Indonesia has a variety of protein source feed ingredients that can be used as protein source feed ingredients, or as a natural feed additive to suppress bacterial growth and increase feed efficiency. The combination of maggot of Black Soldier Fly (BSF), Indigofera (Indigofera zollingeriana), and turmeric have the potential to replace fish meal in the chicken's feed. Therefore this study aimed to determine the native chickens' performance fed the combination of protein sources (maggot and Indigofera) and turmeric flour. This study was conducted based on a completely randomized design (CRD) with a 3x2 factorial pattern and 4 replications, each replication consisted of 4 chickens. The first factor was a combination of feed ingredients MF (maggot flour), ILF (Indigofera leaf flour), and TF (turmeric flour). The second factor is the type of chicken used, namely Kalosi chicken and Kalosi chicken treated in ovo feeding. During the experimental period, Kalosi chicken groups fed maggot flour and Indigofera as protein sources combined with turmeric flour could maintain their performance in a similar pattern with other groups which fed commercial ration (control). This study implied that local feed ingredients such as maggot, and Indigofera could be considered as potential feedstuff replacing fish meal as a protein source in the native chicken ration. This research aims to determine the antibacterial activity test of the combination of larvae Black Soldier Fly (BSF), turmeric, and Indigofera zollingeriana against bacteria Escherichia coli and Salmonella pullorum. This research was conducted based on a completely randomized design consisting of 6 treatments and 3 replications so that the total experiment was 18 units. Treatment P0 (positive control, 50 µg chloramphenicol), P1 (2.5% Turmeric + 5% Indigofera zollingeriana + 25% BSF), P2 (2.5% Turmeric + 10% Indigofera zollingeriana + 20% BSF), P3 (2.5% Turmeric + 15% Indigofera zollingeriana + 15% BSF), P4 (2.5% Turmeric + 20% Indigofera zollingeriana + 10% BSF), P5 (2.5% Turmeric + 25% Indigofera zollingeriana + 5% BSF). The parameter measured was the inhibition zone in bacteria Escherichia coli and Salmonella pullorum. The results showed that the treatment had a significant effect (P <0.05) on the bacterial inhibition zone Escherichia coli and Salmonella pullorum of 12.8 mm ±2.72 and 13.46 mm ±1.64. The results of the orthogonal polynominal test show that the effect of using a combination of BSF larvae, turmeric, and Indigofera zollingeriana obtained in treatment P1 (2.5% Turmeric + 5% Indigofera zollingeriana + 25% BSF) by 96.62% in bacteria Escherichia coli and 85.74% in bacteria Salmonella pullorum. That conclusion larvae Black Soldier Fly (BSF), turmeric, and Indigofera zollingeriana can inhibit bacterial growth Escherichia coli and Salmonella pullorum. Treatment P1 (Turmeric 2.5% + Indigofera zollingeriana 5% + BSF 25%) can be used as a feed additive with the same antibacterial activity as chloramphenicol 50µg. This study aims to determine the effect of supplemented by L-Arginine in ration and Treated by L-Arginine in-ovo injection on the hatching performance of native chickens. This study used 60 fertile eggs obtained from hens supplemented by 0% L-Arginine in ration and 60 fertile eggs obtained from hens supplemented by 0.25% L-Arginine in ration. Eggs are arranged by Randomized Block Design with 4 treatments and 3 groups. The treatment consists of P0 (Control=Ration+0% L-Arginine and no L-Arginine injection), P1 (Ration+0% L-Arginine and 2% L-Arginine injection), P2 (Ration+0.25% and without L-Arginine injection), and P3 (Ration+0.25% and injection 2% L-Arginine). The results showed that supplemented by L-Arginine in ration and Treated by L-Arginine in-ovo injection no significant (P>0.05) on the hatching performance of native chickens. We conclude that supplemented by L-Arginine in ration and Treated by L-Arginine in-ovo injection no significant on hatching performance of native chickens although there is a tendency that supplemented of the L-Arginine in ration and Treated by L-Arginine in-ovo injection shows a better trend. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the supplementation of the different levels of carrot juice on the performance of the Indonesian native breeder hens. A total of 60 native breeder chickens (48 hens and 12 roosters) aged 60 weeks old, were raised in a 1 x 2 m concrete floor pen with wood shaving as bedding materials (male: female ratio; 1:4) for 7 weeks. All chickens were randomly assigned into four groups of carrot juice levels in drinking water treatments according to a completely randomized design, three replicates each. The carrot juice was dissolved in 80 mL of plain water and served as drinking water for chickens with different levels i.e., 0, 30, 50, 70 mL. The hens' performance parameters were expressed in feed and water intake, egg production, egg mass, and feed conversion ratio during the experimental period. Although there were no differences in all parameters values observed among the experimental groups during the study, the breeder hens in the 70 mL supplementation group showed a tendency of a better value of egg production, egg mass, and feed conversion ratio compared to the other groups. Taking into consideration the fact that the native breeder hens used in the current study were in the late period of laying production, maintaining egg production up to 47% in the supplementation group hens showed a positive measure for the breeding or selection scheme. The antioxidant properties of carrot juice might be responsible for this improvement. Therefore, the inclusion of carrot juice as a natural antioxidant could help the older breeder hens of native chicken to maintain their performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The use of antibiotics as feed additives is still limited to livestock because of their residue content, therefore many studies have been conducted to find alternative materials to replace antibiotics as prebiotics, such as dahlia root powder. This study aims to examine the effect of dahlia tuber flour as a prebiotic source of broiler feed. This research was conducted based on a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications (8 broilers per unit). The treatments consisted of P0 = basal feed without the addition of dahlia root powder (control), P1 = basal feed+0.8% dahlia root powder, P2 = basal feed+1% dahlia root powder, P3 = basal feed +1.2% dahlia root powder. The parameter observed was the final body weight, feed consumption and feed conversion. The results showed that prebiotics from dahlia root powder had a significant effect (P<0.05). The addition at the level of 1.2% increased the final body weight by (1125.4 g/head) with feed conversion (1.26) while for feed consumption (1370.9 g/head) although it had no significant effect, it was lower than without supply of dahlia root powder. The conclusion of this study was Dahlia root powder can be used as a prebiotic in broiler feed because it can improve feed conversion which is characterized by an increase in final body weight.
