The article focuses on a study which investigated anterior tibial translation and ligament loading in the knee joints of healthy and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)-deficient patients during walking. Ligament loading was evaluated using an electromyography (EMG)-driven model. The study observed an increased anterior tibial translation (ATT) in patients with ACL-deficient knee. The medial collateral ligament was also found to be the main passive restraint of anterior shear force in ACL-deficient knee.

The article presents a study which aims to determine the differences in neuromuscular control, if any, on the knee between the stabilizing limb (injured) and the mobilizing limb (uninjured) during a standing posture. In the study, electromyography (EMG) activity of several muscles of both legs was gathered from the medial hamstrings (MH), lateral hamstrings (LH) and rectus femoris (VL), among others. The study showed that the vasti muscles has a major role in knee stabilization while the multijoint muscles are used to mobilize the limb.
