Abstract

A combination of FTIR and molecular simulations were used to study the H-bond interactions between polyurethane with pendent carboxyl (PUc) and poly(4-vinylpyridine) (P4VP). The pyridyl N from P4VP was found to form two types of H-bond, while the formation of type I (COOH...P4VP) bond was 95.87%, thus proving it to be the primary force for the assembly between PUc and P4VP.

Research has been conducted on the prochymosin (chymosin) that contains three disulfide bonds. The functions of one of the disulfide bonds, Cys206-Cys210, have been investigated via site-directed mutagenesis studies.
