Arrays of single atoms trapped in optical tweezers are increasingly recognized as a promising platform for scalable quantum computing. In both the fault-tolerant and NISQ eras, the ability to individually control qubits is essential for the efficient execution of quantum circuits. Time-division multiplexed control schemes based on atom shuttling or beam scanning have been employed to build programmable neutral atom quantum processors, but achieving high-rate, highly parallel gate operations remains a challenge. Here, we propose a fiber array architecture for atom quantum computing capable of fully independent control of individual atoms. The trapping and addressing lasers for each individual atom are emitted from the same optical waveguide, enabling robust control through common-mode suppression of beam pointing noise. Using a fiber array, we experimentally demonstrate the trapping and independent control of ten single atoms in two-dimensional optical tweezers, achieving individually addressed single-qubit gate with an average fidelity of 0.9966(3). Moreover, we perform simultaneous arbitrary single-qubit gate on four randomly selected qubits, resulting in an average fidelity of 0.9961(4). The MUltiplexed Survey Telescope (MUST) is a 6.5-meter telescope under development. Dedicated to highly-multiplexed, wide-field spectroscopic surveys, MUST observes over 20,000 targets simultaneously using 6.2-mm pitch positioning robots within a ~5 deg2 field of view. MUST aims to carry out the first Stage-V spectroscopic survey in the 2030s to map the 3D Universe with over 100 million galaxies and quasars, spanning from the nearby Universe to redshift z~5.5, corresponding to around 1 billion years after the Big Bang. To cover this extensive redshift range, we present an initial conceptual target selection algorithm for different types of galaxies, from local bright galaxies, luminous red galaxies, and emission line galaxies to high-redshift (2 < z < 5.5) Lyman-break galaxies. Using Fisher forecasts, we demonstrate that MUST can address fundamental questions in cosmology, including the nature of dark energy, test of gravity theories, and investigations into primordial physics. Multisource data has spurred the development of advanced clustering algorithms, such as multi-view clustering, which critically relies on constructing similarity matrices. Traditional algorithms typically generate these matrices from sample attributes alone. However, real-world networks often include pairwise directed topological structures critical for clustering. This paper introduces a novel multi-view clustering algorithm, AAS. It utilizes a two-step proximity approach via anchors in each view, integrating attribute and directed structural information. This approach enhances the clarity of category characteristics in the similarity matrices. The anchor structural similarity matrix leverages strongly connected components of directed graphs. The entire process-from similarity matrices construction to clustering - is consolidated into a unified optimization framework. While non-Hermitian (NH) topological phases and phenomena have been observed across various quantum systems, directly measuring NH topological invariants remains a significant challenge. In this study, we present a generic and unified framework for the direct measurement of various NH topological invariants in odd-dimensional systems through quench dynamics. We demonstrate that in one-dimensional (1D) NH systems with sublattice symmetry, the line-gap winding number and point-gap braiding degree can be extracted from the winding patterns of a dynamically constructed field based on post-quench spin textures. Specifically, line-gap topology is characterized by integer-valued winding, whereas point-gap complex-band braiding is revealed by half-integer or integer winding with abrupt jumps. We also extend our approach to higher-dimensional winding numbers and non-Bloch topological invariants under open-boundary conditions. Additionally, we propose a practical cold-atom setup to realize and detect 1D NH topological phases, showing that our dynamical measurement scheme is feasible in current experimental settings. We investigate the impact of effective interactions of dimension-8 (dim-8) operators in the standard model effective field theory (SMEFT) on neutral meson mixing, focusing on the $K^0-\bar K^0$, $B_{d,s}-\bar B_{d,s}$, and $D^0-\bar D^0$ systems. Within the framework of the low energy effective field theory (LEFT), each system is governed by eight dim-6 operators, with four originating at tree level from dim-6 SMEFT operators and the other four from dim-8 SMEFT operators. Notably, in certain UV complete models those dim-8 operators instead of the dim-6 ones are generated at the leading order. Our analysis focuses on those dim-8 operators and includes their one-loop QCD renormalization group running effects. By leveraging the LEFT master formula we impose stringent constraints on the effective scales associated with these dim-8 operators. We find that neutral meson mixing can probe an effective scale up to 50 TeV for some operators, surpassing the constraints imposed on other dim-8 operators by other observables. Lastly, we present a UV complete model capable of generating dim-8 operators at the leading order, thus offering a unique perspective on the interplay between different operator dimensions in probing new physics phenomena., Comment: 20 pages, 4 figures

