Climate change has become an important issue since 196 countries in the world agreed to sign the Paris Agreement at COP21 in 2015. This is an important issue because Climate change has a wider impact in the long term such as rising air temperatures, increasing volume of sea water, extreme and unpredictable weather changes, shifting populations and wildlife habitats and affecting human health. One of the causes of climate change is air pollution produced by burning conventional vehicles or we can call Internal Combustion Engine (ICE). For this reason, various countries in the world are innovating by converting fossil-based vehicles into electric vehicles with the main raw material being batteries. As a result, several countries in the world such as Japan, Brazil, Germany, France and Sweden have succeeded in reducing their emission levels in the 2015-2018 period by starting to develop electric vehicles. This paper was conducted through literature study and in-depth analysis using qualitative research methods. This paper aims to analyze whether the transformation from an internal combustion engine-based vehicle to an electric vehicle is able to reduce the level of emissions in a country in order to overcome the problem of climate change. Currently with existing environmental prohibitions and growing interest in the creation of low-temperature refrigeration machines operating with carbon dioxide in two-stage and cascade schemes, the proposed paper supplements the scientific literature on the rationale for the use of each of them. In general, Reinforced Concrete structures exposed to much vulnerable climate leads to corrosion of the steel reinforcement, which results the huge loss of durability, serviceability. Carbonation or chlorides are the reasons of corrosion in reinforcement of steel. Carbonation is the reaction of carbon dioxide in the air with calcium in the concrete. Hence, Fibre Reinforced Polymer rebars which is resistant to corrosion can be replaced with steel reinforcement. So, from the past decade, many researchers are studying the usage of FRP rebars as they are anti-corrosive, high tensile strength, non-magnetic, lightweight, high temperature resistant, low maintenance, and durable. The FRP rebar has the disadvantage of possessing the low ductility and it is not able to bend in required shape. Hence, the hybrid reinforcement is introduced in the concrete structures to enhance the ductility and corrosion requirements. The world currently relies heavily on non-renewable energy, which is unable to sustain the needs of 7 billion people in the next 50 years. This paper discusses the use of an alternative fuel, Dimethyl ether (DME), which is a sustainable option. The proposed project can be used as a case study for the future development sustainable energy sector in Malaysia. The economic study aspect as well as the technological aspect of this future development is discussed and is the main focus of this project. A Hysys model is built to replicate the proposed system. The project caters to the front tier of sustainable wind energy and the empty fruit bunch (EFB), which is one of the main products in powering the DME plant. Malaysia is rich in both products, thus, they will help to boost the local economy even further. The proposed plant indicated via the intensive economic study, proves that it will be able to generate a steady income of almost 5% yearly within the next 20 years. Automobiles throughout the world are the essential shoppers of non-renewable energy sources, which radiate harmful gases when consumed; including HC, CO and NOx. Coal is a fuel source that is relatively inexpensive to produce and convert to usable energy. However, the extraction and use of coal affects the environment. The primary emissions from coal combustion are sulfur dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon dioxide (CO2). Over the recent years much attention has been paid to designing of technologies for the production and combustion of coal-water fuel (CWF). This paper presents the results of improving the environmental characteristics of the CWF based on the experiments with Kansk-Achinsk brown coal and distilled water during hydrodynamic cavitation activation of the dispersion phase, microwave processing of the dispersed phase, and the addition of T-900 globular nanocarbon. All the technologies used in the experiment allow to further reduce the amount of anthropogenic gas emissions during the CWF combustion in reference to coal. The most important significant factor in keeping the earth hot is the greenhouse effect. Nitrous oxide concentrations in the environment have been gradually rising over the last century, with nitrogen (N) fertilizers and manures added to agricultural soils becoming the primary anthropogenic source. Here a global inventory is presented that incorporates both anthropogenic and natural sources of emissions and processes that can control nitrous oxide emissions. The paper mainly focusses on the Life cycle assessment of Hydrogen produced by electrolysis process, the paper includes the properties of Hydrogen and its major production methods and electrolysis was considered to be best in terms of carbon dioxide equivalents. HTGR is an advanced gas reactor that utilized high temperature and high pressure. This paper investigated five different working gas in four Brayton cycle configurations in HTGR 10MWth. Thermodynamic analysis using gas-cold standard assumption were applied to measure the efficiencies. This paper also considered temperature interaction in heat exchangers and capability turbine to drive compressor. Particular gas would be suitable for particular pressure ratio and diagram. 