Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials are important and mysterious objects in representation theory. Here we present a new formula for their computation for symmetric groups based on the Bruhat graph. Our approach suggests a solution to the combinatorial invariance conjecture for symmetric groups, a well-known conjecture formulated by Lusztig and Dyer in the 1980s. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The monoidal category of Soergel bimodules is an incarnation of the Hecke category, a fundamental object in representation theory. We present this category by generators and relations, using the language of planar diagrammatics. We show that Libedinsky's light leaves give a basis for morphism spaces and give a new proof and a generalization of Soergel's classification of the indecomposable Soergel bimodules. The article discusses the mathematical concept of parity sheaves. Topics highlighted include a definition of parity sheaves and its properties, the works of mathematicians Mark de Cataldo and Luca Migliorini on their abstract proof of the mathematical theory of decomposition and the three varieties of parity sheaves. Also presented are examples of a highest weight category of perverse sheaves.

We give a counterexample to the most optimistic analogue (due to Kleshchev and Ram) of the James conjecture for Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras associated to simply-laced Dynkin diagrams. The first counterexample occurs in type A5 for p = 2 and involves the same singularity used by Kashiwara and Saito to show the reducibility of the characteristic variety of an intersection cohomology D-module on a quiver variety.