The SuperKEKB/Belle II experiment aims to collect high-statistics data of B meson pairs to explore new physics beyond the Standard Model (SM). SuperKEKB, an upgraded version of the KEKB accelerator, has achieved a world-record luminosity of $4.71 \times 10^{34} \, \mathrm{cm^{-2}s^{-1}}$ in 2022 but continues to strive for higher luminosities. One of the major obstacles is Sudden Beam Loss (SBL) events, which cause substantial beam losses and damage to the Belle~II detector. To find a hint for addressing SBL challenges, advanced beam diagnostic systems and enhanced beam abort systems have been developed. The diagnostic system aims to accurately pinpoint the start of beam losses, while the upgraded abort system quickly disposes of anomalous beams to minimize damage. This paper details the development and implementation of these systems, including high-speed loss monitors, time synchronization with the White Rabbit system, and data acquisition systems. Efforts to understand the mechanisms of SBL events, using acoustic sensors to detect discharges, are also discussed. Key network motifs searching in complex networks is one of the crucial aspects of network analysis. There has been a series of insightful findings and valuable applications for various scenarios through the analysis of network structures. However, in dynamic systems, slight changes in the choice of dynamic equations and parameters can alter the significance of motifs. The known methods are insufficient to address this issue effectively. In this paper, we introduce a concept of perturbation energy based on the system's Jacobian matrix, and define motif centrality for dynamic systems by seamlessly integrating network topology with dynamic equations. Through simulations, we observe that the key motifs obtained by the proposed energy method present better effective and accurate than them by integrating network topology methods, without significantly increasing algorithm complexity. The finding of key motifs can be used to apply for system control, such as formulating containment policies for the spread of epidemics and protecting fragile ecosystems. We report an experimental realization of a new type of topology-controlled photonic cavities in valley photonic crystals by adopting judiciously oriented mirrors to localize the valley-polarized edge states along their propagation path. By using microwave frequency- and time-domain measurements, we directly observe the strong confinement of electromagnetic energy at the mirror surface due to the extended time delay required for the valley index flipping. Moreover, we experimentally demonstrate that both the degree of energy localization and quality factors of the topology-controlled photonic cavities are determined by the valley-flipping time which is controlled by the topology of the mirror. These results extend and complement the current design paradigm of topological photonic cavities.

Foreground removal presents a significant obstacle in both current and forthcoming intensity mapping surveys. While numerous techniques have been developed that show promise in simulated datasets, their efficacy often diminishes when applied to real-world data. A primary issue is the frequency-dependent variations in the instrumental response. In this paper, we propose a novel approach utilizing the internal cross-correlation among different frequencies to calibrate the beam's frequency fluctuations. Using a simulated dataset that incorporates frequency-dependent random fluctuations into the beam model, we illustrate that our method can achieve considerable improvements over traditional techniques. Disorder, which is ubiquitous in nature, has been extensively explored in photonics for understanding the fundamental principles of light diffusion and localization, as well as for applications in functional resonators and random lasers. Recently, the investigation of disorder in topological photonics has led to the realization of topological Anderson insulators characterized by an unexpected disorder-induced phase transition. However, the observed photonic topological Anderson insulators so far are limited to the time-reversal symmetry breaking systems. Here, we propose and realize a photonic quantum spin Hall topological Anderson insulator without breaking time-reversal symmetry. The disorder-induced topological phase transition is comprehensively confirmed through the theoretical effective Dirac Hamiltonian, numerical analysis of bulk transmission, and experimental examination of bulk and edge transmissions. We present the convincing evidence for the unidirectional propagation and robust transport of helical edge modes, which are the key features of nontrivial time-reversal invariant topological Anderson insulators. Furthermore, we demonstrate disorder-induced beam steering, highlighting the potential of disorder as a new degree of freedom to manipulate light propagation in magnetic-free systems. Our work not only paves the way for observing unique topological photonic phases but also suggests potential device applications through the utilization of disorder.

