Students' conception towards Archimedes principle on the object in a fluid is still miscellaneous. Students' conception has an important role in their learning process and it also can improve their skills. This research is intended to investigate students' conception of Archimedes principle on the object in the fluid. The method that has been applied in this research is a descriptive quantitative with three reasoned multiple-choice test instruments based on the static fluid concept. This research was conducted on 101 students in Excellent Al- Yasini High School, Pasuruan and Kepanjen 1 Senior High School, Malang. The quantitative data in this study are based on students' answers. Comparatively, the qualitative data are obtained by students' interviews. The results show that there are miscommunications in the previous lesson; therefore, the students' ability to associate between concepts is subdued. Thus, students' conception of the buoyant force on an object is that the object is getting closer to the surface of the fluid or getting up, it has a greater lift force. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
