The low intrinsic thermal conduction and high dielectric properties of epoxy resins have significantly limited their applications in electrical and electronic devices with high integration, high frequency, high power, and miniaturization. Herein, a liquid crystalline epoxy (LCE) monomer with a biphenyl mesogenic unit was first synthesized through an efficient one-step reaction. Subsequently, bisphenol AF (BPAF) containing low-polarizable -CF 3 groups and 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM) were applied to cure the LCE and commercial diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A-type epoxy (E-51), respectively, to afford four kinds of epoxy resins with various intrinsic thermal conductivity and dielectricity values. Owing to the dual effect of microscopically stacking of mesogens and the contribution of fluorine to the formation of liquid crystallinity, ordered microstructures of the nematic liquid crystal phase were formed within the cross-linking network of LCE as confirmed by polarized optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Consequently, phonon scattering was suppressed, and the intrinsic thermal conductivity was improved considerably to 0.38 W/(m·K), nearly twice as high as that of E-51 cured with DDM (0.20 W/(m·K)). Additionally, the ordered microstructure and ultralow polar -CF 3 groups within LCE cured with BPAF enabled the epoxy resin to exhibit a remarkably lower and stable dielectric constant (ε) and dielectric loss tangent (tan δ) over both low and high frequencies compared to E-51 cured with DDM. The ε decreased from 3.40 to 2.72 while the tan δ decreased from 0.044 to 0.038 at 10 GHz. High-performance electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials with ultraflexibility, outstanding mechanical properties, and superior EMI shielding performances are highly desirable for modern integrated electronic and telecommunication systems in areas such as aerospace, military, artificial intelligence, and smart and wearable electronics. Herein, ultraflexible and mechanically strong aramid nanofiber-Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene/silver nanowire (ANF-MXene/AgNW) nanocomposite papers with double-layered structures are fabricated via the facile two-step vacuum-assisted filtration followed by hot-pressing approach. The resultant double-layered nanocomposite papers with a low MXene/AgNW content of 20 wt % exhibit an excellent electrical conductivity of 922.0 S·cm -1 , outstanding mechanical properties with a tensile strength of 235.9 MPa and fracture strain of 24.8%, superior EMI shielding effectiveness (EMI SE) of 48.1 dB, and high EMI SE/t of 10 688.9 dB·cm -1 , benefiting from the highly efficient double-layered structures, high-performance ANF substrate, and extensive hydrogen-bonding interactions. Particularly, the nanocomposite papers show a maximum electrical conductivity of 3725.6 S·cm -1 and EMI SE of ∼80 dB at a MXene/AgNW content of 80 wt % with an absorption-dominant shielding mechanism owing to the massive ohmic losses in the highly conductive MXene/AgNW layer, multiple internal reflections between Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene nanosheets and polarization relaxation of localized defects, and abundant terminal groups. Compared with the homogeneously blended ones, the double-layered nanocomposite papers possess greater advantages in electrical, mechanical, and EMI shielding performances. Moreover, the multifunctional double-layered nanocomposite papers exhibit excellent thermal management performances such as high Joule heating temperature at low supplied voltages, rapid response time, sufficient heating stability, and reliability. The results indicate that the double-layered nanocomposite papers have excellent potential for high-performance EMI shielding and thermal management applications in aerospace, military, artificial intelligence, and smart and wearable electronics.

High-performance and rapid response electrical heaters with ultraflexibility, superior heat resistance, and mechanical properties are highly desirable for the development of wearable devices, artificial intelligence, and high-performance heating systems in areas such as aerospace and the military. Herein, a facile and efficient two-step vacuum-assisted filtration followed by hot-pressing approach is presented to fabricate versatile electrical heaters based on the high-performance aramid nanofibers (ANFs) and highly conductive Ag nanowires (AgNWs). The resultant ANF/AgNW nanocomposite papers present ultraflexibility, extremely low sheet resistance (minimum R s of 0.12 Ω/sq), and outstanding heat resistance (thermal degradation temperature above 500 °C) and mechanical properties (tensile strength of 285.7 MPa, tensile modulus of 6.51 GPa with a AgNW area fraction of 0.4 g/m 2 ), benefiting from the partial embedding of AgNWs into the ANF substrate and the extensive hydrogen-bonding interactions. Moreover, the ANF/AgNW nanocomposite paper-based electrical heaters exhibit satisfyingly high heating temperatures (up to ∼200 °C) with rapid response time (10-30 s) at low AgNW area fractions and supplied voltages (0.5-5 V) and possess sufficient heating reliability, stability, and repeatability during the long-term and repeated heating and cooling cycles. Fully functional applications of the ANF/AgNW nanocomposite paper-based electrical heaters are demonstrated, indicating their excellent potential for emerging electronic applications such as wearable devices, artificial intelligence, and high-performance heating systems.