Entanglement is one of the most prominent features of quantum mechanics and serves as an essential resource in quantum information science. Therefore, the certification of entanglement is crucial for quantum information processing tasks. While entanglement witnesses are the most frequently used method for entanglement certification in experiments, recent research shows that even tiny errors in measurements may significantly undermine the effectiveness of a witness. In this work, we propose a randomized-measurement-based method to solve this problem. Through this method, the errors in measurement results can be substantially suppressed, thereby restoring the certification capability of entanglement witnesses. Our method is not only applicable to general types of witnesses, including multi-party entanglement and high-dimensional entanglement witnesses, but also experimentally friendly in the sense that only slight modifications are needed to the original measurement settings., Comment: 14 pages, 5 figures

In this paper, we utilize recent observational data from gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and Pantheon+ supernovae Ia (SNe Ia) sample to explore the interacting dark energy (IDE) model in a phenomenological scenario. Results from GRBs alone, SNe Ia and GRBs+SNe Ia indicate that the energy is transferred from dark energy to dark matter and the coincidence problem is alleviated. The value of $H_0$ from GRBs+SNe Ia in the IDE scenario shows agreement with the SH0ES measurement. Considering the age estimate of the quasar APM 08279+5255 at $z = 3.91$, we find that the phenomenological IDE scenario can predict a cosmic age greater than that of the $\Lambda$CDM model, thus the cosmic age problem can be alleviated., Comment: 12 pages,3 figures. We report on the first measurement of the elemental fragmentation cross sections (EFCSs) of $^{29-33}\mathrm{Si}$ on a carbon target at $\sim$230~MeV/nucleon. The experimental data covering charge changes of $\Delta Z$ = 1-4 are reproduced well by the isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IQMD) coupled with the evaporation GEMINI (IQMD+GEMINI) model. We further explore the mechanisms underlying the single-proton removal reaction in this model framework. We conclude that the cross sections from direct proton knockout exhibit a overall weak dependence on the mass number of $\mathrm{Si}$ projectiles. The proton evaporation induced after the projectile excitation significantly affects the cross sections for neutron-deficient $\mathrm{Si}$ isotopes, while neutron evaporation plays a crucial role in the reactions of neutron-rich $\mathrm{Si}$ isotopes. Non-Hermitian dynamics in quantum systems have unveiled novel phenomena, yet the implementation of valid non-Hermitian quantum measurement remains a challenge, because a universal quantum projective mechanism on the complete but skewed non-Hermitian eigenstates is not explicit in experiment. This limitation hinders the direct acquisition of non-Hermitian observable statistics (e.g., non-Hermitian population dynamics), also constrains investigations of non-Hermitian quantum measurement properties such as uncertainty relation. Here, we address these challenges by presenting a non-Hermitian projective protocol and investigating the non-Hermitian uncertainty relation. We derive the uncertainty relation for pseudo-Hermitian (PH) observables that is generalized beyond the Hermitian ones. We then investigate the projective properties of general quantum states onto complete non-Hermitian eigenvectors, and present a quantum simulating method to apply the valid non-Hermitian projective measurement on a direct-sum dilated space. Subsequently, we experimentally construct a quantum simulator in the quantum optical circuit and realize the 3-dimensional non-Hermitian quantum measurement on the single-photon qutrit. Employing this platform, we explore the uncertainty relation experimentally with different PH metrics. Decays $B\to DP\ell^+\nu_\ell~(\ell=e,\mu,\tau)$ with the non-resonance, the charmed vector resonances, the charmed scalar resonances and the charmed tensor resonances are calculated by using the SU(3) flavor symmetry. Firstly, the decay amplitudes of different modes are related by the SU(3) flavor symmetry. Then, relevant experiential data are used to constrain nonperturbative coefficients in the non-resonant and various resonant $B\to DP\ell^+\nu_\ell$ decays. Finally, using the constrained nonperturbative coefficients, the branching ratios of not-yet-measured $B\to D^*P\ell^+\nu_\ell$ decays with the non-resonant and various charmed resonant contributions are predicted. Many branching ratios are predicted for the first time. We find that $B\to D\eta'\ell^+\nu_\ell, B_s\to D_s\eta'\ell^+\nu_\ell$ decays only receive the non-resonant contributions, $B\to D_sK\ell^+\nu_\ell$, $B_s\to DK\ell^+\nu_\ell$, $B\to D\eta\ell^+\nu_\ell$ and $B_s\to D_s\eta\ell^+\nu_\ell$ decays receive both non-resonant and charmed tensor resonant contributions, $B^+\to D^-\pi^+\ell^+\nu_\ell$ decays receive the non-resonant, the charmed scalar resonant and the charmed tensor resonant contributions, and other $B\to D\pi\ell^+\nu_\ell$ decays receive all four kinds of contributions. In this paper, we systematically investigate the general dark