We present a detailed study of the dynamics associated with the ghost sector of quenched QCD in the Landau gauge, where the relevant dynamical equations are supplemented with key inputs originating from large-volume lattice simulations. In particular, we solve the coupled system of Schwinger-Dyson equations that governs the evolution of the ghost dressing function and the ghost-gluon vertex, using as input for the gluon propagator lattice data that have been cured from volume and discretization artifacts. In addition, we explore the soft gluon limit of the same system, employing recent lattice data for the three-gluon vertex that enters in one of the diagrams defining the Schwinger-Dyson equation of the ghost-gluon vertex. The results obtained from the numerical treatment of these equations are in excellent agreement with lattice data for the ghost dressing function, once the latter have undergone the appropriate scale-setting and artifact elimination refinements. Moreover, the coincidence observed between the ghost-gluon vertex in general kinematics and in the soft gluon limit reveals an outstanding consistency of physical concepts and computational schemes., Comment: 34 pages, 12 figures

Recent years have seen the flourishing of research devoted to quantum effects on mesoscopic and macroscopic scales. In this context, in Entropy 2019, 21, 705, a formalism aiming at describing macroscopic quantum fields, dubbed Reduced State of the Field (RSF), was envisaged. In present work, we explore and experiment an alternative approach of studying resonance properties in finite volume. By analytic continuing finite lattice size $L$ into complex plane, the oscillating behavior of finite volume Green's function is mapped into infinite volume Green's function corrected by exponentially decaying finite volume effect. In present work, we show how the threshold expansion formula of N identical bosons in finite volume may be derived by iterations of Faddeev-type coupled dynamical equations. The energy shift of N-boson system near threshold is dominated by zero momenta mode of N-body amplitudes with all particles nearly static. The dominant zero momenta mode and subleading nonzero momenta mode contributions are connected through finite volume Faddeev-type coupled dynamical equations. Eliminating nonzero momenta modes by iterations ultimately yields an analytic expression that can be solved by threshold expansion.

A sequential estimator based on the Ensemble Kalman Filter for Data Assimilation of fluid flows is presented in this research work. The main feature of this estimator is that the Kalman filter update, which relies on the determination of the Kalman gain, is performed exploiting the algorithmic features of the numerical solver employed as a model. More precisely, the multilevel resolution associated with the multigrid iterative approach for time advancement is used to generate several low-resolution numerical simulations. These results are used as ensemble members to determine the correction via Kalman filter, which is then projected on the high-resolution grid to correct a single simulation which corresponds to the numerical model. The assessment of the method is performed via the analysis of one-dimensional and two-dimensional test cases, using different dynamical equations. The results show an efficient trade-off in terms of accuracy and computational costs required. In addition, a physical regularization of the flow, which is not granted by classical KF approaches, is naturally obtained owing to the multigrid iterative calculations. The algorithm is also well suited for the analysis of unsteady phenomena and, in particular, for potential application to in-streaming Data Assimilation techniques.

We consider the general problem of describing the dynamics of subnetworks of larger biochemical reaction networks, e.g. protein interaction networks involving complex formation and dissociation reactions. We propose the use of model reduction strategies to understand the 'extrinsic' sources of stochasticity arising from the rest of the network. Our approaches are based on subnetwork dynamical equations derived by projection methods and by path integrals. The results provide a principled derivation of the different components of the extrinsic noise that is observed experimentally in cellular biochemical reactions, over and above the intrinsic noise from the stochasticity of biochemical events in the subnetwork. We explore several intermediate approximations to assess systematically the relative importance of different extrinsic noise components, including initial transients, long-time plateaus, temporal correlations, multiplicative noise terms and nonlinear noise propagation. The best approximations achieve excellent accuracy in quantitative tests on a simple protein network and on the epidermal growth factor receptor signalling network., Comment: 24 pages, 10 figures

In this paper, we study variational point-obstacle avoidance problems on complete Riemannian manifolds. The problem consists of minimizing an energy functional depending on the velocity, covariant acceleration and a repulsive potential function used to avoid an static obstacle given by a point in the manifold, among a set of admissible curves. We derive the dynamical equations for stationary paths of the variational problem, in particular on compact connected Lie groups and Riemannian symmetric spaces. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the proposed method.

