The lack of industrialization in production methods and the insufficient development of technologies to improve the efficiency of hives and production processes have led to a decrease in the bee population and in obtaining honey. In response to this problem, the present research implemented a low-power wide-area wireless sensor network (LPWAN), using long-range (LoRa) technology, with the objective of monitoring parameters such as weight, geopositioning, temperature and the humidity of a hive. To carry out this research, a mixed methodology was used that combined qualitative and quantitative methods, and a series of systematic, empirical and critical processes were carried out for the collection, analysis, integration and discussion of the data collected from the hive of bees. In addition, relevant data was obtained, such as the number of dead bees. In a technical hive, around 300 deaths were recorded, while in a nontechnical hive there were 500 deaths. In this sense, it was concluded that the implementation of the wireless sensor network in the hives allowed more precise and real-time monitoring of the key parameters for the well-being of the bees and honey production. This in turn made it easier to detect problems early and take preventive measures, which could help mitigate the decline in the bee population and improve the efficiency of honey production.