1T2C diagram with pressure ratio 9 and carbon dioxide as the working gas were able to reach optimum thermal efficiency, were about 52 %. Carbon dioxide is a strategic gas in many industrial processes. Large amounts of carbon dioxide are emitted into the atmosphere leading to global environmental problems. It is a product of combustion and a greenhouse gas; capturing it for reuse is a major problem facing our society today. One way to recover carbon dioxide is to use an adsorption process. Zeolites are a potential material for the selective adsorption and separation of carbon dioxide. Zeolites are of great interest because of their ability to change their properties, both textural and chemical, which ultimately affect the adsorption properties of zeolites. This paper presents the results of a study of isotherms and basic thermodynamic characteristics of carbon dioxide adsorption on zeolites like ZSM-5. Untimely death from natural disasters is painful but death due to untimely rescue missions from collapsed buildings is more painful. In most earthquake-flood prone areas a number of people die within the collapsed building trapped and undetected. The reasons owe to the unorganized rescue missions, etc. This paper studies an innovation in this field. The idea proposes the creation of a new device as an optimal solution for identifying the location of the person trapped inside building. The proposed device senses the volatile organic compounds that are present in the air from the building, that are produced due to interactions of staphylococcus like bacteria in human sweat (eg : 3methyl 2 hexanoic acid, octenol )[1]. The highly sensitive electronic nose senses the volatile organic components in air . The method of operation is as follows. First we collect air from various locations of the collapsed building. The collected air is feed into the device which senses the volatile organic components content in it. In addition to it, the device has a NDIR Carbon dioxide sensor which also senses the Carbon dioxide concentration in it. The following conclusion can be made from it: More the value of VOCs and carbon dioxide shows the presence of the human and also their approximate location as we are testing air from different positions in the buildings(The test is highly fast such that it does not cause any lag in the rescue mission). In addition to it these data will also help us to determine the obstacle-free path as air in the building chooses the shortest path to escape. Thus using these data collected the exact location of the trapped person can be located and the rescue missions can be organized. Thus the proposed idea is expected to more efficient than the existing rescue operation techniques and save more valuable human lives.This system can be also used in security applications for surveillance. In China, the implementation of green certificate and carbon trading mechanism has a significant impact on power planning with renewable energy. In order to explore the impact of specific trading processes of green certificate trading and carbon trading on generation side, this paper successively establishes green certificate trading process model and carbon trading process model considering carbon offset mechanism, and organically connects them with carbon dioxide emission coefficient. In the traditional power planning model, the objective function and constraints of green certificate and carbon trading are introduced to construct green certificate and carbon trading process. The power planning model under this model is solved by a practical example in a certain place. The results show that introducing carbon trading and green certificate trading into the traditional power planning can improve the installed capacity of renewable energy and the overall revenue of the system, so that the renewable energy can be quickly generated, which makes the power generation enterprises more interested in introducing carbon trading and green certificate trading into their planning, so as to achieve profits. The paper presents the test results of measurement into thermal comfort in the smart building "Energis" of Kielce University of Technology. The goal of the study was to assess the comfort level in the selected building and indicate problems related to the indoor environment. Three separate lecture rooms were analysed with regard to how students felt in the indoor conditions using questionnaires that they filled in. At the same time physical parameters of air such as temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide level and etc. were measured. The results are the basis for discussion on the human perception of indoor air in the considered smart building. It has been observed that even smart buildings do not offer a high level of comfort and the thermal conditions were not fine for all the people (quite many felt too warm or cold). The overall recommendation is that building managers should conduct such questionnaire tests at certain time intervals of at least a few months to obtain data that they can use to set indoor air parameters (temperature, humidity). Fanger model determines thermal comfort generally, which originates from the 60s. Its accuracy can be considered disputable, and it is often challenging. However, it is the basis for today's international standards - namely ISO 7730 and ASHRAE-55 (US standard). The present paper aims to develop a modified correlation based on the experimental measurements done using questionnaires and a microclimate meter Testo 400. The original model changes so that the concentration of carbon dioxide is considered (the original model does not consider it at all). The experimental results agree with the modified correlation in the wide range of CO2 levels. The system is in such a way that it is versatile enough to all types of environments. IOT based Fire Accident Detection System uses the Sensors, namely, Temperature, Smoke and the Digital Humidity sensor. The micro-controller is programmed to turn on the alert, when any one of the temperature, smoke and humidity reach a threshold value in the air. We are trying to implement Machine learning enabled IoT technology to detect the Fire Accidents. In this system we go for detection and Monitoring of fires through several sensors and send to