Abstract

A total synthesis of glycinoeclepin A, a natural hatching s timulus for the soybean cyst nematode, is described. The synthesis involves 32 steps and the overall yield is 0.4% from (5) - (-) -carvone. The hatch-stimulatin g activity of the synthetic sample was found to be indistinguishabl e from that of the natural sample.