In the recently introduced mass-polariton (MP) theory of light (Partanen et al 2017 Phys. Rev. A 95 063850), the optical force of light drives in a medium forward an atomic mass density wave. In this work, we present the Lagrangian formulation of the MP theory starting directly from the principle of least action and the well-known Lagrangian densities of the electromagnetic field and the medium within the special theory of relativity. The Lagrangian densities and the resulting Euler–Lagrange equations lead directly and without any further postulates to the unique expression of the optical Abraham force that dynamically couples the electromagnetic field and the medium in the MP theory of light. The field-medium coupling is symmetric and bi-directional and it fulfills the law of action and counteraction. The coupled dynamical equations also enable the exact description of the very small kinetic energy of the medium as a part of the total energy of the coupled state of light. Thus, the Lagrangian formulation of the present work is a complementary approach to Lorentz covariance properties of the MP theory discussed in our recent work (Partanen and Tulkki 2019 Phys. Rev. A 99 033852). We show how the coupled dynamical equations of the field and the medium can be solved analytically for a Gaussian light pulse. It is astonishing how the simple analytic results for the dynamical equations, the optical force, and the stress-energy-momentum tensor of the MP theory follow ab initio from the Lagrangian densities that have been well known for almost a century.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the dynamical aspects of charged viscous cylindrical source by using Misner approach. To this end, we have considered the more general charged dissipative fluid enclosed by the cylindrical symmetric spacetime. The dissipative nature of the source is due to the presence of dissipative variables in the stress-energy tensor. The dynamical equations resulting from such charged cylindrical dissipative source have been coupled with the causal transport equations for heat flux, shear and bulk viscosity, in the context of Israel-Steward theory. In this case, we have the considered the Israel-Steward transportation equations without excluding the thermodynamics viscous/heat coupling coefficients. Motivated by a geometric method employed for the derivation of the Nambu bracket for ideal two-dimensional incompressible hydrodynamics, we reconstruct the reduced magnetohydrodynamic (RMHD) model by a priori imposition of its conservation laws. It turns out that there exists a more general model that conserves the same quantities with RMHD. The noncanonical Hamiltonian and Nambu description of this generic system are derived and in addition a canonical description is formed by Clebsch-parameterizing the vorticity and the magnetic flux function. The method for the construction of the dynamical equations is based on the imposition of the conservation laws as orthogonality conditions. Furthermore, this approach enabled us to construct three families of models that respect any combination of two out of the three conservation laws. Some of these models can serve as conservative regularizations of RMHD since under certain conditions they keep the enstrophy bounded without the need of introducing viscosity and may be candidates for incorporating small length scale physics into the RMHD framework.

In the context of the recently proposed L$_\infty$ bootstrap approach, the question arises whether the so constructed gauge theories are unique solutions of the L$_\infty$ relations. Physically it is expected that two gauge theories should be considered equivalent if they are related by a field redefinition described by a Seiberg-Witten map. To clarify the consequences in the L$_\infty$ framework, it is proven that Seiberg-Witten maps between physically equivalent gauge theories correspond to quasi-isomorphisms of the underlying L$_\infty$ algebras. The low-temperature-differential (LTD) Stirling heat engine technology constitutes one of the important sustainable energy technologies. The basic question of how the rotational motion of the LTD Stirling heat engine is maintained or lost based on the temperature difference is thus a practically and physically important problem that needs to be clearly understood. Here, we approach this problem by proposing and investigating a minimal nonlinear dynamic model of an LTD kinematic Stirling heat engine. Our model is described as a driven nonlinear pendulum where the motive force is the temperature difference. The rotational state and the stationary state of the engine are described as a stable limit cycle and a stable fixed point of the dynamical equations, respectively. These two states coexist under a sufficient temperature difference, whereas the stable limit cycle does not exist under a temperature difference that is too small. Using a nonlinear bifurcation analysis, we show that the disappearance of the stable limit cycle occurs via a homoclinic bifurcation, with the temperature difference being the bifurcation parameter., Comment: 7 pages, 7 figures

