A micro-nano sharkskin like film (Cu-MNS-FA) was synthesized on copper surface through chemical etching followed by formate passivation, and its anticorrosive, antibacterial and thermal conductivity properties were investigated. Results show that after 7 d of exposure to nature, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Desulfovibrio vulgaris seawater, the charge transfer resistance of Cu-MNS-FA is more than three times higher than that of unmodified copper. In particular, in D. vulgaris seawater, the R ct value of modified copper is 7 times higher than that of unmodified copper after the same exposure duration. The counts of sessile cells, specifically P. aeruginosa and D. vulgaris, on the surface of modified copper are reduced by > 88 % after 3 days of immersion. Furthermore, thermal conductivity remains 10 % higher than that of untreated copper after 7 d of immersion. This study tackles the challenge of improving both barrier and mechanical properties in biodegradable PBS/PLLA blends, which typically suffer from phase separation and the low-barrier performance of PLLA. By introducing a novel "Slit Extrusion-Hot Stretching-Quench-Compression" technique, the research offers a systematic investigation of how controlling the stretch ratio in an extensional flow affects the morphology and structure of the film. Using advanced techniques like synchrotron radiation small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the study demonstrates that PLLA nanofibers with high crystallinity can be in-situ generated when stretch ratios exceed 3. These nanofibers provide a tortuous pathway and confinement effect to boost the film's tensile strength (15 % strength increase), and modulus properties (300 % elastic modulus boost), as well as enhance its oxygen barrier by 33 %. This innovative approach creates a nanostructured film that enhances interphase interaction and gas permeability tortuosity without the need for nanoparticles, paving the way for the practical fabrication of optimized biodegradable polymer blends at scale. The capture of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) is essential in the separation and detection of MNPs for applications such as magnetic biosensing. The sensitivity of magnetic biosensors inherently depends upon the distribution of captured MNPs within the sensing area. We previously demonstrated that the distribution of MNPs captured from evaporating droplets by ferromagnetic antidot nanostructures can be controlled via an external magnetic field. In this paper, we demonstrate the capture of magnetic nanoparticles from a microfluidic flow by four variants of antidot array nanostructures etched into 30 nm thick Permalloy films. The nanostructures were exposed to 130 nm MNP clusters passing through microfluidic channels with square cross-sections of 400 μm × 400 μm. In the presence of a parallel magnetic field, up to 83.1% of nanoparticles were captured inside the antidot holes. Significantly higher proportions of nanoparticles were captured within the antidots from the flow than when applying the nanoparticles via droplets. In the parallel field configuration, MNPs can be focused into the regularly spaced antidot indents in the nanostructure, which may be useful when detecting or observing MNPs and their conjugates. Conversely, up to 84% of MNPs were caught outside of antidots under a perpendicular magnetic field. In this report, we have employed an electrodeposition approach under three-electrode configuration to fabricate Co3O4 electrode film and investigated the effect of electrolytic Na+ and K+ from KOH, NaOH, and Na2SO4 aqueous electrolytes, on its charge storage characteristics. The microstructural studies validated the formation of stable phases and cubic crystal structure. The film grew with slightly dense sphere-shaped nanostructure and large surface area and is composed of corresponding elements, as revealed from microstructural studies. The charge storage measurements on fabricated Co3O4 film electrode were carried out extensively under three-electrode mode. The electrode's performance was found to be dependent on ion diffusion nature of the electrolytes and hence displayed optimum specific capacitance/capacity of 240 Fg−1/46.6mAh g−1 in Na2SO4 compared to in NaOH due to multiple redox peaks, with better ion diffusion in KOH due to smaller Na⁺ ions, constituting relatively low solution resistance with faster ion kinetic and transport. The study unveiled that the performance of Co3O4 electrode in aqueous electrolyte is dependent on the electrolyte's ionic strengths, mobility and diffusion, and pH. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The burgeoning field of biosensors has seen significant advancements with the induction of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanostructures, because of their unique structural, electrical, and optical properties. ZnO nanostructures provide numerous benefits for biosensor applications. Their superior electron mobility enables effective electron transfer between the bioreceptor and transducer, enhancing sensitivity and reducing detection limits. Furthermore, ZnO's biocompatibility and non-toxicity make it ideal for in vivo applications, reducing the chances of adverse biological responses. This review paper explores the prospects of ZnO nanostructures in the development of biosensors, focusing on their morphological and structural characteristics. Various synthesis techniques, that include sol-gel, sputtering, and chemical vapor deposition, were successfully employed to prepare different ZnO nanostructures, like nanorods, nanotubes, and nanowires. The various findings in this field underscore the efficacy of ZnO nanostructures in enhancing the specificity and sensitivity of biosensors, presenting a promising avenue for the advancement of point-of-care diagnostic devices.