IoT cloud. Machine learning provides ability to learn and improve from experiences automatically thus provide accurate results. So it can avoid false alarming for the Indian daily events like smoke from incense sticks. The paper presents the results of pinewood sawdust pellets gasification in atmosphere of carbon dioxide and steam at pressure varied in range 1-5 bar. The initial sawdust was dried at atmospheric air and pressurized into cylindrical pellets by cold pressing method. The dependences of sample mass on time at different temperatures and pressures were obtained as well as apparent kinetic parameters of heterogeneous gasification reactions in isothermal conditions. The activation energy and frequency factor for carbon dioxide was found to decrease with pressure from 108.6 kJ/mole at 1 bar to 83.1 kJ/mole at 5 bar. This could indicate non-zero order of reaction by gaseous reactant and more developed porous structure of char formed at high pressure. Opposite results were obtained for steam – activation energy was found to increase with pressure from 32.4 kJ/mole at 1 bar to 49.0 kJ/mole at 5 bar. In this paper, laser weldability of neutral polypropylene has been investigated using fibre and carbon dioxide lasers. A design of experiment (DoE) was conducted in order to establish the influence of the main working parameters on the welding strength of the two types of laser. The welded samples were characterized by carrying out visual and microscopic inspection for the welding morphology and cross-section, and by distinguishing the tensile strength. The resulting weld quality was investigated by means of optical microscopy at weld cross-sections. In this paper, the influence of non-equilibrium CO2 kinetics on gas dynamic parameters and transport properties in a viscous shock layer near blunt bodies is studied. This problem is important for accurate prediction of macroscopic parameters and heat transfer near a space vehicle re-entering the Mars atmosphere. The hypersonic flow of reacting CO2/CO/O2/C/O mixture is studied numerically using the accurate kinetic theory models for transport properties and chemical reaction rates proposed in our previous papers on the basis of three-temperature vibrational distributions. The kinetic theory algorithms were implemented directly to the computational fluid dynamics solvers. The transport properties and gas dynamic parameters in 2-D viscous shock layer near blunt bodies of different shape are studied for various test cases under Mars re-entry conditions. The influence of non-equilibrium effects on gas flow parameters and heat transfer is discussed; a quite different structure of a shock layer is found for various body shapes. In this paper, non-equilibrium kinetics and transport processes in a viscous hypersonic flow of reacting CO2/CO/O2/C/O mixture are studied on the basis of the kinetic theory methods. Vibrational excitation of CO2, CO and O2 molecules as well as non-equilibrium dissociation, recombination and exchange reactions are taken into account and the influence of non-equilibrium kinetics on transport properties is studied. A five-temperature model for a non-equilibrium flow suitable for applications is derived from the kinetic theory and used for the evaluation of transport properties of considered mixture under re-entry conditions. This paper presents the results of a data collection effort, allowing to assess the overall environmental impact of the air bending process using the CO2PE!-Methodology. First the different modes of the air bending process are investigated, including both productive and non-productive modes. In particular consumption of electric power is recorded for the different modes. Subsequently, time studies allow determining the importance of productive and nonproductive modes of the involved process. The study demonstrates that the influence of standby losses can be substantial. In addition to life cycle analysis, in depth process analysis also provides insight in achievable environmental impact reducing measures towards machine tool builders and eco-design recommendations for product developers. In this paper, a two-step process for converting carbon dioxide into methanol was established, consisting of conversion of carbon dioxide into formic acid and formic acid into methanol by hydrothermal treatment. For our previous studies has investigated the reduction of carbon dioxide to formic acid under hydrothermal conditions, the focus of this paper was set on the reduction of formic acid into methanol. The synthesis of methanol was examined by varying the following parameters: amount of Cu as catalyst, pH of the reagent, amount of Zn as reductant, reaction time and so on. The highest yield of 27.8% was achieved. The results indicated that Zn or Al was able to reduce formic acid to methanol more efficiently than other metal reductants. This paper discusses the results of research on the relationship between the dynamic properties of a power source and the characteristics of heat and mass transfer during arc welding in a CO2 with electrode metal transfer at intervals short circuits of arc gap. It is established that electronic control of the dynamic characteristic of the power supply, which characterizes the rate of change of instantaneous current values in a welding circuit, determines not only quantitative indicators of heat and mass transfer, but also contributes to increasing stability and reducing heat input to the treated surface. A non-critical point drying method of carbon aerogel synthesis using high temperature sol-gel process of resorcinol and furfuraldehyde (R-F) in isopropyl alcohol medium is reported in this paper. The R-F gelation was performed at a temperature of ∼130°C, which is much above the routine gelation temperatures followed by drying under ambient conditions and pyrolysis. Further activation of the aerogel under CO2 atmosphere at 920°C resulted in significant enhancement in its surface area and prominently mesopore dominated carbon aerogel was obtained. The carbon aerogel (CA) was evaluated to have specific surface area 698 m2/g with high mesopore area of 425 m2/g. The surface area properties of the CA prepared by the modified method compare well with the CA by critical point drying technique which is cumbersome, expensive and time consuming. XRD studies showed graphitic nature of this CA which was supported by SEM imaging displaying layered morphology. The high electrical conductivity of 190 S/m obtained for this CA is attributed to its graphitic layered structure. The enhanced conductivity and high mesoporosity makes this CA variant a good alternative as base matrix for catalyst and electrochemical applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