This paper demonstrates an equivalence between rotating magnetised shear flows and a stressed elastic beam. This results from finding the same form of dynamical equations after an asymptotic reduction of the axis-symmetric magnetorotational instability (MRI) under the assumption of almost-critical driving. The analysis considers the MRI dynamics in a non-dissipative near-equilibrium regime. Both the magnetic and elastic systems reduce to a simple one-dimensional wave equation with a nonlocal nonlinear feedback. Under transformation, the equation comprises a large number of mean-field interacting Duffing oscillators. This system was the first proven example of a strange attractor in a partial differential equation. Finding the same reduced equation in two natural applications suggests the model might result from other applications and could fall into a universal class based on symmetry., Comment: Published: Proc. Interacting-Particle Reaction Dynamics (iPRD) simulates the spatiotemporal evolution of particles that experience interaction forces and can react with one another. The combination of interaction forces and reactions enable a wide range of complex reactive systems in biology and chemistry, but give rise to new questions such as how to evolve the dynamical equations in a computationally efficient and statistically correct manner. Here we consider reversible reactions such as A + B C with interacting particles and derive expressions for the microscopic iPRD simulation parameters such that desired values for the equilibrium constant and the dissociation rate are obtained in the dilute limit. We then introduce a Monte-Carlo algorithm that ensures detailed balance in the iPRD time-evolution (iPRD-DB). iPRD-DB guarantees the correct thermodynamics at all concentrations and maintains the desired kinetics in the dilute limit, where chemical rates are well-defined and kinetic measurement experiments usually operate. We show that in dense particle systems, the incorporation of detailed balance is essential to obtain physically realistic solutions. iPRD-DB is implemented in ReaDDy 2 (https://readdy.github.io).

Structure formation in 1+1 dimensions is considered, with emphasis on the effects of shell-crossing. The breakdown of the perturbative expansion beyond shell-crossing is discussed, and it is shown, in a simple example, that the perturbative series can be extended to a transseries including nonperturbative terms. The latter converges to the exact result well beyond the range of validity of perturbation theory. The crucial role of the divergences induced by shell-crossing is discussed. They provide constraints on the structure of the transseries and act as a bridge between the perturbative and the nonperturbative sectors. Then, we show that the dynamics in the deep multistreaming regime is governed by attractors. In the case of simple initial conditions, these attractors coincide with the asymptotic configurations of the adhesion model, but in general they may differ. These results are applied to a cosmological setting, and an algorithm to build the attractor solution starting from the Zel'dovich approximation is developed. Finally, this algorithm is applied to the search of `haloes' and the results are compared with those obtained from the exact dynamical equations., Comment: 30 pages

Quantum tracking control aims to identify applied fields to steer the expectation values of particular observables along desired paths in time. The associated temporal fields can be identified by inverting the underlying dynamical equations for the observables. However, fields found in this manner are often plagued by undesirable singularities. In this paper we consider a planar molecular rotor and derive singularity-free tracking expressions for the fields that steer the expectation of the orientation of the rotor along the desired trajectories in time. Simulations are presented that utilize two orthogonal control electric fields to drive the orientation of the rotor along a series of designated tracks.

In this paper we present a cosmological model arising from a non-conservative gravitational theory proposed in [PRD 95, 101501(R) (2017)]. The novel feature where comparing with previous implementations of dissipative effects in gravity is the possible arising of such phenomena from a least action principle, so they are of a purely geometric nature. We derive the dynamical equations describing the behaviour of the cosmic background, considering a single fluid model composed by pressureles matter, whereas the dark energy is conceived as an outcome of the "geometric" dissipative process emerging in the model. We have investigated the dynamics of particles in the vicinity of a static spherically symmetric black hole in f(R) gravity. Using the Euler-Lagrange method the dynamical equations of a neutral particle are obtained. Assuming that the particle is initially moving in the innermost stable circular orbit, we have calculated its escape velocity, after a collision with some other particle. The conditions for the escape of colliding particles are discussed. The effective potential and the trajectories of the escaping particles are studied graphically., Comment: 10 Pages, 2 Figures