In this study, a tissue-engineered trachea, consisting of multilevel structural electrospun polylactide (PLA) membranes enveloping 3D-printed thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) skeletons, was developed to create a mechanically robust, antibacterial and bioresorbable graft for the tracheal reconstruction. The study design incorporated two distinct uses of stereocomplex PLA: patterned electrospun fibers to enhance tissue integration compared to the random layered fibers, meanwhile possessing good antibacterial property; and 3D-printed TPU scaffold with elasticity to provide external support and protection. Herein, ionic liquid (IL)-functioned graphene oxide (GO) was synthesized and presented enhanced mechanical and hydrophilicity properties. More interesting, antibacterial activity of the GO- g-IL modified PLA membranes were proved by Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, showing superior antibacterial effect compared to single GO or IL. The synergistic antibacterial effect could be related to that GO break cytomembrane of bacteria by its extremely sharp edges, while IL works by electrostatic interaction between its cationic structures and electronegative phosphate groups of bacteria membranes, leading to the loss of cell electrolyte and cell death. Hence, after L929 fibroblast cells were seeded on patterned fibrous membranes with phenotypic shape, further effective cell infiltration, cell proliferation and attachment were observed. In addition, the tissue-engineered trachea scaffolds were implanted into rabbit models. The in vivo result confirmed that the scaffolds with patterned membranes manifested favorable biocompatibility and promoted tissue regeneration.

As cutting-edge emerging electromagnetic (EM) wave-absorbing materials, the Achilles' heel of graphenes is vulnerable to oxidation under high temperature and oxygen atmosphere, particularly at temperatures more than 600 °C. Herein, a graphene@Fe 3 O 4 /siliconboron carbonitride (SiBCN) nanocomplex with a hierarchical A/B/C structure, in which SiBCN serves as a "shield" to protect graphene@Fe 3 O 4 from undergoing high-temperature oxidation, was designed and tuned by polymer-derived ceramic route. The nanocomplexes are stable even at 1100-1400 °C in either argon or air atmosphere. Their minimum reflection coefficient (RC min ) and effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) are -43.78 dB and 3.4 GHz at ambient temperature, respectively. After oxidation at 600 °C, they exhibit much better EM wave absorption, where the RC min decreases to -66.21 dB and EAB increases to 3.69 GHz in X-band. At a high temperature of 600 °C, they also possess excellent and promising EW wave absorption, for which EAB is 3.93 GHz, covering 93.6% range of X-band. In comparison to previous works on graphenes, either the EAB or the RC min of these nanocomplexes is excellent at high-temperature oxidation. This novel nanomaterial technology may shed light on the downstream applications of graphenes in EM-wave-absorbing devices and smart structures worked in harsh environments.

Porous solid with multimodal pore size distribution provides plenty of advantages including large specific surface area and superior mass transportation to achieve high gas-sensing performances. In this study, α-Fe 2 O 3 nanoparticles with bimodal porous structures were prepared successfully through a nanocasting pathway, adopting the bicontinuous 3D cubic symmetry mesoporous silica KIT-6 as the hard template. Its structure and morphology were characterized by X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption-desorption, transmission electron microscopy, and so on. Furthermore, the gas sensor fabricated from this material exhibited excellent gas-sensing performance to several volatile organic compounds (acetone, ethyl acetate, isopropyl alcohol, n-butanol, ethanol, and methanol), such as ultrahigh sensitivity, rapid response speed (less than 10 s) and recovery time, good reproducibility, as well as stability. These would be associated with the desirable pore structure of the material, facilitating the molecules diffusion toward the entire sensing surface, and providing more active sensing sites for analytical gas.

In this contribution, the advanced aromatic polymers with excellent antiatomic oxygen (AO) performance were designed and synthesized using molecular precursor strategy and copolymerization of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS). A soluble poly(p-phenylene benzobisoxazole) (PBO) precursor, that is, TBS-PBO (tert-butyldimethylsilyl was denoted as TBS), was designed to overcome the poor solubility of PBO in organic solvents. Then the new copolymer of TBS-PBO-POSS was synthesized by the copolymerization of TBS-PBO and POSS, which possessed good solubility and film-forming ability in common organic solvents, such as N-methylpyrrolidone, N,N-dimethylacetamide, and dimethyl sulfoxide. More importantly, the TBS-PBO-POSS films exhibited outstanding antiatomic oxygen properties because of the incorporation of POSS monomers with cagelike structure into the main chain of copolymer, which drastically reduced the AO-induced erosion owing to the formation of the passivating silica layer on the surface of polymers. When the TBS-PBO-POSS films were exposed to AO effective fluences of 1.5495×10(20) atom cm(-2) (5 h) and 4.6486×10(20) atom cm(-2) (15 h), the relative mass loss was merely 0.19% and 0.41%, respectively. This work provides a new perspective and efficient strategy for the molecular design of aromatic heterocyclic polymers possessing excellent combination properties including processing convenience and antioxidative and mechanical properties, which can be employed as potential candidates to endure the aggressive environment encountered in low earth orbits.
