Abstract

The article discusses the necropsy findings of White-Beaked Dolphins stranded in Denmark between 2008-2014. It states that the majority of the dolphins were young adults and the thickness of their blubber were relatively thin. It mentions that the dolphins were emaciated with scant subcutaneous, visceral fat deposits, and superficial cutaneous excoriations.

Abstract

The article presents a study which examined the case of death of stranded sperm whales, Physeter macrocephalus, at Henne Strand north of Esbjerg, Denmark. Several procedures are untertaken including full dissection and postmortem examination, histology, analysis of serosanguineous fluid, mycotic examination and morbillivirus on brain tests. It is concluded that the whales have developed a fatal Clostridium septicum infection.
