Abstract

A novel method for calculating the ab initio polarizability of chemicals was developed in an attempt to provide an effective means of determining the dielectric constant, reflectance and energy-loss function spectra of cubic silicone carbide (SiC). The proposed method makes use of the linear combination of atomic orbitals-self consistent field method to determine the ground state properties of SiC. Although the method manifested negligible energy location discrepancies, it generated spectra equivalents which are closely related to standard measures.

Abstract

The effect of electrochemical oxidation in nitric acid on the electronic properties of epitaxial graphene (EG) grown on silicon carbide substrates is examined. The electro-oxidized channel has displayed higher values for the on-off ratio and the mobility of the graphene field-effect, which is attributed to the availability of high-quality internal graphene layers after electro-oxidation of the more defective top layers.

Abstract

The synthesis and magnetic properties of Al-doped 4H-SiC are described. The study has shown that the aluminum is a novel dopant in SiC that display two striking features, which has included ferromagnetic (FM) order and stabilizes crystal structure.

Abstract

The preparation of highly ordered mesoporous SiC materials by using two types of nanoporous silica as templates and a low viscosity liquid polymer allylhydridopolycarbosilane as a stoichiometric SiC precursor is reported. The results have shown that the ordered structures of mesoporous SiC are exact inverse of their respective silica templates, as characterized by small angle X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) images, and the adsorption-desorption isotherm of nitrogen.

Abstract

Electric-field measurements of single-molecule lines, where the chromophores are embedded in a polymeric matrix on a SiC substrate is reported. Upon fast switching of the external field, almost all chromophores showed a slow spectral creeping behavior, the time dependence of which was nonexponential in most cases.
