The author reflects on the concepts of interactive physiology in clinical studies in the U.S. He found out that determining the best ways of visualizing concepts may expose gaps in understanding and help elucidate areas that are not spelled out in literature. He considers this true in some difficult concepts relevant to the case discussion on pleural effusions. He notes that the use of pleural manometry and the measurement of its elastance are areas where literature tends to be inconsistent.