New measurements of relative line strengths of fine structure components of the OI multiplet 3p5P—3d5D ° from the infrared part of the spectrum are reported. As the excitation medium the helium arc plasma with some admixture of carbon dioxide was used. The plasma parameters (electron density and temperature) provide advantageous conditions for accurate OI line intensity measurements (high line to continuum intensity ratios). Also the applied spectroscopic instrumentation allows measurements with good spectral resolution to be performed. Our measured results are compared with the data of a recent experimental paper and with a number of recent sophisticated calculations. The future of automobile internal combustion (IC) engine facing twin challenges due to emission norms and improving engine performance. Hence it is very important to identify some technique to reduce the emission level and also to improve the engine performance. Catalytic coating is one of the most suitable techniques for reduction of pollution level and increase the engine efficiency. In this paper, the investigations carried out in the single cylinder catalytic coated four stroke spark ignition (SI) engine is discussed in detail. The engine combustion chamber and piston crown were coated by copper (catalyst). The performance of catalytic coated engine various parameters such as torque, brake power at different engine speed conditions measured by using two wheeler chassis dynamometer. In this investigation the comparative study also were carried out for copper coated engine with conventional (Un-coated) SI engine and the results showed that copper coated engine has significant reduction of the carbon monoxide (CO), Hydrocarbon (HC), and Carbon dioxide (CO2) level compare to conventional engine (uncoated) emission levels. Two of the fundamental problems facing the development of a Portable Life Support System (PLSS) for use on Mars, are (i) heat rejection (because traditional technologies use sublimation of water, which wastes a scarce resource and contaminates the premises), and (ii) rejection of CO2 in an environment with a ppCO2 of 0.4–0.9 kPa. This paper presents a conceptual system for CO2 collection, compression, and cooling to produce sub-critical (liquid) CO2. A first order estimate of the system mass and energy to condense and store liquid CO2 outside at Mars ambient temperature at 600 kPa is discussed. No serious technical hurdles were identified and it is likely that better overall performance would be achieved if the system were part of an integrated ISRU strategy rather than a standalone system. Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions has become an increasing concern due to the impact of greenhouse gasses on global warming and also climate change, therefore many studies are forms to develop efficient technology to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions. Many solid materials have been investigated for CO2 capture including carbon based such as coal bottom ash. Coal Bottom Ash (CBA) is a by-product of pulverized coal-fired power generation. Among various post combustion CO2 capture technology, amine impregnated with coal bottom ash has potential for CO2 adsorption. The impregnation process increased the surface area on coal bottom ash particles significantly but on the other hand enhanced the adsorption capacity of coal bottom ash in the CO2 capture. The purpose of this paper is to review the preparation and the performance evaluation of amine impregnated coal bottom ash for CO2 adsorption. From the literature survey, the findings show that coal bottom ash impregnated with amine especially Tetraethylpentamine (TEPA) is the best way to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and utilize the waste as useful adsorbent. This review is highly useful for the application in a bigger industrial scale since most of carbon dioxide emission are the results from anthropogenic sources. A strong correlation between economic growth, energy consumption and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions has made the increasing level of CO2 emissions becomes a perpetual problem worldwide. Therefore, the efficacy of current energy and environment related policies needs to be evaluated. In this regard, finding a reliable model to accurately forecast CO2 emissions is of importance, particularly for a developing country like Indonesia. By involving an unbalanced panel data of 77 countries covering the period of 1966 to 2019, this paper proposes a model which relies on the machine learning method to forecast CO2 emissions in Indonesia and to predict the feasibility for decoupling CO2 emissions from economic growth. This study finds the beneficial impacts of new and renewable energy on reducing CO2 emissions. However, the peak of CO2 emissions in Indonesia was not predicted. This paper presents an experimental study of the synthesis of carbon dioxide gas hydrate by a method based on the explosive boiling up of a liquefied hydrate-forming gas in a volume of water during decompression. The experimental method is described and the ways of the process intensification are reflected. The effect of gas consumption during decompression on the synthesis of gas hydrate is shown.
