Background: Global population aging poses a significant global challenge, necessitating an increased demand for proficient caregivers specialized in elderly care. In our study, a systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to synthesize the evidence concerning nursing students' willingness to participate in caring for older people. Methods: Eligibility criteria focused on cross-sectional studies involving nursing students' willingness to participate in caring for older people and were reported in English or Chinese. PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and WANFANG databases were searched from inception until July 24, 2022. The methodological quality assessment in the included studies was evaluated using the AHRQ instrument. The pooled effects of the nursing students' willingness to participate in caring for older people were computed using a random-effects model. Funnel plots and Egger's test were employed to evaluate publication bias. Meta-regression and subgroup analysis were performed to explore the sources of heterogeneity. Sensitivity analysis was conducted to verify the robustness of the meta-analysis findings. All statistical tests were conducted with Stata 16.0 software. Results: A total of 68 studies of medium or high quality met the eligibility criteria, involving 30,328 nursing students. The rate of nursing students' willingness to participate in caring for older people was 49.0% (95% CI = 46–53%, I2 = 98.1%, P = 0.000). The results of meta-regression analysis showed that the following four predictor variables were significantly associated with nursing students' willingness to participate in caring for older people: experience of living with and caring for older people, nursing as their first choice and their year-level in education, respectively. Subgroup analyses for these four predictor variables revealed the following pooled estimates of nursing students' willingness: having experience of living with older people (0.54, 95% CI = 0.46–0.62) vs. no such experience (0.38, 95% CI = 0.30–0.46), having experience of caring for older people (0.55, 95% CI = 0.48–0.63) vs. no such experience (0.38, 95% CI = 0.30–0.46), nursing as their first choice (0.54, 95% CI = 0.51–0.58) vs. not their first choice (0.44, 95% CI = 0.35–0.53), being in the first year of nursing education (0.44, 95% CI = 0.34–0.55), second year (0.45, 95% CI = 0.34–0.56), and third and fourth year (0.62, 95% CI = 0.53–0.71). Conclusion: The study found that approximately half of the nursing students confirmed their willingness to participate in caring for older people.The present study can serve as a resource for policymakers to increase the willingness of nursing students to participate in caring for older people. Objective: Most reported research has primarily investigated wild-type transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (ATTRwt-CA). However, the application of bone scintigraphy for hereditary transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (ATTRv-CA) has not been systematically investigated. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to evaluate the diagnostic value of 99mTc-PYP scintigraphy in ATTRv-CA. Methods: Fifty-four patients were enrolled in a highly suspected cardiac amyloidosis cohort. Transthyretin (TTR) gene characteristics were summarized in the ATTRv-CA group. In 99mTc-PYP scintigraphy, the diagnostic efficiency of the visual score (VGS) and heart-to-contralateral chest (H/CL) ratio were evaluated. Furthermore, the interobserver consistency among the diagnosticians was investigated. Results: Twenty-eight patients were diagnosed with ATTRv-CA with eight genotypes. The Ala97Ser genotype accounts for 46% (n = 13) with a mean age of disease onset, definite diagnosis, and interval of 61.6 ± 1.9, 66.5 ± 1.3, and 4.0 (3.0, 6.2) years, respectively. Their VGS is Grade 3, and their H/CL ratio is higher than that of the non-Ala97Ser group, but no statistical significance exists (mean H/CL: 1.95 ± 0.06 vs. 1.87 ± 0.02, p = 0.844). Additionally, ATTRv-CA patients showed VGS ≥ 2, and mean H/CL ratio of 2.09 ± 0.06. The sensitivity and specificity of VGS were 100% and 65%, respectively. And the interobserver consistency analysis of VGS showed the intraclass correlation coefficient is 0.522. The best cutoff value of H/CL ratio was 1.51 (AUC = 0.996), and the diagnostic consistency of H/CL (bias: 0.018) was high. Conclusions: Ala97Ser is the most common genotype in ATTRv-CA in our cohort, with characteristics of later onset and rapid progression, but delayed diagnosis and extensive 99mTc-PYP uptake. Overall, ATTRv-CA patients showed moderate-to-extensive myocardial 99mTc-PYP uptake. Additionally, VGS carries subjectivity, low specialty and interobserver consistency. But H/CL exhibit high diagnostic efficacy and interobserver consistency. The H/CL ratio is more useful than VGS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Doppler spectra of the scattering fields from sinusoidal water waves illuminated by a plane wave or Gaussian beam are numerically simulated with the method of moment (MoM). When the sinusoidal water surface is illuminated by a plane EM wave, the numerical results show that the Doppler spectrum of the scattering field is distorted