matter-electron interactions within the framework of effective field theories (EFT). We consider both the non-relativistic (NR) EFT and the relativistic EFT descriptions of the interactions with the spin of dark matter (DM) up to one, i.e., the scalar ($\phi$), fermion ($\chi$), and vector $(X)$ DM scenarios. We first collect the leading-order NR EFT operators describing the DM-electron interactions, and construct especially the NR operators for the vector DM case. Next, we consider all possible leading-order relativistic EFT operators including those with a photon field and perform the NR reduction to match them onto the NR EFT. Then we rederive the DM-bound-electron scattering rate within the NR EFT framework and find that the matrix element squared, which is the key input that encodes the DM and atomic information, can be compactly decomposed into three terms. Each term is a product of a DM response function $(a_{0,1,2})$, which is essentially a factor of Wilson coefficients squared, and its corresponding generalized atomic response function ($\widetilde W_{0,1,2}$). Lastly, we employ the electron recoil data from the DM direct detection experiments (including XENON10, XENON1T, and PandaX-4T) to constrain all the non-relativistic and relativistic operators in all three DM scenarios. We set strong bounds on the DM-electron interactions in the sub-GeV region. Particularly, we find that the latest PandaX-4T S2-only data provide stringent constraints on dark matter with a mass greater than approximately 20 MeV, surpassing those from the previous XENON10 and XENON1T experiments., Comment: 37 pages, 8 figures, minor corrections for several typos, and added one reference. In this paper, we study a class of strongly degenerate ultraparabolic equations with analytic coefficients. We demonstrate that the Cauchy problem exhibits an analytic smoothing effect. This means that, with an initial datum belonging to the Sobolev space $H^s$ (of real index s), the associated Cauchy problem admits a unique solution that is analytic in all spatial variables for any strictly positive time. This smoothing effect property is similar to that of the Cauchy problem for uniformly parabolic equations with analytic coefficients.

We propose the nucleon consumption induced by dark matter as a new scenario to overcome the energy threshold of direct detection. It can be realized with proton ($\chi + p \rightarrow \chi + \ell^+$) or neutron ($\chi + n \rightarrow \chi + \nu$) target. Both effective operators and concrete models are provided to illustrate the idea. Since the initial DM and nucleon velocity is only $10^{-3}$ and $1/4$ of the speed of light, respectively, the cross section and hence event rate are determined by the involved particle masses and not affected by the nucleon Fermi motion. Of the two realizations, the proton consumption has richer phenomena with both charged lepton and the daughter nuclei de-excitation to allow double or even triple coincidence to significantly suppress the background. Unoriented surface reconstructions based on the Gauss formula have attracted much attention due to their elegant mathematical formulation and excellent performance. However, the isotropic characteristics of the formulation limit their capacity to leverage the anisotropic information within the point cloud. In this work, we propose a novel anisotropic formulation by introducing a convection term in the original Laplace operator. By choosing different velocity vectors, the anisotropic feature can be exploited to construct more effective linear equations. Moreover, an adaptive selection strategy is introduced for the velocity vector to further enhance the orientation and reconstruction performance of thin structures. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance and manages various challenging situations, especially for models with thin structures or small holes. In this Letter we revisit general dark matter (DM)-bound-electron interactions studied previously in the influential work [R. Catena {\it et al.,} Atomic responses to general dark matter-electron interactions, Phys. Rev. Res. 2, 033195 (2020)] For the most general DM-electron nonrelativistic or relativistic interactions for DM with spin up to 1, we find the average ionization matrix element squared can be organized into three terms, each of which is a product of a DM response function ($a_{0,1,2}$) and a linear combination ($\widetilde W_{0,1,2}$) of the four atomic response functions ($W_{1,2,3,4}$) given in that work, $ \widetilde W_0 = W_1, \, \widetilde W_1 = |\pmb{v}_0^\perp|^2 W_1 - 2 {m_e\, \pmb{q}\cdot \pmb{v}_0^\perp \over \pmb{q}^2} W_2 + W_3,\, \widetilde W_2 = { (\pmb{q}\cdot \pmb{v}_0^\perp)^2 \over \pmb{q}^2} W_1 - 2 {m_e\, \pmb{q}\cdot \pmb{v}_0^\perp \over \pmb{q}^2} W_2 + {m_e^2 \over \pmb{q}^2}W_4$. Furthermore, we find a crucial minus sign was missed for the calculation of $W_2$ in that work, which has significant phenomenological consequences when explaining experimental bounds on specific DM scenarios. Due to the corrected sign, there can be significant cancellations between the $W_2$ and $W_{3,4}$ terms, so that $\widetilde W_{1,2}$ are dominated by the usual response function $W_1$ in some cases. Many DM scenarios involving DM or electron axial-vector current