In this paper, we report a technique for creating broadband unidirectional electromagnetic radiation with a grounded nonmagnetic anisotropic zero-index metamaterial coating. We demonstrate that the leaky modes supported by the finite sized coating structure can be exploited to create a unidirectional radiation device with a subwavelength thickness of only 0.12λ.Numerical simulations and experimental characterization of the metamaterial-enabled radiator confirm the physical mechanisms governing its performance, showing a stable directive beam with an over fivefold radiation power enhancement at broadside. Due to the resulting nonmagnetic material properties, this approach provides a new path to highly efficient, small footprint, low profile, and broadband directive radiation devices for microwave and potentially even optical wavelength applications. The emerging field of transformation optics, with its powerful ability to manipulate and control electromagnetic waves, represents a promising new approach to tailor the radiation properties of antennas. However, previously reported source transformation designs have been severely limited by their narrow operating bandwidth, as well as the number and directions of radiated beams. In this paper, we design, fabricate, and characterize a new type of broadband transformation optics lens capable of converting the radiation from an embedded isotropic source into any desired number of highly directive beams pointing in arbitrary directions. We exploit the dispersive properties of the metamaterial building blocks to greatly enhance the impedance bandwidth of the embedded antenna. Moreover, the simple material parameters required by the demonstrated transformation make it amenable to the development of practical beam collimating devices that operate in both the microwave and the optical regimes. We show that, by using a saturable gain g_{sat}, generalized PT (GPT) symmetry can be achieved in the intrinsically unbalanced (non-PT-symmetric) high-order wireless power transfer systems. A topology decomposition approach is implemented to analyze the parity of the high-order wireless power transfer systems. In the coupling parametric space, a global GPT-symmetric eigenstate is observed along with the spontaneous phase transition of the local GPT-symmetric eigenstates on the exceptional contour. GPT symmetry guarantees a highly efficient and stable power transfer across the distinct coupling regions, which introduces a new paradigm for a broad range of application scenarios involving asymmetric coupling.

We study the dispersion and scattering properties of electromagnetic modes coupled to a helically ordered spin lattice hosted by a dielectric oxide with a ferroelectric polarization driven by vector spin chirality. Quasianalytical approaches and full-fledged numerics evidence the formation of a chiral magnonic photonic band gap and the presence of gate-voltage dependent circular dichroism in the scattering of electromagnetic waves from the lattice. Gating couples to the emergent ferroelectric polarization and hence, to the underlying vector-spin chirality. The theory relies on solving simultaneously Maxwell's equations coupled to the driven localized spins taking into account their spatial topology and spatial anisotropic interactions. The developed approach is applicable to various settings involving noncollinear spins and multiferroic systems with potential applications in noncollinear magnetophotonics.