seriously due to the frequency leakage. For this case, not only the resonance spectral peaks corresponding to the phase velocity of the water wave but also other equally spaced harmonic peaks appear on the spectrum curve. However, when the sinusoidal water surface is illuminated by a Gaussian beam with appropriate beam width, the harmonic peaks can be effectively suppressed. To better explain this phenomenon, the theoretical model for the spectrum of the scattering field from a sinusoidal water wave is derived based on the first-order small slope approximation theory (SSA-I). ObjectiveMethodsResultsConclusionsThis study aims to examine the effect of the Mediterranean diet (MeDi) on cognitive decline among the Chinese elderly with a 3-year follow-up.This study is divided into two waves: wave-1 January 2019 to June 2019 (n = 2313); wave-2 January 2022 to March 2022 (n = 1648). MeDi scores were calculated from the Mediterranean Diet Adherence Screener (MEDAS), with the scoring of low compliance (0–6 points) and high compliance (7–14 points). The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) was used to assess cognitive function. An MMSE score dropping ≥ 2 points from baseline was defined as cognitive decline. The relationships between MeDi score and cognitive decline were analyzed by linear regression models or Binary logistic regression.During the 3-year follow-up, 23.8% of patients exhibited cognitive decline. The study revealed a significant difference in MMSE score changes between low and high MeDi adherence groups (p < 0.001). MeDi score was negatively correlated with cognitive deterioration (β = −0.020, p = 0.026). MeDi score was only negatively associated with cognitive decline in the female subgroup aged ≥65 years (β = −0.034, p = 0.033). The food beans (OR = 0.65, 95%CI:0.51, 0.84), fish (OR = 0.72, 95%CI:0.54, 0.97), and cooked vegetables (OR = 0.68, 95%CI:0.53, 0.84) were protective factors for cognitive decline.This study suggests that greater adherence to the MeDi is linked to a reduced risk of cognitive decline in elderly people. However, this is found only in women who are 65 years old or older. It also found long-term adherence to beans, fish, and vegetables are more effective in improving cognitive function. Activated macrophages are key effector cells and specific markers in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Cysteine cathepsin B (CTS-B) is highly expressed in macrophages and positively associated with RA activity and severity. This study aims to evaluate an activity-based multi-modality diagnostic agent, 68 Ga-BMX2, which targets CTS-B to visualize the arthritis activity and evaluate the treatment efficacy. A CTS-B activity-based probe, BMX2, was labeled efficiently with 68 Ga to produce 68 Ga-BMX2 for fluorescent and positron emission tomography (PET) multi-modality imaging. The affinity and specificity of BMX2 binding with the CTS-B enzyme in macrophages were determined by radioactive experiment using RAW 264.7 cell lines, with CA074 and BMX5 as the inhibitors to test the specificity of the binding. Then, PET and fluorescence imaging were acquired on collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) mice. Additionally, the treatment monitoring capability of 68 Ga-BMX2 PET/CT imaging was tested with methotrexate (MTX). RAW 264.7 macrophage cells showed significant uptake of 68 Ga-BMX2. The binding of BMX2 with CTS-B in RAW 264.7 macrophage cells is time-dependent and could be blocked by CA074 and BMX5. In vivo optical and PET imaging showed high signals in the right hind arthritis in CIA mice from 68 Ga-BMX2 and BMX2 accumulated for at least 120 h. Additionally, 68 Ga-BMX2 signals were significantly reduced in the MTX-treated CIA mice compared to the control group. The 68 Ga-BMX2, a radioactive and fluorescent dual-modality diagnostic agent targeting CTS-B, demonstrated a practical approach for CIA PET and fluorescence imaging. Objective: To investigate the diagnostic efficiency and prognostic value of 68 Ga-Pentixafor PET/CT in comparison with adrenal vein sampling (AVS) for functional lateralization in primary aldosteronism (PA). Histology and long-term clinical follow-up normally serve as the gold standard for such diagnosis., Methods: We prospectively recruited 26 patients diagnosed with PA. All patients underwent 68 Ga-Pentixafor PET/CT and AVS. Postsurgical biochemical and clinical outcomes of patients with unilateral primary aldosteronism (UPA), as diagnosed by PET/CT or AVS, were assessed by applying standardized Primary Aldosteronism Surgical Outcome (PASO) criteria. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was performed to detect the expression of aldosterone synthase (CYP11B2) and CXCR4., Results: On total, 19 patients were diagnosed with UPA; of these, 13 patients were lateralized by both PET/CT and AVS, four patients were lateralized by PET-only, and two by AVS-only. Seven subjects with no lateralization on AVS and PET received medical therapy. All patients achieved complete biochemical success except one with nodular hyperplasia lateralized by AVS alone. The consistency between PET/CT and AVS outcomes was 77% (20/26). Moreover, CYP11B2-positive nodules were all CXCR4-positive and showed positive findings on PET.