can yield $W_2$ and thus are potentially affected by the sign. As an example, we show that the recent XENON1T constraint on the fermionic DM anapole moment is weakened by a factor of 2 or so. We propose a lightweight deep convolutional neural network (lCNN) to estimate cosmological parameters from simulated three-dimensional dark matter (DM) halo distributions and associated statistics. The training dataset comprises 2000 realizations of a cubic box with a side length of 1000 $h^{-1}{\rm Mpc}$, and interpolated over a cubic grid of $300^3$ voxels, with each simulation produced using $512^3$ DM particles and $512^3$ neutrinos. Under the flat $\Lambda$CDM model, simulations vary standard six cosmological parameters including $\Omega_m$, $\Omega_b$, $h$, $n_s$, $\sigma_8$, $w$, along with the neutrino mass sum, $M_\nu$. We find that: 1) within the framework of lCNN, extracting large-scale structure information is more efficient from the halo density field compared to relying on the statistical quantities including the power spectrum, the two-point correlation function, and the coefficients from wavelet scattering transform; 2) combining the halo density field with its Fourier transformed counterpart enhances predictions, while augmenting the training dataset with measured statistics further improves performance; 3) achieving high accuracy in inferring $\Omega_m$, $h$, and $\sigma_8$ by the neural network model, while being inefficient in predicting $\Omega_b$, { $n_s$}, $M_\nu$ and $w$; 4) { compared to the simple fully connected network trained with three statistical quantities, our CNN yields statistically reduced errors, showing improvements of approximately 23\% for $\Omega_m$, 11\% for $h$, 8\% for $n_s$, and 21\% for $\sigma_8$. Additionally, in comparison with the likelihood-based analysis on $P(k)$ data, our CNN provides much tighter constraints on parameters, especially on $\Omega_m$ and $\sigma_8$.} Our study emphasizes this lCNN-based novel approach in extracting large-scale structure information and estimating cosmological parameters., Comment: v2: matches the version published in PRD,17 pages,12 figures

This paper introduces ASTRA (Algorithm for Stochastic Topological RAnking), a novel method designed for the classification of galaxies into principal cosmic web structures -- voids, sheets, filaments, and knots -- especially tailored for large spectroscopic surveys. ASTRA utilizes observed data and a corresponding random catalog, generating probabilities for data and random points to belong to each cosmic web type. Extensive evaluation includes testing on datasets from N-body simulations (dark matter only and hydrodynamical) and observations, incorporating visual inspections and quantitative analyses of mass and volume filling fractions. ASTRA demonstrates proficiency in constructing void size function catalogs and is benchmarked against established cosmic web classification methods. Spatial correlations among cosmic web types are explored using 2-point correlation functions. ASTRA's approach to the cosmic web holds promise for enhancing the retrieval of non-standard clustering statistics, thereby advancing the estimation of cosmological parameters. This paper focuses on extensions of the classic Erd\H{o}s-Gallai Theorem for the set of weighted function of each edge in a graph. The weighted function of an edge $e$ of an $n$-vertex uniform hypergraph $\mathcal{H}$ is defined to a special function with respect to the number of edges of the longest Berge path containing $e$. We prove that the summation of the weighted function of all edges is at most $n$ for an $n$-vertex uniform hypergraph $\mathcal{H}$ and characterize all extremal hypergraphs that attain the value, which strengthens and extends the hypergraph version of the classic Erd\H{o}s-Gallai Theorem., Comment: 19 pages

Optical vortex beam with orbital angular momentum (OAM) has great potential to increase the capacity of optical communication and information processing in classical and quantum regimes. Nevertheless, important challenges that influence the optical data transmission in free space is the existence of diffusers along the optical path, which causes inevitable information loss during the wave propagation. Numerous algorithms have been proposed successively for identifying the modes of vortex beams propagating through scattering media. However, these methods all require completion on a computer, which is energyintensive and energy consuming. Here, we propose an all-optical regime for identifying the modes of vortex light fields propagating through scattering media. After training by deep learning, our model can recognize the mode of vortex beam through unknown phase diffusers, demonstrating generalization to new random diffusers that have never been encountered before. Once physically deployed, the entire setup will rapidly identify the modes of vortex light propagating through scattering media at the speed of light, and the entire inference process will consume zero energy except for illumination source. Our research represents a significant step towards highly accurate recognition of vortex light modes propagating through complex scattering media, providing significant guidance for the application of optical communication in complex environments.

