Background Surge hospitals play an important role in combating a major infectious disease outbreak. Compared with other situations, the management and operation of surge hospitals amid the outbreak of major infectious diseases are specific, and serious consequences will be caused if there is a loophole in the hospital management model. However, there is no research that reviews and summarizes relevant studies. Objective To perform a scoping review of the research on surge hospital management during a major infectious disease outbreak, so as to understand the elements of hospital management and research status, providing guidance for future research in this field. Methods This review used a methodological framework developed based on Arksey & O'Malley's framework and principles as well as recommendations from related scholars and colleagues' guiding principles. Studies on the management of surge hospitals amid the outbreak of major infectious diseases were searched in electronic databases of PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and SinoMed from inception to June 17, 2022. Then the included studies were summarized and analyzed. Results Twenty-five studies were included. All studies were about the management of mobile cabin hospitals and designated hospitals for treating COVID-19 in China during the COVID-19 pandemic. The elements of surge hospital management included emergency preparedness, personnel management, operation management and service management. Conclusion The number of studies on surge hospital management has increased, with an extensive scope of research, but the quality of them is unsatisfactory, and there is a lack of unified evaluation indicators and feedback tools. In the future, efforts should be made to improve the quality of relevant studies, formulate a standardized surge hospital management process, increase the construction and implementation of evaluation indicators, so as to provide more guidance for clinical nursing practice.

The validation of remotely sensed evapotranspiration (ET) products is important for the development of ET estimation models and the accuracy of the scientific application of the products. In this study, different ET products such as HiTLL, MOD16A2, ETMonitor, and SoGAE were compared using multi-source remote sensing data and ground-based data to evaluate their applicability in the Heihe River Basin (HRB) during 2010–2019. The results of the comparison with the site observations show that ETMonitor provides a more stable and reliable estimation of ET than the other three products. The ET exhibited significant variations over the decade, characterized by a general increase in rates across the HRB. These changes were markedly influenced by variations in land use and topographical features. Specifically, the analysis showed that farmland and forested areas had higher ET rates due to greater vegetation cover and moisture availability, while grasslands and water bodies demonstrated lower ET rates, reflecting their respective land cover characteristics. This study further explored the influence of various factors on ET, including land use changes, NDVI, temperature, and precipitation. It was found that changes in land use, such as increases in agricultural areas or reforestation efforts, directly influenced ET rates. Moreover, meteorological conditions such as temperature and precipitation patterns also played crucial roles, with warmer temperatures and higher precipitation correlating with increased ET. This study highlights the significant impact of land use and climatic factors on spatiotemporal variations in ET within the HRB, underscoring its importance for optimizing water resource management and land use planning in arid regions. Accurate estimation of surface evapotranspiration (ET) in the Heihe River Basin using remote sensing data is crucial for understanding water dynamics in arid regions. In this paper, by coupling physical constraints and machine learning for hybrid modeling, we develop a hybrid model based on surface conductance optimization. A hybrid modeling algorithm, two physical process-based ET algorithms (Penman–Monteith-based and Priestley–Taylor-based ET algorithms), and three pure machine learning algorithms (Random Forest, Extreme Gradient Boosting, and K Nearest Neighbors) are comparatively analyzed for estimating the ET. The results showed that, in general, the machine learning model optimized by parameters was able to better predict the surface conductance of the hybrid model. Driver analyses showed that radiation, normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), and