We investigate the Lagrange multiplier formulation of teleparallel theories, including f(T) gravity, in which the connection is not set to zero a priori and compare it with the pure frame theory. We show explicitly that the two formulations are equivalent, in the sense that the dynamical equations have the same content. Molecular Dynamics - Green's Functions Reaction Dynamics (MD-GFRD) is a multiscale simulation method for particle dynamics or particle-based reaction-diffusion dynamics that is suited for systems involving low particle densities. Particles in a low-density region are just diffusing and not interacting. In this case one can avoid the costly integration of microscopic equations of motion, such as molecular dynamics (MD), and instead turn to an event-based scheme in which the times to the next particle interaction and the new particle positions at that time can be sampled. At high (local) concentrations, however, e.g. when particles are interacting in a nontrivial way, particle positions must still be updated with small time steps of the microscopic dynamical equations. The efficiency of a multi-scale simulation that uses these two schemes largely depends on the coupling between them and the decisions when to switch between the two scales. Here we present an efficient scheme for multi-scale MD-GFRD simulations. It has been shown that MD-GFRD schemes are more efficient than brute-force molecular dynamics simulations up to a molar concentration of $10^{2}\mu M$. In this paper, we show that the choice of the propagation domains has a relevant impact on the computational performance. Domains are constructed using a local optimization of their sizes and a minimal domain size is proposed. The algorithm is shown to be more efficient than brute-force Brownian dynamics simulations up to a molar concentration of $10^{3}\mu M$ and is up to an order of magnitude more efficient compared with previous MD-GFRD schemes.

We study the dynamical behaviour of gauge-invariant linear perturbations in spherically symmetric dust cosmologies including a cosmological constant. In contrast to spatially homogeneous FLRW models, the reduced degree of spatial symmetry causes a non-trivial dynamical coupling of gauge-invariant quantities already at first order perturbation theory and the strength and influence of this coupling on the spacetime evolution is investigated here. We present results on the underlying dynamical equations augmented by a cosmological constant and integrate them numerically. We also present a method to derive cosmologically relevant initial variables for this setup. Estimates of angular power spectra for each metric variable are computed and evaluated on the central observer's past null cone. By comparing the full evolution to the freely evolved initial profiles, the coupling strength will be determined for a best fit radially inhomogeneous patch obtained in previous works (see Redlich et. al. (2014)). We find that coupling effects are not noticeable within the cosmic variance limit and can therefore safely be neglected for a relevant cosmological scenario. On the contrary, we find very strong coupling effects in a best fit spherical void model matching the distance redshift relation of SNe which is in accordance with previous findings using parametric void models., Comment: 24 pages, 5 figures, prepared for submission to JCAP

The modified Camassa-Holm (mCH) equation is a bi-Hamiltonian system possessing $N$-peakon weak solutions, for all $N\geq 1$, in the setting of an integral formulation which is used in analysis for studying local well-posedness, global existence, and wave breaking for non-peakon solutions. Unlike the original Camassa-Holm equation, the two Hamiltonians of the mCH equation do not reduce to conserved integrals (constants of motion) for $2$-peakon weak solutions. This perplexing situation is addressed here by finding an explicit conserved integral for $N$-peakon weak solutions for all $N\geq 2$. When $N$ is even, the conserved integral is shown to provide a Hamiltonian structure with the use of a natural Poisson bracket that arises from reduction of one of the Hamiltonian structures of the mCH equation. But when $N$ is odd, the Hamiltonian equations of motion arising from the conserved integral using this Poisson bracket are found to differ from the dynamical equations for the mCH $N$-peakon weak solutions. Moreover, the lack of conservation of the two Hamiltonians of the mCH equation when they are reduced to $2$-peakon weak solutions is shown to extend to $N$-peakon weak solutions for all $N\geq 2$. Fluid dynamics accompanies with the entropy production thus increases the local temperature, which plays an important role in charged systems such as the ion channel in biological environment and electrodiffusion in capacitors/batteries. In this article, we propose a general framework to derive the transport equations with heat flow through the Energetic Variational Approach. According to thermodynamic first law, the total energy is conserved and we can then use the Least Action Principle to derive the conservative forces. From thermodynamic second law, the entropy increases and the dissipative forces can be computed with the Maximum Dissipation Principle. Combining these two laws, we then conclude with the force balance equations and a temperature equation. To emphasis, our method provide a self consistent procedure to obtain dynamical equations satisfying proper energy laws and it not only works for the charge systems but also for general systems.

