In this paper, a novel reversible data hiding scheme for Two-stage VQ (Vector quantization) compressed images based on SOC (Search-order coding) scheme is proposed. Two-stage VQ improves VQ by obtaining better reconstructed image and generating indices with higher correlation. The difference image, as the input of Two-stage VQ, is produced by employing the first codeword in state codebook and the current image block. The main idea of SOC method is exploiting the correlation of indices to derive better compression performance. The combination of SOC and data hiding can achieve both high compression rate and high embedding capacity. Since Two-stage VQ can achieve indices with higher correlation, this advantage is applied to enhance the data hiding performance. Moreover, the cover image can be reconstructed by the receiver without using any side information. Despite of the effectiveness of the anti-ErbB2 humanized antibody trastuzumab, trastuzumab resistance emerges as a major and common clinical problem. Thus, circumventing trastuzumab resistance has become an urgent need. Recently, Src inhibitor saracatinib has drawn great attention for its key role in trastuzumab response. As shown in our previous study, H2-18, an anti-ErbB2 antibody, could potently induce programmed cell death (PCD) in trastuzumab-resistant breast cancer cells. Here we combined H2-18 and a Src inhibitor, saracatinib, and studied the antitumor activity of this drug combination in trastuzumab-resistant breast cancer cell lines. The results showed that H2-18 and saracatinib could synergistically inhibit cell proliferation of BT-474, SKBR-3, HCC-1954 and HCC-1419 breast cancer cell lines in vitro. H2-18 plus saracatinib could also inhibit the HCC-1954 tumor growth more effectively in vivo than each drug alone. H2-18 plus saracatinib showed a significantly more potent PCD-inducing activity compared with either H2-18 or saracatinib alone. We conclude that enhanced PCD may contribute to the superior antitumor efficacy of this combination therapy. The combination of H2-18 and SRC inhibitor has the potential to be translated into clinic. The anti-ErbB2 humanized antibody trastuzumab was approved for ErbB2-positive metastatic gastric and gastro-esophageal junction cancer in 2010. Despite the effectiveness of trastuzumab, its efficacy remains variable and often modest. Thus, there is an urgent need to improve ErbB2-targeting therapy. Down-regulation of surface receptors induced by monoclonal antibody (mAb) contributes to its antitumor efficacy. Previous studies have demonstrated that if two anti-ErbB2 mAbs did not compete with each other for binding to ErbB2, the combination of them can enhance ErbB2 internalization. In the present study, we investigated ErbB2 internalization-inducing ability of non-competitive anti-ErbB2 mAb combinations and surprisingly found that most of the mAb combinations tested did not down-regulate ErbB2. Only 4 of 18 non-competitive mAb pairs efficiently induced ErbB2 internalization. Interestingly, although the non-competitive anti-ErbB2 mAbs trastuzumab and pertuzumab, either alone or in combination, were ineffective at inducing ErbB2 internalization, TP L , a bispecific antibody engineered from trastuzumab and pertuzumab, potently down-regulated the ErbB2 molecule. Importantly, TP L exhibited a far greater antitumor effect on ErbB2-overexpressing gastric cancer cell line than trastuzumab plus pertuzumab, suggesting that it may be a promising agent for the treatment of gastric cancer. Abstract: Reversible data hiding is a method that not only embeds secret data but also reconstructs the original cover image without distortion after the confidential data are extracted. In this paper, we propose novel reversible data hiding scheme that can embed high capacity of secret bits and recover image after data extraction. Our proposed scheme depends on the locally adaptive coding scheme (LAC) as Chang&Nguyen’s scheme and SMVQ scheme. Experimental results show that the compression rate of our proposed scheme is 0.33bpp on average. To embed secret bits we propose the normal-hiding scheme and the over-hiding scheme which have an average embedding rate of 2.01bpi and 3.01bpi, more than that of Chang&Nguyen’s scheme (1.36bpi). The normal-hiding scheme and the over-hiding scheme also has high embedding efficiency of 0.28 and 0.36 on average, which are better than that of Chang&Kieu’s scheme (0.12), Chang&Nguyen’s scheme (0.18) and Chang&Nguyen’s scheme (0.16). Neoadjuvant chemoradiation (nCRT) followed by radical surgery is the preferred option for locally advanced colorectal cancer (CRC) treatment. However, chemo/radio-resistance remains a main obstacle in CRC therapy. In the study, we analyzed the mRNA expression profiling of CRC patients and revealed that the aberrant expression of fibronectin type III domain containing 1 (FNDC1) was associated with disease progression and poor prognosis in CRC. FNDC1 expression was consistently increased in multiple independent cohorts of CRC. Upregulated FNDC1 in pretreated primary tumor tissues predicted a poor