An efficient base-promoted tandem reaction between vinyl 1,1-dichlorides and secondary sulfonamides with ynamide as the key intermediate is described. This method provides a facile approach to (Z)-1,2-endiamide and aryl 1,1-endiamide derivatives via the β-hydroamidation of terminal ynamides and the α-hydroamidation of internal ynamides, respectively. This reaction proceeded through double elimination of vinyl chlorides and double addition of nucleophiles to alkynes. In addition, it features readily available starting materials, mild reaction conditions, a broad substrate scope, a wide functional group tolerance, and an operational convenience.

The first palladium-catalyzed Hiyama cross-coupling of arylsilanes with benzyltrimethylammonium salts is reported. The reaction proceeds smoothly to facilitate C(sp2)-C(sp3) bond formation via cleavage of the C-N bond and provides a useful approach to various diarylmethanes with a broad substrate scope and excellent functional group tolerance in good to excellent yields.

An efficient intermolecular trans-selective β-hydroamidation of ynamides to furnish a series of ( Z)-ethene-1,2-diamide derivatives with excellent regio- and stereo-selectivities is described. The trans-β-addition reactions have been illustrated for a wide range of substrates and proceeded under basic reaction conditions using readily available materials in the absence of a transition-metal catalyst. The synthetic approach to these novel ( Z)-ethene-1,2-diamide derivatives paves the way for further exploration of their synthetic application.

A highly efficient palladium-catalyzed oxidative cross-coupling of arylhydrazines and arenethiols with molecular oxygen as the sole oxidant to afford unsymmetrical diaryl sulfides has been developed. The only byproducts are nitrogen and water. A broad range of functional groups, even the reactive iodides, are tolerated and thus offer the opportunity for further functionalization.

A palladium-catalyzed oxidative carbonylation of arylhydrazines and alkynes with balloon pressure CO/O2 to afford trisubstituted pyrazoles in a one-pot manner has been developed. The formation of trisubstituted pyrazoles involves a sequential C–N bond cleavage, carbonylation, Sonogashira coupling, Michael addition, and intramolecular condensation cyclization tandem process. An unprecedented oxidative Sonogashira-carbonylation reaction of arylhydrazine plays a key role for such a facile approach to pyrazoles.

An efficient procedure for the preparation of allylic trifluoromethanesulfones with high regioselectivity from aromatic allylic alcohols/esters and NaSO2CF3 under transition-metal-free conditions is described. A wide range of functional groups were tolerated. This is the first example to realize different types of allylic alcohols, including primary, secondary, and tertiary allylic alcohols, all of which transferred to the corresponding products efficiently in good to excellent yields with readily available and inexpensive NaSO2CF3. The synthetic utility of the method was demonstrated by performing the reaction at gram scale.

Herein, an amide oxygen-assisted palladium-catalyzed hydration reaction of alkynes is realized to prepare a series of o-acylacetanilide derivatives with high yield, and single regioselectivity under mild reaction conditions. This transformation is simple, practical, and can be performed on a gram scale. Evaluation of the mechanism shows that the reaction should involve an oxypalladation process, and the 1,3-oxazine compound is proven to be a key intermediate.

An efficient and ecofriendly method for the construction of 2,3-difunctionalized benzofuran derivatives in moderate to good yields from readily available 2-alkynylphenols has been developed. This tandem annulation process, featuring one pot, three steps, good functional group tolerance, and high atom economy, makes this transformation efficient and practical. Moreover, this protocol is scalable, illustrating its potential applications in synthetic and pharmaceutical chemistry.

A novel chloropalladation-initiated intermolecular oxyvinylcyclization of alkenes with alkynoic acids or alkynols is developed. This protocol provides a series of 3-methylene γ-lactone and tetrahydrofuran derivatives in moderate to excellent yields with high stereoselectivities in the presence of PdCl2 and CuCl2 or CuCl2·2H2O. Besides a broad substrate scope, this method has the advantages of mild reaction conditions and easily accessible starting materials. Furthermore, the construction of C-Cl, C(sp(2))-C(sp(3)), and C-O bonds in one step was also achieved in this transformation.

Iridium-catalyzed asymmetric ring-opening reactions of N-Boc-azabenzonorbornadiene with a number of secondary amines has been developed for the first time. The reaction gave 1,2-trans-diamine derivatives in moderate to good yields with high enantioselectivity in the presence of 2.5 mol % of [Ir(COD)Cl]2 and 5 mol % of (S)-BINAP. The trans-configuration of the 1,2-diamino products was confirmed by X-ray crystallography.
