The use of non-specific language to describe board-certified dermatologists in academic settings obscures the public understanding of their qualifications. This study analyzes online patient reviews nationwide to assess gender differences in the terminology used to describe academic dermatologists. We conducted a cross-sectional study, examining reviews from 62 academic institutions across 39 states, analyzing the use of terms such as “provider,” “practitioner,” “clinician,” “health care professional,” “physician,” “dermatologist,” and “doctor.” Gender identification was determined through analysis of photographs, names, and pronouns from online biographies. Statistical analyses were performed using two-sample Z-tests with a significance level of 0.01. The data included 65,316 reviews (26,159 from reviews of men and 39,157 from women). Our findings demonstrated a statistically significant gender disparity in term usage. Women dermatologists were more frequently referred to as “provider” (5.01%) compared to their male counterparts (3.92%; p < 0.001). A smaller, but still statistically significant, disparity was found with the term “dermatologist” (5.61% for women vs. 5.13% for men; p < 0.01). Other professional terms did not show significant gender differences in usage. The results suggest a consistent gender bias in the language used by patients, with women more frequently referred to by the nonspecific term “provider,” potentially diminishing their perceived qualifications compared to male dermatologists. This disparity in language use might influence patient perceptions of expertise and professional authority, emphasizing the need for clearer communication and more precise use of professional titles. Limitations of the study include possible underestimations due to misspelled terms and potential misgendering from online profiles. Additionally, data from 11 states were insufficient, likely due to the absence of academic centers in those regions. In conclusion, our study highlights notable gender disparities in the terminology used in patient reviews of dermatologists across academic centers in the U.S. Addressing these language biases is crucial for enhancing gender equity and improving patient understanding of dermatologists’ roles and expertise. Background: Prompts offer a promising strategy to promote client engagement in internet-delivered cognitive behavioral therapy (ICBT). However, if the prompts do not meet the needs of clients, they can potentially be more obtrusive rather than helpful., Objective: The aim of this study was to test if prompts tailored based on timing and frequency, aligned with preintervention goal setting, can increase usage and the efficacy of a therapist-supported ICBT stress recovery intervention for health care workers., Methods: The 2-arm randomized controlled trial included 87 health care workers (99% female, aged 19-68 years: mean 39.61, SD 11.49): 43 in the standard intervention group and 44 in the tailored prompts group. The primary outcome measure was the Recovery Experiences Questionnaire, and the secondary outcomes were the Perceived Stress Scale-4, the Patient Health Questionnaire-4, and the World Health Organization-5 Well-Being Index. The self-report data were collected before the intervention (September 2022), postintervention (October 2022), and 6-month follow-up (May 2023)., Results: The results showed that tailored prompts, although appreciated by the majority (39/40, 98%), did not improve intervention usage indicators, such as the number of logins (t 85 =-0.91; P=.36), modules opened (t 83.57 =-1.47; P=.15), modules completed (t 85 =-0.71; P=.48), exercises completed (t 85 =-1.05; P=.30), or the time spent using the program (χ 2 2 =1.1; P=.57). Similarly, tailored prompts did not increase the effects of the intervention in terms of stress recovery skills (Cohen d ranging from 0.31 to 0.85), perceived stress (d=-0.08; -0.70), depression (d=-0.11; -0.38), anxiety (d=-0.32; -0.64), or psychological well-being (d=0.26; 0.46). In addition, the standard intervention group showed greater long-term stress recovery effects than the group using the internet-delivered intervention supplemented by tailored prompts (β=-0.24, P=.03)., Conclusions: Although the study confirmed the efficacy of the program, the merits of tailored prompts in ICBT for stress recovery were not supported. Background: Primary care physicians (PCPs) and nurse practitioners play a key role in guiding caregivers on early peanut protein (PP) introduction, yet many lack adequate knowledge., Aim Statement: This quality improvement study aimed to enhance understanding among PCPs and caregivers about evidence-based guidelines for early PP introduction in infants' diets., Methods: Using the Stetler Model, PCP knowledge was evaluated through pre-test, educational video and some posttest material. Caregivers completed the Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool (PEMAT) survey after reviewing an educational handout RESULTS: The N = 22 PCPs pre-education test score had an average of 61.11% and noted N = 21 PCPs posteducation test score average to increase to 84.09%. The N = 68 caregivers completed the PEMAT survey, with results indicating enhanced caregiver knowledge.
