Basic need for the development of the world is energy. The demand for energy is on the increase all over the world, continuous consumption of fuels is increased and the depletion of fossil fuels such as petroleum, diesel, etc., have caused the interest of researchers to focus on producing an alternative fuel that can be able to replace scarcity of depleting fossil fuels. The goal of this study is to compile previous research and highlight areas where the use of bio fuels can be expanded. This research examines the performance and combustion characteristics of a CI engine running on various cooking oils and mixes in order to establish the best biodiesel blend for a typical CI engine. This review will aid researchers in identifying the suitable biodiesel fuel to obtain higher efficiency of a CI engine and also for see the potential problems arising with the use of these biodiesel fuels.
