The article presents a study which aims to investigate the connection between the risk of acquiring endometrial cancer and thymidylate synthase (TYMS) gene among the citizens in China. Researchers have used population-based case control study of this type of cancer and the participants were interviewed. DNA samples have also collected from the participants to determine the link. Moreover, researchers have determined the relation between TYMS and endometrial cancer in women.

The article focuses on a case-control study conducted among Chinese women to examine the independent and joint effects of folate intake and methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) genotypes on the risk of endometrial cancer. Folate could have anticarcinogenic properties in endometrial cancer risk based on the study. The study indicates that dietary folate intake is reversely associated with the risk of endometrial cancer, especially among women whose folate intake is derived solely from food.
