Objectives: This study aimed to simultaneously and bilingually validate the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture (HSOPSC 2.0) and the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire (SAQ). Methods: The validation included translation, cultural adaptation, and assessment of validity and consistency. Data were collected in three hospitals in 2022 via online and paper surveys, with Estonian- and Russian-speaking employees participating. Results: In total, 579 (30%) participants from the three hospitals completed both questionnaires. Among them, 293 (51%) were Russian-speaking and 286 (49%) were Estonian-speaking. Cronbach's αhy for HSOPSC 2.0 was ≥0.60, except in the Russian version for the three dimensions. Cronbach's α for SAQ was ≥0.60, except in the Russian version for one dimension. Pearson's correlations of the Estonian HSOPSC 2.0 ranged from 0.26 to 0.60 and in the Russian version from 0.18 to 0.47. Conclusion: The validity of the HSOPSC 2.0 and SAQ questionnaires was confirmed in the Estonian versions. Minor corrections were recommended for the Russian. Background: This study investigated the association between handgrip strength (HGS) and physical activity (PA) at different levels in Korean adults for the purpose of providing direction for increasing HGS, which represents muscular strength, and increasing understanding of PA and HGS. Methods: This study targeted adults aged ≥30 years from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2014–2019), including 31,888 participants for analysis. HGS was defined as the maximum value of the three measurements of the dominant hand. PA was defined as an activity that causes shortness of breath or a fast heartbeat. Data were weighted according to survey district and household data; p <.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: In men, HGS in those aged 30–64 years was significantly associated with high‐intensity PA and in those aged ≥65 years was associated with moderate‐intensity PA. In women, HGS in those aged 30–64 years was also significantly associated with high‐intensity PA, and in those aged ≥65 years, it was significantly associated with both moderate‐ and high‐intensity PA. Moreover, compared to participants who did not participate in weight training, those who participated showed higher HGS in both sexes. Conclusions: This study demonstrated age‐ and sex‐specific characteristics of the association between HGS and PA in Koreans. The findings suggest the importance of managing health by considering differences in age‐ and sex‐related PA. In particular, this study suggests that adequate PA is necessary despite its importance of PA for elderly individuals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This study aimed to report the overall national trends in the rates of cancer screening based on recommendations and provide insights into the changing trends of these rates across different demographics., Materials and Methods: This study used data from the Korean National Cancer Screening Survey (KNCSS), which surveys nationwide cancer-screening rates and includes 4,500 individuals meeting the Korean National Cancer Screening Program (NCSP) protocol age criteria. Cancer-screening rates were assessed using structured questionnaires; yearly trends were analyzed for both lifetime cancer-screening rates and rates of screening based on recommendations, and subgroup analyses were performed based on age and sex., Results: The rates of cancer screening based on recommendations showed significant increments: the stomach cancer-screening rate increased from 39.2% in 2004 to 77.5% in 2023 (3.50% per year), the liver cancer-screening rate increased from 20.0% to 48.8% (4.30% per year), and the colorectal cancer, increased from 19.9% to 70.7% (5.15% per year). The breast cancer-screening rate increased from 33.2% to 72.7% (2.88% per year), and the cervical cancer, increased from 58.3% to 70.2% (1.08% per year). Despite some differences, particularly in relation to sociodemographic factors, screening rates increased significantly for all cancer types., Conclusion: Cancer-screening rates in Korea increased consistently from 2004 to 2023, demonstrating the effectiveness of the national cancer-screening program. However, the increments in breast, cervical and lung cancer-screening rates were relatively lower, indicating the need for additional efforts and strategies.

Background Vector-borne diseases continue to significantly contribute to mortality and morbidity, especially in developing nations. Vector management is a key pillar in combating these diseases, and long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) are cost-effective tools. The Government of India, under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), has distributed LLINs for free to increase coverage and utilization. This study aims to estimate the coverage and utilization of LLINs in Burla town. Method This cross-sectional study was conducted from October to December 2022 in Burla town of Sambalpur in Odisha, India. The estimated sample size was 510 households, assuming 50% coverage. Multi-stage cluster sampling was adopted to select the Anganwadi centers and households. A pretested questionnaire was utilized for data collection by trained personnel through Epicollect5 (Centre for Genomic Pathogen Surveillance, Oxford, UK). Logistic regression was used to identify predictors for LLIN usage. Results The survey covered 516 households with 2,541 individuals and 1,165 nets. Household-level coverage was 94.2%, and regular utilization was 45.74%. Skin reactions (35.7%) were the most common reason for non-usage, followed by low mosquito density (12%). Logistic regression showed that the number of rooms (adjusted odds ratio (AOR) = 0.663, p = 0.012), number of bed nets (AOR = 2.757, p < 0.001), knowledge of malaria (AOR = 2.92, p = 0.04), adopting other measures for mosquito control (AOR = 0.295, p < 0.001), and washing the net (AOR = 1.92, p = 0.028) significantly predicted sleeping under mosquito net. Conclusion Our study has depicted high coverage of LLINs in Burla town, but utilization needs further improvement. Counseling regarding proper use can decrease the skin reactions responsible for non-usage.
