Abstract

The article discusses a study which investigated the extent of exclusion of elderly patients from ongoing clinical studies about heart failure. It explains the rationale utilized in clinical trials for classifying exclusion criteria as justified or poorly justified. The characteristics of ongoing clinical trials on heart failure are cited. It also details other criteria for exclusion which can also limit the participation of elderly people.