response to nCRT, recurrence, and poor disease-free survival in nCRT-treated CRC patients. FNDC1 overexpression accelerated CRC cell survival on 5-FU or radiation treatment both in vitro and in vivo , whereas FNDC1 inhibition sensitized CRC cells to chemoradiation. In addition, FNDC1 accelerated stem cell-like properties of CRC cells. Furthermore, tumor tissues from non-responders exhibited higher activation of PI3K/Akt signaling than those from responders. FNDC1 depletion repressed 5-FU or irradiation-induced activation of PI3K/AKT in CRC cells. More importantly, pharmacological inhibition of PI3K/Akt signaling effectively decreased the effect of FNDC1 on chemoradiation resistance. Immunocytokines (antibody-cytokine fusions) have been proved to be a promising class of therapeutic agents for tumors. Anti-PD-L1 antibodies or IL-2 have been used to treat a variety of cancers. Here, in order to remove T cell inhibition and increasing the IL-2 concentration in the tumor microenvironment, we engineered a novel anti-PD-L1 antibody based immunocytokine by fusing hIL-2 to the C-Term of atezolizumab, denoted as BIPI. Our results revealed that BIPI was effective in stimulating T cell activation in vitro and could selectively localize to the tumor. Furthermore, tumor regression and prolonged survival were also observed in the metastatic colorectal cancer mouse model. The obviously longer survival mice in BIPI treatment group turned out depending on the function of CD8 + T cells. The IFN- secreted from CD8 + T cells in the spleen also contributed to the better tumor inhibition profile in BIPI treatment group than in anti-PD-L1 or IL-2 treatment alone. Taken together, our data evidenced the enhanced antitumor potency of BIPI, suggesting its potential use for cancers with a low response to the anti-PD-L1 or IL-2 treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, we present a new reversible data hiding method based on histogram shifting using localization. Our proposed method selects peak point as the reference point, then uses the two neighboring points of the peak point to achieve secret data embedding based on histogram shifting and the peak point keeps unchanged. In the extraction end, we no longer need the key information about the peak point, we can directly find the peak point from the histogram to extract the secret data. We also exploit the localization to make the histogram of embedded cover image become almost the same as the histogram of the original cover image. In this paper, a new high-performance reversible data hiding method for vector quantization (VQ) indices is proposed. The codebook is firstly sorted using the unidirectional static distance-order technique to improve the correlation among the neighboring indices. The two-dimensional structure of image and the high correlation among the neighboring blocks are used to update the self-organized list L in the improved locally adaptive coding scheme (ILAS). Then a new embedding rule according to the complexity of the region at which the current block locates and the position of current block index in the list L is proposed to obtain a better embedding capacity. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method has a better performance in terms of compression rate, embedding capacity and embedding rate compared with the related data hiding methods. In this paper, a new reversible data hiding scheme for vector quantization (VQ) compressed images is proposed. The proposed scheme utilizes the modified locally adaptive coding scheme which is initially made up with the codebook indices to guarantee that all VQ indices can be coded using the self-organized list L. Then the side match vector quantization (SMVQ) approach is used to improve the performance of locally adaptive coding scheme and a lossless coding method is brought into encode the positions at which the VQ indices appear in the list L. Finally a double-layer embedding strategy, which embeds the secret message into two layers that are the block type descriptor and the encoded position value, is proposed to obtain a better embedding ability. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed scheme has a better performance in terms of compression rate, embedding payload and embedding efficiency compared with the related schemes. Reversible data hiding can completely recover the cover image without any distortion after the secret data is retrieved. In this paper, a new high-fidelity reversible data hiding scheme is proposed using the prediction-error histogram modification technique. A multi-predictor sorting and selecting mechanism is proposed to select an optimum predictor from a set of predictors. Then a smaller prediction-error is obtained to embed the secret data using the prediction-error histogram modification technique. Since the multi-predictor sorting and selecting mechanism can utilize the advantage of multi-predictor and information of current predicted pixel to obtain a more accurate prediction value, our proposed scheme can introduce less image distortion at the same embedding payload.
