually. New immunization strategies are required for the development of an efficacious TB vaccine that can potentially induce sterilizing immunity. In this study, we first confirmed that a live vaccine strain of Mycobacterium smegmatis, previously designated as IKEPLUS, conferred a higher survival benefit than the Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) in a murine model of intravenous Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection. We have shown that there was a significant increase in the expression of the Rv0282 gene, which is encoded in the esx-3 locus, which played an important role in iron uptake when IKEPLUS was grown in both low zinc and iron-containing Sauton medium. We then confirmed using in vitro assays of biofilm formation that zinc plays a vital role in the growth and formation of M. smegmatis biofilms. IKEPLUS grown in low zinc media led to the better protection of mice after intravenous challenge with a very high dosage of Mtb. We also showed that various variants of IKEPLUS induced apoptotic cell-death of infected macrophages at a higher rate than wild-type M. smegmatis. We next attempted to determine if zinc containing ribosomal proteins such as rpmb2 could contribute to protective efficacy against Mtb infection. Since BCG has an established role in anti-mycobacterial efficacy, we boosted BCG vaccinated mice with rmpb2, but this did not lead to an increment in the protection mediated by BCG.
