Recently, organic room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) materials, especially those with reversible responses to external stimuli, have attracted extensive attention. A dynamic regulation strategy enables the materials to rapidly respond to external stimuli, gifting varied RTP performance and greater application potential in sensitive sensing, detection, and so on. For these reasons, this Review summarizes progress in the regulation of dynamic RTP in recent years. It focuses on physical regulatory factors including light, heat, and mechanical force as well as chemical regulatory factors including water, pH, and oxygen. It is expected to be beneficial for developing smart materials with dynamic RTP in the future.

Aminocyclitol 2, a recently isolated and notable antifungal agent, was prepared from homochiral γ-hydroxycyclohexenone 4, which is itself available in six steps from l-(+)-tartaric acid (3). The well-defined rigidifying effect arising from the 1,2-diacetal protecting group associated with compound 4 and its derivatives allows for high levels of regio- and stereo-chemical control in the manipulation of the cyclitol framework. The dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) and thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) enzymes are involved in the process of tumor cell growth and survival. The 4,6-diamino-1,2-dihydro-1,3,5-triazine scaffold is well-established as a useful scaffold for DHFR inhibition, while chalcones have been reported to be inhibitors of TrxR. In this study, 15 novel compounds designed by the structural combination of the 4,6-diamino-1,2-dihydro-1,3,5-triazine and chalcone scaffolds via a diether linker were successfully synthesized and characterized. All of the compounds demonstrated dual inhibition against DHFR and TrxR when they were assessed by in vitro enzyme assays. The compounds also exhibited antiproliferative activity against the MCF-7 and HCT116 cells. The more potent analogs 14 and 15 were found to inhibit cellular DHFR and TrxR activities in HCT116 cells. Therefore, this study provided compelling evidence that 14 and 15 could exert their anticancer property via multitarget inhibition at the cellular level. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Two novel vanadogermanates [Cd(en)(H2O)2][Cd(en)2][Cd(en)]{[Cd(en)]2[Ge8V12O42.5(OH)5]}·2H2O (1) and [Cd(en)3][Cd(en)]2{[Cd(en)]2[Ge8V12O42(OH)6]}·10H2O (2, en = ethylenediamine) have been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffractions, thermogravimetric analysis, UV-vis spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffractions. Structural analysis reveals that the Ge-V-O cluster anions in the two compounds are derived from the classical saturated {V18O42} cluster by replacing four VO5 square pyramids with four Ge2O7 groups. Especially, the Ge-V-O cluster anion in 2 is a new configuration of Ge-V-O clusters with four Ge2O7 groups and first reported in this work. 1 is the first 1-dimensional (1-D) chain based on the linkage of centrosymmetric dimeric clusters {[Cd(en)]2[Ge8V12O42.5(OH)5]}212- and trinuclearity [Cd3O4(en)4(H2O)2]2- complexes. 2 is an unprecedented 2-D network built from unique {[Cd(en)]2[Ge8V12O42(OH)6]}8- clusters and 1-D coordination chains {Cd3O2(en)5}2+. Subjection of the resorcylic ester 16 to a Nozaki-Hiyama-Kishi reaction afforded the 12-membered lactone 17, while treatment of it under the Loh-type α-allylation conditions using indium metal gave the isomeric, 14-membered macrolide 18. Process analysis is a great challenge in industry due to the complexity of industrial production. In the present work, an approach was developed based on online near-infrared spectroscopy and alternating trilinear decomposition (ATLD) method for industrial process analysis. The basic idea of the approach is to extract the common information that represents the common property of the batches using ATLD. Using common information, the production process can be monitored by investigating the variation of the common property, and quality assurance can be achieved by discrimination analysis. Taking the tobacco production as an example, the results show that the method is able to capture the intrinsic information of the products and performs well in process analysis and quality assurance. Iron depletion, using iron chelators targeting transferrin receptor (TfR) and ribonucleotide reductase (RR), is proven to be effective in the treatment of cancer. We synthesized and evaluated novel polyaminocarboxylate-based chelators NETA, NE3TA, and NE3TA-Bn and their bifunctional versions C-NETA, C-NE3TA, and N-NE3TA for use in iron depletion tumor therapy. The cytotoxic activities of the novel polyaminocarboxylates were evaluated in the HeLa and HT29 colon cancer cell lines and compared to the clinically available iron depletion agent DFO and the frequently explored polyaminocarboxylate DTPA. All new chelators except C-NETA displayed enhanced cytotoxicities in both HeLa and HT29 cancer cells compared to DFO and DTPA. Incorporation of the nitro functional unit for conjugation to a targeting moiety into the two potent non-functionalized chelators NE3TA and NE3TA-Bn (C-NE3TA and N-NE3TA) was well-tolerated and resulted in a minimal decrease in cytotoxicity. Cellular uptake of C-NE3TA, examined using a confocal microscope, indicates that the chelator is taken up into HT29 cancer cells. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An antibody-targeted radiation therapy (radioimmunotherapy, RIT) employs a bifunctional ligand that can effectively hold a cytotoxic metal with clinically acceptable complexation kinetics and stability while being attached to a tumor-specific antibody. Clinical exploration of the therapeutic potential of RIT has been challenged by the absence of adequate ligand, a critical component for enhancing the efficacy of the cancer therapy. To address this deficiency, the bifunctional ligand C-NETA in a unique structural class possessing both a macrocyclic cavity and a flexible acyclic moiety was designed. The practical, reproducible, and readily scalable synthetic route to C-NETA was developed, and its potential as the chelator of 212Bi, 213Bi, and 177Lu for RIT was evaluated in vitro and in vivo. C-NETA rapidly binds both Lu(III) and Bi(III), and the respective metal complexes remain extremely stable in serum for 14 days. 177Lu −C-NETA and 205/6Bi −C-NETA possess an excellent or acceptable in vivo biodistribution profile.