air temperature had high correlations with ET. The hybrid model had a better prediction performance for ET than the other five models, and it improved the R2 of the two physical process-based algorithms to 0.9, reduced the root mean square error (RMSE) to 0.5 mm/day, reduced the BIAS to 0.2 mm/day, and improved the Kling–Gupta efficiency (KGE) to 0.9. The hybrid model outperformed the others across different time scales, displaying lower BIAS, RMSE, and higher KGE. Spatially, its ET patterns aligned with regional vegetation changes, with superior accuracy in annual ET estimation compared to the other models. Comparison with other ET products shows that the estimation results based on the hybrid model have better performance. This approach not only improves the accuracy of ET estimation but also improves the understanding of the physical mechanism of ET estimation by pure machine learning models. The climate of the Tibetan Plateau (TP) has experienced substantial changes in recent decades as a result of the location's susceptibility to global climate change. The changes observed across the TP are closely associated with regional land–atmosphere interactions. Current models and satellites struggle to accurately depict the interactions; therefore, critical field observations on land–atmosphere interactions outlined here provide necessary independent validation data and fine-scale process insights for constraining reanalysis products, remote sensing retrievals, and land surface model parameterizations. Scientific data sharing is crucial for the TP since in situ observations are rarely available under these harsh conditions. However, field observations are currently dispersed among individuals or groups and have not yet been integrated for comprehensive analysis. This has prevented a better understanding of the interactions, the unprecedented changes they generate, and the substantial ecological and environmental consequences they bring about. In this study, we collaborated with different agencies and organizations to present a comprehensive dataset for hourly measurements of surface energy balance components, soil hydrothermal properties, and near-surface micrometeorological conditions spanning up to 17 years (2005–2021). This dataset, derived from 12 field stations covering a variety of typical TP landscapes, provides the most extensive in situ observation data available for studying land–atmosphere interactions on the TP to date in terms of both spatial coverage and duration. Three categories of observations are provided in this dataset: meteorological gradient data (met), soil hydrothermal data (soil), and turbulent flux data (flux). To assure data quality, a set of rigorous data-processing and quality control procedures are implemented for all observation elements (e.g., wind speed and direction at different height) in this dataset. The operational workflow and procedures are individually tailored to the varied types of elements at each station, including automated error screening, manual inspection, diagnostic checking, adjustments, and quality flagging. The hourly raw data series; the quality-assured data; and supplementary information, including data integrity and the percentage of correct data on a monthly scale, are provided via the National Tibetan Plateau Data Center (10.11888/Atmos.tpdc.300977, Ma et al., 2023a). With the greatest number of stations covered, the fullest collection of meteorological elements, and the longest duration of observations and recordings to date, this dataset is the most extensive hourly land–atmosphere interaction observation dataset for the TP. It will serve as the benchmark for evaluating and refining land surface models, reanalysis products, and remote sensing retrievals, as well as for characterizing fine-scale land–atmosphere interaction processes of the TP and underlying influence mechanisms. Aim: To understand the experiences of individuals who undergo LEA due to DFU after disability. Design: A descriptive research design in qualitative research. Methods: Semi‐structured interviews were used in this qualitative descriptive study. Eleven middle‐aged patients (45–59 years) who underwent LEA due to DFU were purposively selected and interviewed. Qualitative data were thematically analysed. Results: Three themes and 10 subthemes were identified. The themes were (1) role function confusion, (2) self‐concept stress and (3) unreasonable objective support. Subthemes included (1) weakened career role, (2) family role reversal, (3) social role