Abstract

Isokinetic and isotonic exercises were studied to determine which of the two would result in the greatest increase in one-legged jump reaction force, and accurately predict the peak force produced during one-legged jumps. Analysis of variance did not reflect any difference between the exercises. An increase in strength was noted, although this cannot be correlated with changes in one-legged reaction force. This means that increased force production in functional rehabilitation is not a result of isokinetic nor isotonic training.