The aim of this work is to study, from an intrinsic and geometric point of view, second-order constrained variational problems on Lie algebroids, that is, optimization problems defined by a cost functional which depends on higher-order derivatives of admissible curves on a Lie algebroid. Extending the classical Skinner and Rusk formalism for the mechanics in the context of Lie algebroids, for second-order constrained mechanical systems, we derive the corresponding dynamical equations. We find a symplectic Lie subalgebroid where, under some mild regularity conditions, the second-order constrained variational problem, seen as a presymplectic Hamiltonian system, has a unique solution. We study the relationship of this formalism with the second-order constrained Euler-Poincar\'e and Lagrange-Poincar\'e equations, among others. We investigate the propagation characteristics of two counter propagating dust acoustic solitary waves (DASWs) undergoing a head-on collision, in the presence of strong coupling between micron sized charged dust particles in a complex plasma. A coupled set of nonlinear dynamical equations describing the evolution of the two DASWs using the extended Poincar\'e-Lighthill-Kuo perturbation technique is derived. The nature and extent of post collision phase-shifts of these solitary waves are studied over a wide range of dusty plasma parameters in a strongly and a weakly coupled medium. We find a significant change in the nature and amount of phase delay in the strongly coupled regime as compared to a weakly coupled regime. The phase shift is seen to change its sign beyond a threshold value of compressibility of the medium for a given set of dusty plasma parameters., Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures

Effective transition between the population-inverted optical eigenmodes of two coupled microcavities carrying mechanical oscillation realizes a phonon analogue of optical two-level laser. By providing an approach that linearizes the dynamical equations of weak nonlinear systems without relying on their steady states, we study such phonon laser action as a realistic dynamical process, which exhibits time-dependent stimulated phonon field amplification especially when one of the cavities is added with optical gain medium. We study the dynamical properties of the quantum Rabi model within a systematic expansion method. Based on the observation that the parity symmetry of the Rabi model is kept during the evolution of the states, we decompose the initial state and the time-dependent one into a part of a positive and a negative parity expanded by the superposition of the coherent states. The evolutions for the corresponding positive and the negative parity are obtained, where the expansion coefficients in the dynamical equations are known from the recurrence relation derived., Comment: 10 pages

