A study was conducted to examine the development of literary standards from the readings of children's texts that are culturally different in form and content. Three instances on the relationship between multicultural and conventional children's literature were given. The instances accommodated concerns related to conflict, aesthetic experiences and fiction. Results showed that aesthetics could support a pluralization of ways in which children's books can be read and used. However, aesthetics could also promote uncertainties in the association between the pedagogical and literary aspects of children's books.
