- Abstract
The article presents a study to examine associations between oral contraceptives (OC) use prior to breast cancer diagnosis and survival. The study tracked 4,565 women with invasive breast cancer participating in the Women's Contraceptive and Reproductive Experiences (CARE) Study and 3,929 from the California Teachers Study (CTS) cohort for vital status. A total of 1,064 died in the CARE study and 523 in the CTS study. Findings from the two independent studies show no overall association between OC use and survival among women with breast cancer.
