Abstract

The article reports on the case of varicella disease in a girl of Minnesota who was admitted to a hospital because of fever and an extensive maculopapulovesicular rash on mouth and throat. It is informed that varicella is a self-limited disease and can result in complications like encephalitis, pneumonia and sepsis among immunocompromised persons. It is suggested that clinicians should remain vigilant for preventing varicella through vaccination and administration of passive immunoprophylaxis.
