The authors discuss the German draft legislation on hydraulic fracturing (HF). Topics include differentiation between conventional fracking in vertical wells with small fluid and chemical volumes and multistage hydraulic fracturing in long horizontal wells with large volumes, environmental impact assessments for disposal injections, and tight gas exploitation.
