Objective To investigate the correlation between clinical symptoms and imaging features with quality of life in patients after endoscopic transnasal or transoral approach for resection of skull base chordoma. Methods The clinical and imaging data of 14 patients with skull base chordoma who underwent endoscopic transnasal or transoral approach for resection in Tianjin Huanhu Hospital from March 2016 to March 2022 were retrospectively analysed. Quality of life after endoscopic skull base chordoma resection was measured by 36‑Item Short‑Form Health Survey (SF‑36). The correlation between clinical symptoms and imaging features with SF‑ 36 was investigated using Point‑Biserial correlation and partial correlation analyses. Results Correlation analyses indicated that headache (r = ‑ 0.998, P = 0.043), diplopia (r = ‑ 0.999, P = 0.032), visual disturbance (r = ‑ 0.998, P = 0.037), sinus symptoms (r = ‑ 0.997, P = 0.047）, subtotal or most partial removal (r = ‑ 0.998, P = 0.038) were negatively correlated with body pain in SF‑36, while postoperative radiotherapy (r = 0.998, P = 0.038), total clival tumor (r = 0.998, P = 0.036) and tumor volume > 20 cm3 (r = 0.999, P = 0.035) were positively correlated with body pain in SF ‑ 36. Conclusions Patients with skull base chordoma who have headache, diplopia, visual disturbance, sinus symptoms, and subtotal or most partial removal possibly have reduced quality of life after endoscopic resection. The patients with the clinical symptoms and imaging features above deserve more attention.

Given the specialized nature of English text translation in academic settings and the frequent absence of reliable reference materials, translation processes often lack verifiable evidence, impacting both efficiency and quality. This paper addresses these challenges by first developing a basic syntactic error correction model that leverages the structural features of recurrent neural networks (RNNs) and gated recurrent unit (GRU) networks to establish a Seq2Seq syntactic error correction framework. To enhance this model, we incorporate an Attention mechanism into the Seq2Seq-based English grammar error correction model. This innovation enables the model to swiftly focus on segments most pertinent to the current context, thereby boosting operational efficiency. Subsequently, we create a college English text translation data corpus using Numerical Intelligence techniques to maintain grammatical accuracy within the corpus. Comparative analysis of the model training reveals that the Seq2Seq model with the Attention mechanism achieves an accuracy rate of 41.7%, which represents a 9.19% improvement over the basic model, underscoring its significant advantage. Furthermore, the average accuracy rate for grammatical error correction stands at 72.87%. A practical application analysis shows a minimal difference of only 0.05 points between the model’s grammar correction scores and those of human teachers. The corpus developed using this enhanced grammar error correction model scored 86 overall, outperforming other corpora. Therefore, the augmented Seq2Seq model with the Attention mechanism proves highly effective for developing English text translation corpora in collegiate environments.

The RNA modification, 5‐methylcytosine (m5C), has recently gained prominence as a pivotal post‐transcriptional regulator of gene expression, intricately intertwined with various tumorigenic processes. However, the exact mechanisms governing m5C modifications during the onset and progression of colorectal cancer (CRC) remain unclear. Here, it is determined that the m5C methyltransferase NSUN2 exhibits significantly elevated expression and exerts an oncogenic function in CRC. Mechanistically, NSUN2 and YBX1 are identified as the "writer" and "reader" of ENO1, culminating in the reprogramming of the glucose metabolism and increased production of lactic acid in an m5C‐dependent manner. The accumulation of lactic acid derived from CRC cells, in turn, activates the transcription of NSUN2 through histone H3K18 lactylation (H3K18la), and induces the lactylation of NSUN2 at the Lys356 residue (K356), which is crucial for capturing target RNAs. Together, these findings reveal an intriguing positive feedback loop involving the NSUN2/YBX1/m5C‐ENO1 signaling axis, thereby bridging the connection between metabolic reprogramming and epigenetic remodeling, which may shed light on the therapeutic potential of combining an NSUN2 inhibitor with immunotherapy for CRC. 3D point cloud registration is a crucial technology for 3D scene reconstruction and has been successfully applied in various domains, such as smart healthcare and intelligent transportation. With theoretical analysis, we find that geometric structural relationships are essential for 3D point cloud registration. The 3D point cloud registration method achieves excellent performance only when fusing local and global features with geometric structure information. Based on these discoveries, we propose a 3D point cloud registration method based on geometric structure embedding into the attention mechanism (GraM), which can extract the local features of the non-critical point and global features of the corresponding point containing geometric structure information. According to the local and global features, the simple regression operation can obtain the transformation matrix of point cloud pairs, thereby eliminating the semantics that ignores the geometric structure relationship. GraM surpasses the state-of-the-art results by 0.548° and 0.915° regarding the relative rotation error on ModelNet40 and LowModelNet40, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To investigate the treatment of internal carotid artery rupture after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods: The clinical data of 7 patients with internal carotid artery rupture after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma from March 2020 to March 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Results: Skull base osteonecrosis with infection occurred in 4 cases, and tumor recurrence with infection in 3 cases. DSA showed that internal carotid artery rupture was located in the internal carotid artery petrosal segment in 6 cases, and in the paravicular segment in 1 case. Balloon occlusion test（BOT） was performed in 6 patients, of which 3 passed and 3 failed. Vascular treatment included internal carotid artery embolization（4 cases）, false aneurysm embolization 1 case（rebleeding）, coated stent 1 case（rebleeding）, muscle compression during operation（1 case）. Patients with rebleeding received high-flow bypass. Three cases developed cerebral infarction after embolization without severe sequelae after treatment, and no death occurred within 90 days. After bleeding control, all 3 patients with cranial base necrosis received surgical treatment to remove the necrotic bone and tissue flap repair, and 1 patient with recurrence received gamma knife and targeted therapy, 1 patient received immune and surgical therapy, and 1 patient received immune and targeted therapy. Conclusion: Rupture and hemorrhage of internal carotid artery after radiotherapy is related to tumor invasion, tissue injury and local infection after radiotherapy. For those caused by tumor invasion, it is recommended to sacrifice the responsible vessels. For those caused by infection, emergency surgery is recommended and blood vessels preserved.
