The article discusses the Canadian Library Association's (CLA's) open access advocacy in Canada. It mentions that CLA encourages Canadian libraries to support policies requiring open access to research supported by Canadian public funding, raise awareness of library users about open access, support the development of open access in all its varieties, and encourage authors to retain their copyright. Among Canada's research funding agencies include the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC). The article also discusses Canadian university libraries' program called Synergies.