Highly-optimized complex transport networks serve crucial functions in many man-made and natural systems such as power grids and plant or animal vasculature. Often, the relevant optimization functional is non-convex and characterized by many local extrema. In general, finding the global, or nearly global optimum is difficult. In biological systems, it is believed that natural selection slowly guides the network towards an optimized state. However, general coarse grained models for flow networks with local positive feedback rules for the vessel conductivity typically get trapped in low efficiency, local minima. In this work we show how the growth of the underlying tissue, coupled to the dynamical equations for network development, can drive the system to a dramatically improved optimal state. This general model provides a surprisingly simple explanation for the appearance of highly optimized transport networks in biology such as leaf and animal vasculature., Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures. The purpose of this article is to illustrate the role of connections and symmetries in the Wheeled Inverted Pendulum (WIP) mechanism - an underactuated system with rolling constraints - popularized commercially as the Segway, and thereby arrive at a set of simpler dynamical equations that could serve as the starting point for more complex feedback control designs. The first part of the article views the nonholonomic constraints enforced by the rolling assumption as defining an Ehresmann connection on a fiber bundle. The resulting equations are the reduced Euler-Lagrange equations, which are identical to the Lagrange d'Alembert equations of motion. In the second part we explore conserved quantities, in particular, nonholonomic momenta. To do so, we first introduce the notion of a symmetry group, whose action leaves both the Lagrangian and distribution invariant. We examine two symmetry groups - $SE (2)$ and $SE(2) \times \mathbb{S}^{1}$. We offer a metal model suitable for the description of fast electrophysical processes in conductors under influence of powerful electronic and laser radiation of femto- and picosecond duration, and also high-voltage electromagnetic pulses with picosecond front and duration less than 1 ns. The obtained dynamic equations for metal in approximation of one quasineutral liquid are in agreement with the equations received by other authors formerly. We make phenomenological predictions for particle spectra and elliptic flow in heavy-ion collisions using 3+1d anisotropic hydrodynamics (aHydro) including the effects of both shear and bulk viscosities. The dynamical equations necessary are derived by taking moments of the Boltzmann equation allowing for three distinct (diagonal) momentum-space anisotropy parameters. The formulation is based on relaxation-time approximation for the collisional kernel and a lattice-QCD-based equation of state. Evolving the system to late times, we calculate particle production using THERMINATOR 2, modified to account for an ellipsoidal distribution function. We obtain particle spectra for different particle species such as pions, kaons, and protons, and elliptic flow $v_2$ as a function of centrality, transverse momentum, and rapidity. In our model, we have four free parameters, i.e. freeze-out temperature, initial central energy density, initial momentum-space anisotropies, and shear viscosity to entropy density ratio. Using a multidimensional fit to LHC experimental data, we make a preliminary extraction of these parameters. In this paper, we have investigated the role of different fluid parameters particularly electromagnetic field and $f(R)$ corrections on the evolution of cylindrical compact object. We have explored the modified field equations, kinematical quantities and dynamical equations. An expression for the mass function has been found in comparison with the Misner-Sharp formalism in modified gravity, after which different mass radius diagrams are drawn. The coupled dynamical transport equation have been formulated to discuss the role of thermoinertial effects on the inertial mass density of the cylindrical relativistic interior. Finally, we have presented a framework, according to which all possible solutions of the metric $f(R)$-Maxwell field equations coupled with static fluid can be written through set of scalar functions. It is found that modified gravity induced by Lagrangians $f(R)=\alpha R^2,~f(R)=\alpha R^2-\beta R$ and $f(R)=\frac{\alpha R^2-\beta R}{1+\gamma R}$ are likely to host more massive cylindrical compact objects with smaller radii as compared to GR., Comment: 14 pages, 4 figures

A discrete quantum spin system is presented in which several modern methods of canonical quantum gravity can be tested with promising results. In particular, features of interacting dynamics are analyzed with an emphasis on homogeneous configurations and the dynamical building-up and stability of long-range correlations. Different types of homogeneous minisuperspace models are introduced for the system, including one based on condensate states, and shown to capture different aspects of the discrete system. They are evaluated with effective methods and by means of continuum limits, showing good agreement with operator calculations whenever the latter are available. As a possibly quite general result, it is concluded that an analysis of the building-up of long-range correlations in discrete systems requires non-perturbative solutions of the dynamical equations. Some questions related to stability can be analyzed perturbatively, but suggest that matter couplings may be relevant for this question in the context of quantum cosmology., Comment: 28 pages, 5 figures

A primordial inflationary phase allows one to erase any possible anisotropic expansion thanks to the cosmic no-hair theorem. If there is no global anisotropic stress, then the anisotropic expansion rate tends to decrease. What are the observational consequences of a possible early anisotropic phase? We first review the dynamics of anisotropic universes and report analytic approximations. We then discuss the structure of dynamical equations for perturbations and the statistical properties of observables, as well as the implication of a primordial anisotropy on the quantization of these perturbations during inflation. Based on a stringy inspired Gauss-Bonnet (GB) modification of classical gravity, we constructed a model for neutron stars. We derived the modified forms of Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equations for a generic function of $f(G)$ gravity. In a previous paper [arXiv:1308.1852] we showed how a finite system of discrete particles interacting with each other via Newtonian gravitational attraction would lead to precisely the same dynamical equations for homothetic motion as in the case of the pressure-free Friedmann-Lema\^{i}tre-Robertson-Walker cosmological models of General Relativity Theory, provided the distribution of particles obeys the central configuration equation. In this paper we show one can obtain perturbed such Newtonian solutions that give the same linearised structure growth equations as in the general relativity case. We also obtain the Dmitriev-Zeldovich equations for subsystems in this discrete gravitational model, and show how it leads to the conclusion that voids have an apparent negative mass., Comment: 24 pages

