Nigerian campuses comprises of diverse culture, ethnicity and religion. Controlling these campuses is a very big deal. Cameras are installed to help security personnel in carrying out these enormous tasks. However, the installed closed circuit television [CCTV] cameras are only used for evidence sourcing rather than prevention of campus vices. With the use of appropriate technique, campus vices can be prevented thus securing the campus. In this research, an Artificial Intelligent (AI) video surveillance system was developed. The system captures, analyses video for any abnormal behaviour and alerts relevant personnel for appropriate required action. The scheme uses crowd surge a crowd analyzer for videos with vulnerability and threats. The result shows that when deployed at strategic flagged locations early campus vices are detected and reported to relevant personnel whom take appropriate actions and measures to curb escalation of the vices.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) is an opportunistic pathogen with a high morbidity andmortality rate in immunocompromised and cystic fibrosis patients. The treatment of P. aeruginosa infections is becoming increasingly difficult due to the bacteria's capacity to tolerate numerous antimicrobial agent. One of the key mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in P. aeruginosa that contributes to both innate and acquired resistance is the efflux pump system Understanding the structure, function, and control of the main efflux pump system, specifically the resistance nodulation division superfamily, iscritical. This could provide baseline data for the development of a new antibacterial that targets this crucial resistance pathway in P. aeruginosa, thereby halting or slowing morbidity and death associated with AMR.

Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is a Gram-positive bacterium that causes a wide range of variable illnesses and can be either transmitted from one place to another through contact with patients or airborne. Because of the increased diversity of S. aureus globally, particularly those that are of clinical significance, and the rapid epidemiology of the bacteria, there is the need to explore the current pattern in our local settings. To achieve this target, there is the need for a genetic method that is fast, easy, cost- effective and able to genetically differentiate between microbes within a given species. Hence, this study utilized the simplicity of RAPD-PCR as a genetic fingerprinting tool in determining the genetic diversity of S. aureus isolated from clinical samples within a local setting. Eighteen isolates of S. aureus were RAPD-typed using a single primer and analyzed using NTSYSpc software. Of the 12 RAPD profiles identified, two major groups and two major clusters were deduced from the dendrogram. More so, ten subtypes were identified amongst which three were indistinguishable based on Jaccard's coefficient of similarity. The findings of this study reveals that most of the isolates are closely related genetically suggesting that may have emerged from closely related clones. Equally, the result of this study depicts the high-resolution power of RAPD-PCR in elucidating the genetic diversity of S. aureus. Therefore, this simple molecular technique could be employed as a routine technique for the molecular epidemiology studies of S. aureus in our local settings and the country as a whole.

Activated carbon (AC) is a versatile adsorbent that is used in the treatment of waste water, colour, odour removal and CO2 capture. Annogeissus leiocarpus is one of abundant agricultural precursor that can be used for the production of activated carbon. Characterization was done to investigate some proximate parameters. The modifications were made by soaking AC in 40% H2SO4 and 40% NaHCO3 for 24hours in the ration of 1:3 w/v. The FT-IR and SEM was conducted for surface functional group and morphology respectively. The result of this study revealed that the activated carbon produced possessed high yield, low Ash content, low Burnt off, low moisture content Average bulk density and large pore volume. The results from FT-IR analysis identified appearance and disappearance of carbonyl and hydroxyl groups which contributed in the creation of more adsorptive site for adsorption process. The results for SEM indicated the development of pores all over the surface of adsorbent with Acid modified activated carbon (AMAC/ H2SO4) having the highest pore distribution followed by Base Modified Activated Carbon (BMAC/NaHCO3) and finally ordinary (AC). The results suggest that the modification of AC using Acid and Base can significantly enhance the surface properties which improves adsorptive properties of the activated carbon produced and enhances it adsorption potentials for wastewater treatment.

Surveillance videos provide security and increases work efficiency in places of work and homes. as the most acceptable form of evidence, surveillance videos are now tampered to hide actions or convey wrong information. Researchers have proposed ways to mitigate the effect of activities of the attackers through checking the authenticity of the video. The proposed schemes suffer performance degradation in the presence of scene changes. Recently a scheme that addresses the effects of scene change on inter-frame forgery detection was developed where it detects scene changes and divides multiple scenes in to shots. The scheme improves the overall performance of the inter-frame forgery detection at the expense of high average computational time. In this research, a video scene change aware forgery detection scheme is proposed to mitigate the effect of scene change on inter-frame forgery detection with low average computational time. The proposed scheme utilizes the luminance level within frame region which is a more efficient feature to detect scene change. The experimental results show that the scheme has 57% decreases in computational average time and increased in accuracy to 99.03%.

Naira notes are means of exchange for goods and services that may act as fomites in the transmission of pathogens. This study determined the identities of microorganisms isolated from notes and their susceptibilities to antibiotics and volatile oils of Ocimum gratissimum, Cymbopogon citratus and Eucalyptus citriodora. Fifteen notes (₦50-₦500) obtained from two Ilorin markets were soaked in sterile water and loopful of each sample was inoculated onto appropriate agar plates. Isolates were identified using standard methods, confirmed with Identification System and Mycological Atlas. Disc and agar diffusion methods were employed for susceptibility tests and positive controls were Ciprofloxacin and fluconazole. S. aureus (42%) was the most prevalent bacteria, Serratia odorifera (11.1%) including Aspergillus niger (1) while some had multiple bacteria. The isolates exhibited 100% resistance to amoxicillin/clavulanate (100%), ceftazidime (57%), sulphamethoxazole trimethoprim (43%) and 100% sensitivity to gentamicin. All S. aureus isolates were methicillin resistant – MRSA and vancomycin susceptible while A. niger exhibited 100% sensitivity to fluconazole. The volatile oil of C. citratus exhibited highest growth inhibitory effects with MBC and MIC of 3.13-0.39 and 1.56-0.39 mg/mL respectively; the oil of E. citriodora exhibited the least activity. This oil can be used as antiseptics against Naira fomites.
