The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effects and mechanism of isovitexin, a glycosylflavonoid isolated from rice hulls of Oryza sativa , on Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)/ d -galactosamine (D-Gal)-induced acute liver injury. The mice were randomly divided into five groups: control group, LPS/D-Gal group, and LPS/D-Gal + isovitexin groups. The mice of LPS/D-Gal group were received of LPS (50 μg/kg) and D-gal (800 mg/kg) intraperitoneal. The mice of LPS/D-Gal + isovitexin groups were received isovitexin (25, 50, 100 mg/kg) 1 h before LPS/D-Gal treatment. The results showed that the severity of liver injury was attenuated by treatment of isovitexin, as confirmed by the decreased liver histopathologic changes, as well as serum AST and ALT levels. Furthermore, the levels of TNF-α in serum and liver tissues, MPO activity and MDA content were significantly inhibited by isovitexin. In addition, isovitexin significantly attenuated NF-κB phosphorylation induced by LPS/D-Gal. The expression of Nrf2 and HO-1 were significantly up-regulated by isovitexin. In conclusion, isovitexin could protect against LPS/D-Gal-induced liver injury by inhibiting inflammatory and oxidative responses. Isovitexin also had protective effects against carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 )-induced liver injury. Isovitexin may used as a potential agent for the treatment of liver injury. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The association between sleep and myopia in children and adolescents has been reported, yet it remains controversial and inconclusive. This study aimed to investigate the influence of different sleep traits on the risk of myopia using meta-analytical and Mendelian randomization (MR) techniques. The literature search was performed in August 31, 2023 based on PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane library. The meta-analysis of observational studies reporting the relationship between sleep and myopia was conducted. MR analyses were carried out to assess the causal impact of genetic pre-disposition for sleep traits on myopia. The results of the meta-analysis indicated a significant association between the risk of myopia and both short sleep duration [odds ratio (OR) = 1.23, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.08–1.42, P = 0.003] and long sleep duration (OR = 0.75, 95% CI = 0.66–0.86, P < 0.001). MR analyses revealed no significant causal associations of genetically determined sleep traits with myopia, including chronotype, sleep duration, short sleep duration and long sleep duration (all P > 0.05). No evidence was found to support a causal relationship between sleep traits and myopia. While sleep may not independently predict the risk of myopia, the potential impact of sleep on the occurrence and development of myopia cannot be disregarded. • Meta-analysis showed that short and long sleep duration were associated with myopia. • Mendelian randomization analyses found no causality between sleep with myopia. • Sleep may potentially influence myopia, but it may not be an independent factor. Rab11-family interacting proteins (Rab11-FIPs) belong to an evolutionarily conserved protein family and act as effector molecules for the Rab11 family of small GTPases. Recent evidence suggests that Rab11-FIPs have important roles in tumor progression and metastasis. However, the contribution of Rab11-FIPs to colorectal carcinoma (CRC) remains elusive. Our study focuses on elucidating the role of Rab11-FIP2 in the migration and invasion of colorectal cancer cells. We firstly found upregulation of Rab11-FIP2 in CRC tissues compared with peritumor tissues by oncomine data-mining analysis, western blot analysis and immunohistochemistry (IHC) analysis, respectively. Then, we demonstrated that knockdown of Rab11-FIP2 via siRNAs transfection resulted in a decrease in migration and invasion of CRC cells, while overexpression of Rab11-FIP2 via lentiviral infection increased migration and invasion of CRC cells. In addition, we verified that Rab11-FIP2 promoted migration and invasion of CRC cells through upregulating MMP7 expression. Finally, using several kinase inhibitors, our results showed that Rab11-FIP2 regulated MMP7 expression through activating PI3K/Akt signaling. Our data suggested a potential role of Rab11-FIP2 in tumor progression and provided novel insights into the mechanism of how Rab11-FIP2 positively regulated cell migration and invasion in CRC cells. Metabolomics analyzes the entire range of small molecule metabolites in biological systems to reveal the response signals that are transmitted from "genetics and environment", which could help us understand complex phenotypes of diseases. Metabolomics has been successfully applied to the study of eye diseases including age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. In this review, we summarize the findings of myopic metabolomics and discuss them from a design and analysis perspective. Finally, we provide new ideas for the future development of myopia metabolomics research based on the broader ocular metabolomics study.