We give an introduction to (pseudo-)Finsler geometry and its connections. For most results we provide short and self contained proofs. Our study of the Berwald non-linear connection is framed into the theory of connections over general fibered spaces pioneered by Mangiarotti, Modugno and other scholars. The main identities for the linear Finsler connection are presented in the general case, and then specialized to some notable cases like Berwald's, Cartan's or Chern-Rund's. In this way it becomes easy to compare them and see the advantages of one connection over the other. Since we introduce two soldering forms we are able to characterize the notable Finsler connections in terms of their torsion properties. As an application, the curvature symmetries implied by the compatibility with a metric suggest that in Finslerian generalizations of general relativity the mean Cartan torsion vanishes. This observation allows us to obtain dynamical equations which imply a satisfactory conservation law. A method is proposed to study the finite-temperature behaviour of small magnetic clusters based on solving the stochastic Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equations, where the effective magnetic field is calculated directly during the solution of the dynamical equations from first principles instead of relying on an effective spin Hamiltonian. Different numerical solvers are discussed in the case of a one-dimensional Heisenberg chain with nearest-neighbour interactions. We performed detailed investigations for a monatomic chain of ten Co atoms on top of Au(001) surface. We found a spiral-like ground state of the spins due to Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya interactions, while the finite-temperature magnetic behaviour of the system was well described by a nearest-neighbour Heisenberg model including easy-axis anisotropy., Comment: 25 pages, 8 figures

This paper is devoted to study the stability/instability of the expansionfree self gravitating source in the framework of Einstein Gauss-Bonnet gravity. The source has been taken as Tolman-Bondi model which is homogenous in nature. The field equations as dynamical equations have been evaluated in Gauss-Bonnet gravity in five dimensions. The junction conditions as well as cavity evaluations equations have been explored in detail. The perturbation scheme of first order has been applied to dynamical as Einstein Gauss-Bonnet field equations. The concept of Newtonian as well post Newtonian approximation have been used to derive general dynamical stability equations. In general this equation represents the stability of the gravitating source. Some particular values of system parameters have been chosen to prove the concept of stability graphically. In the context of the random first order transition theory we use an extended mode coupling theory of the glass transition that includes activated events to account for spatiotemporal structures in aging and rejuvenating glasses. We numerically solve fluctuating dynamical equations for mobility and fictive temperature fields which capture both mobility generation through activated events and facilitation effects. Upon rejuvenating, a source of high mobility at a glass surface initiates a growth front of mobility which propagates into the unstable low mobility region. The speed of the front is consistent with experiments on the rejuvenation of stable glasses, which "melt" from their surface., Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures

We have studied the dynamics of a cylindrical column of anisotropic, charged fluid which is experiencing dissipation in the form of heat flow, free-streaming radiation, and shearing viscosity, undergoing gravitational collapse. We calculate the Einstein-Maxwell field equations and, using the Darmois junction conditions, match the interior non-static cylindrically symmetric space-time with the exterior anisotropic, charged, cylindrically symmetric space-time. The behavior of the density, pressure and luminosity of the collapsing matter has been analyzed. From the dynamical equations, the effect of charge and dissipative quantities over the cylindrical collapse are studied. The mutual compatibility of the dynamical equations and constraints describing a massive particle of arbitrary spin, though essential for consistency, is generically lost in the presence of interactions. The conventional Lagrangian approach avoids this difficulty, but fails to ensure light-cone propagation and becomes very cumbersome. In this paper, we take an alternative route--the involutive form of the equations and constraints--to guarantee their algebraic consistency. This approach enormously simplifies the search for consistent interactions, now seen as deformations of the involutive system, by keeping manifest the causal propagation of the correct number of degrees of freedom. We consider massive particles of arbitrary integer spin in electromagnetic and gravitational backgrounds to find their possible non-minimal local couplings. Apart from easily reproducing some well-known results, we find restrictions on the backgrounds for consistent propagation of such a particle in isolation. We analyze the dynamical equations obeyed by a classical system with position-dependent mass. It is shown that there is a non-conservative force quadratic in the velocity associated to the variable mass. We construct the Lagrangian and the Hamiltonian for this system and find the modifications required in the Euler-Lagrange and Hamilton's equations to reproduce the appropriate Newton's dynamical law. Since the Hamiltonian is not time invariant, we get a constant of motion suited to write the dynamical equations in the form of the Hamilton's ones. The time-dependent first integrals of motion are then obtained from the factorization of such a constant. A canonical transformation is found to map the variable mass equations to those of a constant mass. As particular cases, we recover some recent results for which the dependence of the mass on the position was already unnoticed, and find new solvable potentials of the P\"oschl-Teller form which seem to be new. The latter are associated to either the su(1,1) or the su(2) Lie algebras depending on the sign of the Hamiltonian.

