Drought is a major stress that restricts the growth and development of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), and recovery after drought is the key to coping with adversity. So, we used a meta-analysis to quantitatively evaluate the responses of winter wheat to drought stress and rewatering and investigated the differences caused by several moderators (e.g., stress intensity, treatment durations, growth stages, planting methods, and experimental areas). The results show that drought can cause many negative effects on winter wheat. However, in most cases, rewatering can offset these adverse effects. Winter wheat under short-term or mild stress was less affected, and rewatering can restore it to the control level. Net photosynthetic rate (Pn), transpiration rate (Tr), and stomatal conductance (gs) are sensitive to environmental water change. Drought reduced the quantum yield of electron transport (ΦPSII), with insignificant effects on the efficiency of PSII (Fv/Fm). Additionally, the responses to drought and rewatering also varied with different growth stages. The regreening stage and the anthesis-filling stage are both critical water management periods. Rewatering after the jointing stage had no significant effect on leaf area (LA) and plant height (PH). The drought tolerance and recovery ability of field-grown wheat were better than those of pot-grown wheat. Winter wheat planted on the Loess Plateau was less affected than that on the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain and the Middle–Lower Yangtze Plain. Overall, different moderators may lead to different degrees of responsiveness of wheat to drought stress and postdrought rewatering. The chiral fungicide prothioconazole (PTZ) is extensively employed in agricultural practices, prompting serious concern due to its environmental impact. PTZ is prone to undergo metabolism, leading to the formation of chiral prothioconazole-desthio (dPTZ) in the environment. However, limited knowledge exists regarding its enantioselective behavior and toxicity towards invertebrate organisms in soil ecosystems. In this study, R-(-)- and S-(+)- PTZ enantiomers were individually synthesized, and their stereoselective toxicity effects on earthworms (E. foetida) were studied in artificial soil under environmentally relevant concentration exposures. The results showed a significant accumulation of dPTZ in earthworms, surpassing the levels of PTZ. Moreover, the concentration of S-(-)- dPTZ in earthworms was notably higher than that of R-(+)- dPTZ after exposure, reaching peak levels on day 14. Concurrently, oxidative stress induced by S-(+)- PTZ enantiomers in earthworms exhibited a substantial increase compared to R-(-)- enantiomers on day 14, indicating a higher ecological risk associated with the former in non-target organisms. Transcriptome analysis unveiled distinct impacts on earthworm physiology. S-(+)-PTZ exposure significantly affected energy metabolism, immune responses and digestive systems. In contrast, R-(-)-PTZ exposure influenced the synthesis of carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids. Objective: This meta-analysis aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of novel antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) in treating epilepsy in patients with brain tumors (BTRE)., Methods: A search was conducted on PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library from inception to February 2023, with English language restriction., Results: In this meta-analysis, 18 clinical trials involving 755 BTRE patients were included to assess the efficacy and safety of novel AEDs in BTRE treatment. At the last follow-up, a ≥50% reduction in seizure frequency was experienced by 72% of patients (random-effects model, 95% CI = 0.64-0.78) using novel AEDs. At the last follow-up, seizure freedom was experienced by 34% of patients (random-effects model, 95% CI = 0.28-0.41) using novel AEDs. The pooled incidence of AEs was found to be 19% (95% CI: 13%-26%), with a withdrawal rate due to adverse effects of only 3%. Comparable efficacy and incidence of adverse effects were observed between lacosamide and perampanel., Conclusion: This meta-analysis suggests that novel antiepileptic drugs are deemed effective for seizure control in brain tumor patients, particularly when used as adjunctive therapy. Although lacosamide and perampanel received more focus in studies, no significant difference was observed in the efficacy and adverse reactions of these two drugs in seizure control.