restriction, (4) over‐focusing on appearance, (5) immersion in patient experience, (6) living with faith, (7) polarization of independent consciousness, (8) low perceived benefits of peer support, (9) existence of treatment disruption and (10) poor participation in medical decision‐making. Designing an electrocatalyst with high efficiency and product selectivity is always crucial for an electrocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR). Inspired by the great progress of two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials growing on Cu surfaces and their promising CO2RR catalytic efficiencies at their interfaces, the unique performance of Cu-based 2D materials as high-efficiency and low-cost CO2RR electrocatalysts has attracted extensive attention. Herein, based on density functional theory (DFT) calculations, we proposed a composite structure of graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) fragments loaded on a Cu surface to explore the CO2RR catalytic property of the interface between g-C3N4 and the Cu surface. Three composite interfaces of C3N4/Cu(111), C3N4/Cu(110) and C3N4/Cu(100) have been studied by considering the reaction sites of vertex nitrogen atoms, edge nitrogen atoms and the nearby Cu atoms. It was found that the C3N4/Cu interfaces where nitrogen atoms contact the Cu substrate present competitive CO2RR activity. Among them, C3N4/Cu(111)-N3 exhibited a better activity for CH3OH production, with a low overpotential of 0.38 V. For HCOOH and CH4 production, C3N4/Cu(111)-Cu and C3N4/Cu(100)-N1 have overpotentials of 0.26 V and 0.44 V. The electronic analysis indicates the electron transfer from the Cu substrate to the g-C3N4 fragment and mainly accumulates on the nitrogen atoms of the interface. Such charge accumulation can activate the adsorbed C＝O bond of CO2 and lead to lower energetic barriers of CO2RR. DFT calculations indicate that the boundary nitrogen sites reduced the energy barrier of *CHO, which is crucial for CO2RR, compared with that of the pristine Cu surface. Our study explores a new Cu-based electrocatalyst and indicates that the C3N4/Cu interface can enhance the activities and selectivity of CO2RR and open a new strategy to design high-efficiency electrocatalysts for CO2RR. Background: The incidence of multiple primary cancers (MPC), especially involving primary lung cancer (PLC) and primary hematologic malignancies (PHM), is rising. This study aims to analyze clinicopathological features, gene abnormalities, and prognostic outcomes in individuals diagnosed with PLC-PHM MPC. Methods: A retrospective analysis included 89 patients diagnosed with PLC-PHM MPC at the Respiratory or Hematology Departments of Ruijin Hospital from 2003 to 2022 (a total of 842,047 people). Next-generation sequencing (NGS) assessed lung cancer specimens, while Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and NGS were used for hematologic malignancy specimens. Statistical analysis involved survival analysis and Cox regression. Results: PLC-PHM MPC incidence surged from 1.67 per year (2011–2013) to 16.3 per year (2020–2022). The primary demographic for PLC-PHM MPC consists predominantly of elderly (average age 66 years) males (59.6%), with a high prevalence of metachronous MPC (89.9%). The prevailing histological types were lung adenocarcinoma (70.8%) in lung cancer (LC) and mature B-cell lymphomas (50.6%) in hematologic malignancies (HM). Notably, in a molecular testing cohort of 38 LC patients, 84.2% of lung cancer cases exhibited driver mutations, in which EGFR mutations frequence prevalent was 74.2%. In total group of 85 cases achieved a median overall survival (mOS) of 46.2 months, with a 5-year survival rate of 37.9% and advanced LC patients with LC gene mutations achieved a mOS was 52.6 months, with a 5-year OS rate of 30.6%. The median progression-free survival (PFS) following first-line treatment of 11 advanced patients with lung cancer-associated driver gene mutations is 26.6 months. Multivariate Cox regression revealed a favorable OS associated with surgery for LC, favorable PS score, adenocarcinoma pathology of LC, and the presence of genetic abnormalities associated with HM. Conclusion: PLC-PHM MPC incidence is rising, characterized by a significant proportion of lung adenocarcinoma and a high prevalence of positive driver genes, especially in EGFR. Despite suffering from two primary tumors, the PLC-PHM MPC patients had superior data of both PFS and OS, suggesting an inherently intricate background of genetic abnormalities between the two kinds of tumors. Large‐sized transparent scintillators