We consider a collapsing sphere and discuss its evolution under the vanishing expansion scalar in the framework of $f(R)$ gravity. The fluid is assumed to be locally anisotropic which evolves adiabatically. To study the dynamics of the collapsing fluid, Newtonian and post Newtonian regimes are taken into account. The field equations are investigated for a well-known $f(R)$ model of the form $R+\delta R^2$ admitting Schwarzschild solution. The perturbation scheme is used on the dynamical equations to explore the instability conditions of expansionfree fluid evolution. The recently developed framework of anisotropic hydrodynamics is generalized to describe the dynamics of coupled quark and gluon fluids. The quark and gluon components of the fluids are characterized by different dynamical anisotropy parameters. The dynamical equations describing such mixtures are derived from kinetic theory with the collisional kernel treated in the relaxation- time approximation allowing for different relaxation times for quarks and gluons. Baryon number conservation is enforced in the quark and anti-quark components of the fluid, but overall parton number non-conservation is allowed in the system. We consider the spreading of a thin two-dimensional droplet on a planar substrate as a prototype system to compare the contemporary model for contact line motion based on interface formation of Shikhmurzaev [Int. J. Multiphas. Flow 19, 589 (1993)], to the more commonly used continuum fluid dynamical equations augmented with the Navier-slip condition. Considering quasistatic droplet evolution and using the method of matched asymptotics, we find that the evolution of the droplet radius using the interface formation model reduces to an equivalent expression for a slip model, where the prescribed microscopic dynamic contact angle has a velocity dependent correction to its static value. This result is found for both the original interface formation model formulation and for a more recent version, where mass transfer from bulk to surface layers is accounted for through the boundary conditions. In three space dimensions, when a physical system possesses spherical symmetry, the dynamical equations automatically lead to the Legendre and the associated Legendre equations, with the respective orthogonal polynomials as their standard solutions. This is a very general and important result and appears in many problems in physics (for example, the multipole expansion etc). We study these equations from an operator point of view, much like the harmonic oscillator, and show that there is an underlying shape invariance symmetry in these systems responsible for their solubility. We study the role of periodically driven time-dependent Rashba spin-orbit coupling (RSOC) on a monolayer graphene sample. After recasting the originally $4\times 4$ system of dynamical equations as two time-reversal related two-level problems, the quasi-energy spectrum and the related dynamics are investigated via various techniques and approximations. In the static case the system is a gapped at the Dirac point. The rotating wave approximation (RWA) applied to the driven system unphysically preserves this feature, while the Magnus-Floquet approach as well as a numerically exact evaluation of the Floquet equation show that this gap is dynamically closed. In addition, a sizable oscillating pattern of the out-of-plane spin polarization is found in the driven case for states which completely unpolarized in the static limit. Evaluation of the autocorrelation function shows that the original uniform interference pattern corresponding to time-independent RSOC gets distorted. The resulting structure can be qualitatively explained as a consequence of the transitions induced by the ac driving among the static eigenstates, i.e., these transitions modulate the relative phases that add up to give the quantum revivals of the autocorrelation function.
