The article presents information on the costing of renewable energy, development of a sodium ion battery by chemical engineer of Stanford University Zhenan Bao and his team, and compares the cost of lithium ion batteries with sodium ion batteries.
The article focuses on the gold nanowire-based battery developed by doctoral candidate Mya Le Thai and her team at the University of California, Irvine. Topics discussed include the higher surface area of nanowires compared to the films in the lithium-ion batteries and capacitor, the use of polymethylmetnacrylate (PMMA) to cover the wires, and the reduction of the needed gel.