3-dB couplers, which are commonly used in photonic integrated circuits for on-chip information processing, precision measurement, and quantum computing, face challenges in achieving robust performance due to their limited 3-dB bandwidths and sensitivity to fabrication errors. To address this, we introduce topological physics to nanophotonics, developing a framework for topological 3-dB couplers. These couplers exhibit broad working wavelength range and robustness against fabrication dimensional errors. By leveraging valley-Hall topology and mirror symmetry, the photonic-crystal-slab couplers achieve ideal 3-dB splitting characterized by a wavelength-insensitive scattering matrix. Tolerance analysis confirms the superiority on broad bandwidth of 48 nm and robust splitting against dimensional errors of 20 nm. We further propose a topological interferometer for on-chip distance measurement, which also exhibits robustness against dimensional errors. The $\beta$-skeleton approach can be conveniently utilized to construct the cosmic web based on the spatial geometry distribution of galaxies, particularly in sparse samples. This method plays a key role in establishing the three-dimensional structure of the Universe and serves as a tool for quantitatively characterizing the nature of the cosmic web. This study is the first application of $\beta$-skeleton information as weights in mark weighted correlation functions (MCFs), presenting a novel statistical measure. We have applied the $\beta$-skeleton approach to the CMASS NGC galaxy samples from SDSS BOSS DR12 in the redshift interval $0.45 \leq z \leq 0.55$. Additionally, we applied this approach to three COLA cosmological simulations with different settings ($\Omega_m=0.25, \Omega_m=0.31, \Omega_m=0.4$) for comparison. We measured three MCFs, each weighted by i) the number of neighboring galaxies around each galaxy, ii) the average distance of each galaxy from its surrounding neighbors, and iii) the reciprocal of the average distance of each galaxy from its surrounding neighbors. By comparing measurements and calculating corresponding $\chi^2$ statistics, we observe high sensitivity to the cosmological parameter $\Omega_m$ through a joint analysis of the two-point correlation and three MCFs., Comment: 16 pages,12 figues

Recently Belle II reported the first measurement of $B^+\to K^++{\rm invisible (inv)}$, which is $2.7\sigma$ above the standard model (SM) prediction. If confirmed, this calls for new physics beyond SM. In the SM, the invisible particles are neutrino-anti-neutrino pairs. There are more possibilities when going beyond the SM. In this work, we focus on decays to dark matter (DM) and show that the $B\to K +\mathrm{inv}$ excess from Belle II and DM relic density can be simultaneously explained in a simple extension of the SM. The model introduces a real scalar singlet $\phi$ acting as a DM candidate, and two heavy vector-like quarks $Q,D$ with the same quantum numbers as the SM left-handed quark doublet and right-handed down-type quark singlet, respectively. All these new particles are odd under a $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry while the SM particles are even. The model can successfully explain the Belle II anomaly and DM relic density for TeV-scale heavy quarks with hierarchical Yukawa couplings involving $b$ and $s$ quarks. At the same time, it can easily satisfy other flavour physics constraints.