with a high photoluminescent quantum yield (PLQY) and self‐absorption‐free properties are highly desired to achieve high spatial resolution X‐ray imaging. In this research, a transparent 0D organic–inorganic (ETP)2SbCl5 (ETP = Ethyl triphenylphosphine) amorphous wafer is developed by melting the ETPCl and SbCl3 mixture and then undergoing a quenching process. The obtained amorphous wafer exhibits a high light transmittance of 86% in the range of 450–800 nm. It also shows a light emission peak at 624 nm, a Stokes shift of 259 nm, and PLQY approaching unity (99.3%). These properties enable it to produce X‐ray images with a high spatial resolution of 19.0 lp mm−1 at a modulation transfer function (MTF) value of 0.2, among the best values reported. Additionally, it also shows remarkable stability under continuous X‐ray illumination. Its unique optical properties and ability to be processed in large sizes make the organic–inorganic metal halide transparent wafer a promising scintillator. This also demonstrates the potential application of the melt‐quenching method in fabricating highly luminescent, low‐electronic‐dimensional metal halide wafers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Numerous studies have demonstrated a positive correlation between diet quality and cognitive performance, indicating that improving diet quality may be beneficial in preventing cognitive decline in older adults. However, few study has investigated the causal relationship between diet quality and cognitive performance. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the causal effects of diet quality on cognitive performance in Chinese adults aged 55 years and older. Particularly, we utilize the Chinese Diet Quality Index (CHEI), a dietary assessment tool tailored for Chinese populations, as a proxy for older adults' diet quality. Methods: Data were obtained from the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) ( N = 2337 , ≥ 55 years old) conducted in 2004 and 2006. Cognitive function was tested by a subset of items from the Telephone Interview for Cognitive Status-Modified (TICS-m). Data on dietary intake was retrieved from three consecutive 24 hour recalls by participants and its quality was assessed by the 17-items Chinese Healthy Eating Index (CHEI). An Instrumental Variable technique was used to deal with the potential endogeneity of dietary quality. The instrumental variable used in our study is the community mean of CHEI. Results: After adjusting for socio-demographic factors (age, gender, education, per capita household income), lifestyle habits (smoking, alcohol consumption, physical activity, BMI), and chronic diseases (hypertension, diabetes), our findings revealed that improving diet quality had a significant positive effect on cognitive performance ( P = 0.020 ), particularly in females aged 55-65 years ( P = 0.003 ) and females with primary education and below ( P < 0.001 ). Conclusion: Our study suggests that improving diet quality and adhering to the Dietary Guidelines for Chinese may enhance cognitive performance in Chinese adults aged 55 years and older. Summary: To compare the clinical efficacy of porcine anti‐lymphocyte globulin (p‐ALG) and rabbit anti‐thymocyte globulin (r‐ATG) in the treatment of haematological malignancies using haploidentical haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (haplo‐HSCT), this study was conducted. The incidences of neutrophil and platelet engraftment, respectively, were 100%, 93.6% and 94.4%; 100%, 93.6% and 90.3% in p‐ALG 75 mg/kg (n = 57), p‐ALG 90 mg/kg (n = 49), and r‐ATG 7.5 mg/kg (n = 72). The median time to neutrophil engraftment and platelet engraftment were 11, 12 and 12 days (p = 0.032); 13, 14 and 13 days (p = 0.013), respectively. The incidence of grades II–IV acute graft‐versus‐host disease and cumulative incidence of chronic graft‐versus‐host disease were 16.7% versus 12.5% versus 13.3% (p = 0.817) and 14.7% versus 12.1% versus 19.5% in p‐ALG 75 mg/kg, p‐ALG 90 mg/kg and r‐ATG groups. Notably, the cytomegalovirus infection rate in the p‐ALG 75 mg/kg group was significantly lower than the other two groups. The cumulative incidence of 2‐year relapse and 2‐year overall survival rates were similar (p = 0.901, p = 0.497). The lower dose of p‐ALG (75 mg/kg) had a similar efficacy and safety profile compared with r‐ATG (7.5 mg/kg) in the setting of haplo‐HSCT. Therefore, p‐ALG (75 mg/kg) may be an appropriate alternative to r‐ATG in the conditioning regimen of haplo‐HSCT. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aminophylline (AMP) is a bronchodilator. The therapeutic and toxic doses are very close. Therefore, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of AMP is essential in clinical practice. Microgels were synthesized by free radical precipitation polymerization. Silver@poly(N -isopropyl acrylamide) (Ag@PNIPAM) hybrid microgels were obtained by loading silver (Ag) nanoparticles into the three-dimensional network of the microgels by in situ reduction. The microgel is a three-dimensional reticular structure with tunable pore size, large specific surface area, and good biocompatibility, which can be used as a sorbent for solid-phase extraction (SPE) of target molecules in complex matrices and as a surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrate. We optimized the conditions affecting SERS enhancement, such as silver nitrate (AgNO3) concentration and SPE time, according to the SERS strategy of Ag@PNIPAM hybrid microgels to achieve label-free TDM for trace AMP in human serum. The results showed good linearity between the logarithmic concentration of AMP and its SERS intensity in the range of 1–1.1 × 102 µg/mL, with a correlation coefficient (R 2) of 0.9947 and a low detection limit of 0.61 µg/mL. The assay accuracy was demonstrated by spiking experiments, with recoveries ranging from 93.0 to 101.8%. Regio-isomers are utilized to design innovative AIE luminogens (AIEgens) by regulating molecular aggregation behavior. However, relevant examples are limited, and the underlying mechanism is not fully understood. Herein, a regio-isomer strategy is used to develop AIEgens by precisely regulating the intermolecular interactions in the solid state. Among the regio-isomers it is investigated, ortho- isomer (DCM-O3-O7) exhibits enhanced AIE-activity than the para- isomer (DCM-P6), and the size of the ortho- substituents is crucial for the AIE performance. The underlying mechanism of the strategy is revealed using DFT calculations and single-crystal analysis. Dual hydrogen bonds (C─H∙∙∙π and C─H∙∙∙N) are generated between the molecules, which contributes to form dimers, tetramers, and 1D supramolecular structures in the crystal. By restricting intramolecular motion and attenuating π-π interactions, solid-state fluorescence is significantly enhanced. This strategy's effectiveness is validated using other donor-acceptor fluorophores, with DCM-O6 and its analogues serving as efficient probes for bioimaging applications. Notably, DCM-OM, which bears a morpholinyl instead of piperidinyl group, displayed strong lysosome-targeting ability and photostability; DCM-OP, incorporated by the hydrophilic quaternary ammonium group, exhibited wash-free imaging and cell membrane-targeting capabilities; and DCM-O6 nanoparticles enabled high-fidelity in vivo tumor imaging. Background: Noninvasive evaluation of fetal lung development is a critical area of study. Two-dimensional shear-wave elastography (2D-SWE) provides valuable insights into tissue stiffness, potentially correlating with different stages of lung development. This study aims to explore the potential of the 2D-SWE technique for assessing the maturity of fetal lung development., Methods: This prospective cohort study included pregnant women undergoing routine antenatal ultrasound examinations at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University and Quanzhou Women's and Children's Hospital from September 2022 to September 2023. The study consecutively recruited 300 pregnant women with normal pregnancies and 15 who opted for induced labor. Among those with normal pregnancies, the study assessed the differences in fetal pulmonary and hepatic elasticity measurements across different gestational weeks (GW) using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Furthermore, regression analyses using linear, quadratic, and cubic equations were conducted to investigate the relationship between fetal parameters and GW. For those who opted for induced labor, elasticity measurements were taken before induction, and fetal lung tissue specimens were collected for post-induction observation., Results: Fetal lung and liver elasticity values, along with the lung-to-liver elasticity ratio (LLE ratio), showed significant variations across different GW (P<0.05). Specifically, fetal lung elasticity values initially increased and then decreased as GW advanced (R2=0.41). Liver elasticity values continuously increased throughout GW, though the rate of increase diminished during the prenatal period (R2=0.37). The LLE ratio values increased and then decreased over GW, fluctuating overall between 0.8 and 0.9 (R2=0.14).
